All citizens of Sweden must go on a big demonstration against this...
WHY would a Swed die in Afghanistan what have we with USA HASH trade??
If USA takes the HASH and the natural resources and the petrol from Iraq Why Sweden is fighting their war and paying the prices of their problems!!!
GO OUT NOW!!!
Leave them in peace and they will never commit crimes outside their country nor harbor terrorists.
They are just misunderstood folk.
/sarcasm.
It was bound to happen, the Muslim faith calls to kill all infidels without any thought of their nationality. I just hope he sent a few of them to try find the big daddy pedophile to claim their virgins before this man died in the line of duty.
My condolences to his family - he died the most honorable way a soldier can go, in the line of duty.
its only wasting of time
It was a young short life, but it was better spent than most of yours will be. Swedes can be proud of him. God Bless him and his family, we are all in his debt.
@wenddiver: he of course sacrificed his life because it meant a lot to him (not just something). But those (the politicians) in whom he put his faith failed to make the right decision. I guess you are making the most stupid argument when you say "that vision of a Free, proud, independent Sweden would eventually perish." You sound like one of those uneducated moron rural republicans in the US than the usual Swedes I know who travel across the glob and have a good understanding of what goes on in the world.
It is over, no more birthdays nor christmas ...
Are the American happy now? Are the Swedes whom worshiping and kissing the American shoes happy now?
Afghanistan: Rugged land ripe with resources and excellent geographical placing has been its curse throughout history, since the British set foot in the 1800's. Western elite run states have always coveted the Middle East. A moment's investigation would uncover mountains of data different from
T-Vision-Programming and news-STORIES.
If it's for equal rights, why does no one care for the women of the Congo? LIE.
If it's for terror, why are state, corporate trained insurgents and mercenaries only benefitting occupation, plunder, puppet government control and murder of mostly innocents? LIE.
If it's for security, why is the heroine and illegal/legal secret weapon trade protected and run by the allies/ NATO/ UN/ Elite organizations? LIES.
Why have all the major attacks in recent times have substantial quantities of evidence bringing doubt on official STORIES? Endless LIES.
Who pays the price? Sovereign free born human beings, the children, families, friends acquaintances and strangers we may never come to share bread, a glass of ale or laughter.
The corporations, NGO's controllers, the central-private banksters they become richer and more powerful, we become poorer in spirit and brotherly identity. Our political societies don't care and don't serve the people and are ever unlikely to.
"Military men are just dumb stupid animals, to be used as pawns in foreign policy." - Henry Kissinger. CFR, Trilateral, Bilderberger, etc.
"…people have become politically awakened… it was easier to control a million people than to kill them, now it is infinitely easier to kill a million people than control them." - Zbigniew Brzezinski. CFR, Trilateral.
"The military don't start wars. Politicians start wars." - William Westmoreland.
"It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives… A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small "inside" group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes". - Major General Smedley D. Butler.
Peace to all my brothers wherever they may be, which ever language they may speak, whatever the colour of their skin. Interesting: There are approximately 1,5 billion Muslims and millions of Christians, amongst other religions. How many of these wish and do kill indiscriminately? Who and where are the highest death tolls and what is their cause? There is far more going on here than we will ever be told.
As to the soldier's family and friends, my heartfelt and sincere condolences on your loss, it's never easy to deal with regardless of how it happens. May you find peace in the memories of your loved one, and take comfort in knowing that his death will not be in vain, but will cause the Swedish people to cry out for the rest of their boys and girls to come home from the battlefield. God bless!
BTW, that was not a Bush war, Obama is increasing troops, Bush and Obama bosses are the ones that want that war, presidents are not even halfway in the chain of power.
Wars like this one would never happened in states without professional (private) armies.
Swedes wanna do reconstruction, build schools for kids, educate the locals, provide employment but so difficult when you're engaged in fighting 24/7. Swedish troops are quite lucky that they've lately been given the right to fire first and not wait for Taliban or other groups to fire on them 1st. I respect the Swedes for sending whatever or however many troops they have sent. They don't have to but they do and i hope my fellow countrymen honor that contribution. Furthermore Swedes and other coalition troops are not there to pick on "innocent Muslims". Just because the nation is non-Western or poor developing or a majority Muslim does not mean that somehow NATO is engaged in a cultural war with them. How sick is that?
NATO is engaged to support the Afghan govt and thus improve the conditions of the everyday people. That is their mission. They're not there to harm civilians but to save them. The Taliban themselves are cowardly. They attack civilians. Why? Because some just don't cower in fear to them. Some want a better life and the Taliban can not have that. They are religious ideological nutjobs that can not for a sec allow any positive developments into their country and thus they fight coalition troops.
The Taliban are just as bad as former removed regimes of the past ala Saddam, Stalin, Hitler and etc. Their perverse way of the world is utterly insane. If NATO were to leave, they would be back in seconds and life would go to horrible in secs.
I am NOT AGREE WITH MUSLIM religion (or ANY OTHER RELIGION), BUT I defend their right to worship their god (as far as they DO NOT IMPOSE THEIR BELIEF IN OTHER PEOPLE)!
I understand that may exist some "Islamophobes" and xenophobes, but as Christians (I know what it is written in their book) in Genesis 18-19 the destruction of Sodom is due xenophobic Sodomist (and not gays) who hate Lot and the Lord's angels since they aren't locals!
Your name tells what could one get from your words. Should Sweden seek for war to be labeled as "brave" and become "significant" in the world stage? You are so hungry for power, you so badly want to be called "brave" that you let so many people die for a meaningless war. Sweden is not a coward, it is a humble country. Sweden is significant in the world. It is one of the most respected country in the world (if you just checked a news article on the Local a few days ago, survey results show that Sweden is one of the most respected country in the world).
Someone has been killed in the service of his country.
We are all guests in this country.
Maybe someone you should stop and think, before typing nonsense.
Alot of people here talking out there arses whom have never steped foot into Afghanistan, never helped to rebuild a school or a medical clinic, never stood over a cowards bomb to protect the innocent lives of those whom live with this threat everyday.
We may not all agree with the reasons for going there or the choices our freely elected govt. Makes in backing the ISAF. But this was a fellow Swed who made the choice to stand for a belief, to have actions speak louder then words.
Its easy to yell from the sidelines where it is safe, sleep in your warm beds while good men and women stand in harms way.
My time in Afghanistan gave me a special plus in my heart for the great people Of Afghanistan, I hope there country finds a way forward in peace so Torbjorn's scrafice will not be in vain
First: this is a battlefield, not a nightclub or a school, so of course people get killed and injured.
Second: the western soul is not worth than other nations' lives. The western troops kill thousands of people in Afghanistan and Iraq, and we don't see reaction from people here, but when one westerner gets killed, everyone is upset.
Third: Sweden is a foreign army in Afghanistan; it is an occupying army. That means Afghani people are entitled according to the international law to defend themselves. So a Swedish soldier in killed there; to hell. Swedes and westerners should not be arrogant. Why do they give themselves a right to defend themselves and to form armies but at the same times they don't give others a right to defend themselves?
Forth: those who fish on the dirty waters; get lost! Don't put Islam in everything. This is a story about foreign troops are occupying another country. If a foreign troops reoccupying Sweden, Swedes will defend themselves. The international law give everyone a right to defend themselves.
Fifth: foreign troops in Afghanistan and Iraq have murdered lots of innocent civilians there, so I don't feel sorry for them; yet to hell since they are the occupiers!
Sixth: all people on earth glorify resisting foreign occupation. France and UK and other European nations still celebrate the victory against the Nazis and mourn the soldiers who fought the German occupying troops. So, no one should call me extremist here when I doff my hat to Taliban since they are impressively fighting the foreign occupation of their country.
my biggest condolence to the family, hope the best for them.
WW2.. yes maybe Sweden let those Nazis cross Swedish land.. so what? Nazis army are evils you brand it.. the other side.. angel? angel who burn the Japanese soil with atomic bombs that cannot differentiate between civilian and army?
Winston Churchill ? Who is this man... Swede? No! So he should not care about Swedes life! He is UK war leader.. of course he want someone to join him in the ring... so what he said about Sweden is GARBAGE!
There is no point showing your bravery to support badl war leaders against another bad war leaders... And if Swedish let these 2 sides fight each other then what?
Coward? haha... Thats good and very intelligent decision if you want to know it!
The same things have been said during Vietnam war, and I wonder where those evil communist armies live now and what do they do now without US army there (if it really exists)... are they eating their own body to survive now or raping his own ass now? haha..
Or now they are no more evils since US withdrawal without winning the war and already become good Vietnam citizen that make their country now one the best 3rd world country in South East Asia... and the question is why these Vietnamese people only become evils while those "good" army are there?
The westerner troops there because people need them!!!! what kind of garbage is this? the same with Nazi, they were telling their people that people want them...the same classical colonization discourse, when Napoleon occupied Egypt and other countries, he was claiming that he is there because people want him.......
people in Afghanistan definitely want Tabliban..why? because it is natural that people reject the foreign occupation of their countries but the occupier all the time try to convince the public that people are not against him so the occupier irrationalizes the resistance and fighting against the occupier...
if people really don't want taliban, then how come talibans are so strong? the taliban power is derived from people. if taliban does not get support from people, they cannot succeed in attacking the criminal occupiers..it is obvious that talibans gets support and cover from people...but we are all the time used to that...the occupier claims that people don't want to fight the foreign troops....what kind of garbage is this? do you people wan to tell me here that swedes and americans and canadians and germans care about afghanis more than the afghani people? it is all the time like this; we are used to the western arrogance; the west is god-oriented and want to develop others.....and others are evil-oriented and they fight because they are extremists and terrorists...
of course for the west, the arabs and muslims do not have the right to defend themselves....swedes and the west are the only ones who fight to defend themselves!!!!
ok if we accept that sweden and US wanna help people, then why not sending troops to palestine to help them to liberate themselves and to help them to fight the israeli barbarism, and to help them against the israeli colonization of Palestine..........if sweden really wants peace and care about others, then why sweden gives the criminal and terrorist israelis weapons to massacre palestinians and steal their land?
second: the terrorist is the one who occupies others, so the swedish troops and US troops are the real terrorists...Talibans are freedom fighters
In Cambodia, commies caused about 2 million deaths in 3 years (1976-1979), 20% of the entire population, again, in peace time.
All these happened after the Americans left.
American troops are still in Korea, and you don't hear millions of deaths in Korea, do you?
Maybe you still forgot the facts that there are 2 sides of Vietnam govt involved in this war.
1) The North Vietnamese government. They viewed the war as a colonial war, fought initially against France, backed by the United States, and later against South Vietnam, which it regarded as a US puppet state.
2) South Vietnam, supported by the "United States" and other anti-communist nations.
Yes American troops are in South Korea now, nobody dies there.. and this troops just keeping those both North and South Korean apart (in other words so they cannot be friend or united as 1 Korean Nation).
Are you serious? Do you honestly believe the propaganda you spew? The U.S has troops there to keep the Koreas apart? You should take a class in international relations, specifically determent. Then you should take a history lesson and realize that N and S Korea are still technically at war. Those American troops are there to support the S Korean troops from the N Korean troops stationed directly opposite them in the DMZ. You also realize that the North Korean army at the DMZ vastly outnumbers the S Korean army. The U.S is an ally of South Korea and their forces are there to support the South. The North will not attack because it would be a provocation of war against both South Korea and the United States. If that were to occur, North Korea would certainly lose their sovereignty.
The WWII examples you bring up further show your ignorance. Without the blood and sweat of these evil Western countries, you'd either be speaking German or Japanese right now. I'm not going to debate the morality of using the atomic bomb, but you are extremely naive to think that astounding numbers of civilians would not have been caught in the cross fire of a ground invasion. Do you not know the story of the island wars of WWII. Every last soldier would have fought to the very end.
That's it. I just wanted to refute you on two ridiculous points you made. It's pretty sad to turn an article honoring a brave soldier with divisive political dribble in the comments section. There's a forum on this site for you to go off the deep-end. My thoughts go out to the family.
When 2 brothers fight each other, usually it will only for short period of time and with only small harm to each other... and at the end, they will reunited back because of their family ties...
But if 1 brother fight with his brother + 1 big guy with him, this brother with will almost certainly get hurt so bad if not being killed by his own brother that being supported by this 1 big guy!
Thats my point my friend and I don´t want to give more detail about this anymore.. you can think of yourself...
And I say it here to answer other people comment, not started my own thread here my friend...
My thoughts go out to the family too..
and I always hope this war never happen so no one get killed and I think this is the highest honors to all army involve in the war there (ask any army there, be it US army or any nation army, no one want to be there if they could!)
because you all say the same freaking ting over and over and over.. it is like you have not one original idea amongst yourselves..Sweden is an AWESOME country with AWESOME people..beautiful women, amazing culture but from time to time.. i see idiot comments from a FEW swedes the majority of the Swedes actually understand what is going on 99% of the mulsims do not..
so to the 1% of muslims ( though i havent seen any on this board yet) and the countless Swedes that actually understand what is going on.. keep up the good work!
to the rest of you fools
keep entertaining me...please!
my country didnt start this war Osama Bin Lardass did just remember that
my thoughts go out to the young solider that lost his life for a war he may not have asked for but for the peace he fought for, America has lost a lot of people and it is a shame..too bad Bill Clintion's people missed their target 12 years ago all of this mess could have been avoided
again I am sorry for Sweden's loss and I hope y'all treat him like a hero he clearly was
Your view on the two Koreas is taken out of the communist north Korea textbook, which nobody believes. The communist east Germany used to say the same thing, and the history has proven that that is all propaganda. Fact is, American troops are still in Germany right now, and the Germany is united for decades.
Anyway, people believe what they want to believe. Reality does not matter much.
"We love death. The US loves life. That is the difference between us two." - Osama Bin Laden.
Negotiate peace with that!
Now get your soft asses out of Aghanistan, we don't need your 500 hundred troops (a bone).
We will do
@ memyselfandi
that was a bit harsh but i see your point...but in the same breath it is just a few candy asses that are crying on here for the most part.. the educated ones are understanding whats going on
the volvo's are ugly but they are better than any american made car or truck..be honest...
