You do have to admit that Warhol was a genius though. Anyone who could combine a wooden box and a few cans of primary color paint with the skill of a ten-year-old to create something that looks just like something on a supermarket shelf but could be sold for a $100,000 obviously had an unparalleled ability. I'm not exactly sure what that ability is but I'm sure he had it.
It was an amazing time and by 1980 Andy was the acknowledged King of it, Michael Kostabi and Keith Herring were sucessful, but Warhol was a legend whoses fame and value grows daily. I am always amazed at his effect on culture. He was one of the few geniuses of the twentieth century, I am sure Manhattan will miss him forever. This stuff should all be transferred to a National Museum in Manhattan, something like "the International Warhol Center for the Arts", so what is left can be preserved.
