The Moderate Party's Anders Borg, finance minister; Tobias Billström, immigration minister; and Riksdag foreign affairs committee head Göran Lennmarker answer some questions from The Local about the party's stance on a few key issues.

The Local: Why should someone vote for your party?

Anders Borg: We want to be responsible and carry out a strong fiscal policy. Instead of taxing and spending on welfare, we want to help people find work by offering them a high-quality education.

TL: What is your party going to do about the key issues facing the Swedish electorate?

AB: We want to restore public finances and make the education system work for our economy.

TL: What does your party see as the key to helping non-Swedes successfully establish themselves in Sweden?

AB: Immigrants are a real asset to this country. However, we have been too slow in introducing immigrants to the labour market, especially the older generation. It is too labourious to find a job without support and we want to change that.

There are problems, as in other European countries. We want to reduce taxes in the service sector, but this will take time.

TL: What do you say to foreign students who come here to study, but find it hard to find a job?

Tobias Billström: This government has changed the law so that visiting students who have completed studies corresponding to 30 ECTS credits or higher are allowed to apply for work and residence permits without having to first leave Sweden, which was the case before. Many foreign students are interested in working in Sweden and it is important for us to benefit from this, not least when considering the aging population and the growing labour needs.

TL: What is your party's top foreign policy issue?

Göran Lennmarker: Democracy, international law and human rights are the cornerstones of the Moderates' foreign policy. The EU is the main platform for our foreign and security policy and we want to strengthen the EU as a global actor.

We also want to contribute to a Europe that continues to remain open, with particular interest in, and responsibility for, development in the EU's neighbours and enlarging the union. We want to strengthen the transatlantic link and promote a world without nuclear weapons.

Sweden has a long-term commitment to security and stability in Afghanistan. We have increased Sweden's participation in the ISAF mission during this electoral term and we want to see a strengthened international civilian operation in Afghanistan.

Bjorg is either being lied to by Migrationsverket or he himself lied in his interview to the local with respects to the question:

TL: What do you say to foreign students who come here to study, but find it hard to find a job?

A foreign student studying full time is required by Migration to spin a salary of 13000 SEK at the time he/she applies for the work visa. Why did Bjorn not tell the local that? Prior to 2009 the salary was below 8000 SEK to be granted a work visa.

The realities that these politicians arent telling you are :

1) It is impossible for a serious foreign student working part time to earn 13000 SEK a month and still keep his/her good grades

2)By the time most foreign student finish their degree program and apply for a work permit, non of them has any form of employment: so how then are they supposed to show proof of earnings they do not have?

3) Some students manage to meet the 13000SEK salary line, but when they apply they are turned down because the salary doesn't come from the same employer.

I hope such spins of the reality don't lure international students to entertain the notion that such revelations are actually in their favour.

Does the party Bjorg and the others represent intend removing the salary cap condition and enable foreign students get the work permit? By the way how many foreign students have come knocking at the doors of social services because they earn salaries below 13,000? If they think anyone earning below 13,000 SEK is miserable, then they shouldnt be taxing them the 32% that every body pays.

"Immigrants are a real asset to this country!" Anders Borg.(Sweden 2010).

"We must be mad, literally mad....It is like watching a nation busily engaged in heaping up its own funeral pyre." Enoch Powell (England 1968).

Now, who was talking common sense, Anders or Enoch?

@bitter you are. I have many friends who have successfully found jobs in Sweden.

It is also true that Ander's job is to serve the citizen's of Sweden first. It is possible he can do that by helping your concerns but it is not his primary responsibility.

@ here for the summer. Can you really be here for summer in your own country, Sweden, or do you imply your comments on the local are not to be taken seriously, cos they are probably some summer jest without any substance to them? If the latter is true then I understand your choice of pen name.

Many of your friends found jobs in Sweden? Thats true I can concur this claim so long as giving foreigners jobs for you means giving them cleaning jobs and other menial chores which you yourself shall never do.

You make a mistake by saying that Anders Borg's primary concern is Swedes first and has No Responsibility whatever toward the foreigners.

Paying of taxes is the responsibility of native swedes and foreigners. So I dont see how Anders Borg's responsibilities become limited to Swedes ONLY when it comes to employement.
