Botched Swedish breast job patient's file faked

Published: 26 Nov 10 08:51 CET | Print version
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/30442/20101126/

The medical file of a woman from southern Sweden who remains in a coma three months after a botched breast augmentation procedure in Poland was changed after the surgery, media reports revealed on Friday.

The file stated that the woman, identified only as Christina by SVT's investigative news programme Uppdrag Granskning last week, woke up after the surgery, newspaper Sydsvenskan reported on Friday.

Four nurses blew the whistle on the changes to the case file three days after the surgery in Gdansk. A hospital director hid the note and suspicious case, the report said.

According to the false medical records, the Swedish woman woke up after the surgery in August, had contact with the staff and was able to orient herself.

In reality, however, the surgery resulted in the woman receiving a serious brain injury, leaving her in a coma from which she has not woken.

More information was also likely forged, Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza added.

The hospital director has not been able to explain her actions and has been dismissed. The incident has attracted intense scrutiny in the Polish news media and an investigation by prosecutors in Gdansk into the procedure is under way.

Swedish medical tourism company Medica Travel arranged the breast surgery at a clinic belonging to a state hospital in the Polish port city. However, the hospital does not have authorisation to operate on private foreign patients.

The 31-year-old woman received the surgery as a gift from her fiancé ahead of her wedding next year. She has since returned to Sweden and is now cared for at Skåne University Hospital. The possibility of her regaining consciousness is considered remote.

According to Polish authorities, the hospital in Gdansk could be liable for the unsuccessful operation.

yes all prayers for Christina..

And to girls here, Please do not go for such nasty stuff, we love you and will keep loving you how you are & how you look like. Its not your fault OR any fault itself, what only matters is really how you are inside.

They say, date the one looks sexy but choose the best mom to your kids, choose the later side..

Ladies, if your fiancé gives you breast implants as a gift, even if you are the one who wants them, run away fast. That is not the man you want in your life.

Was that a gift to her, or was it a gift to his own desire???

There are several warnings to be taken from this story:

Never trust a man who wants to change you.

Never try to change yourself just to please another.

Never trust life-and-death decisions made by people with political motives.

And although a doctor can bury his mistakes, when the doctor works for the government, the graves can become well-hidden indeed.

Where does it say in the article that the guy gave her the gift for his own pleasure. In fact I wouldn't imagine this is the kind of gift someone would dream of offering if it was not mentioned or pined after.

"The 31-year-old woman received the surgery as a gift from her fiancé ahead of her wedding next year."

She might have asked for them herself - or wanted them and he gave it thinking it would make her happy. Regardless, I think the poor guy has enough to deal with without being blamed for forcing her to have breast implants.

Don´t EVER get those transplants, unless the other has been eaten by cancer.

Just don´t.

Where´s the point? It ain´t about the tits, it ain´t about the legs.

It´s about the ARSE!

"According to Polish authorities, the hospital in Gdansk could be liable for the unsuccessful operation."

Yes, that would be correct. Understatement of the year.

But why go to Poland and why have the surgery?

Also, not to the Editor:

"leaving her in a coma from which she has not woken"

Clunky and wrong

How about... ...from which she has not awakened?
22:44 November 26, 2010 by Jarvilainennen
For big breasted women I´d still advice to ware a bra nontheless. It does not look too well to have a pair of "Kenyas" you throw on your shoulder as you wash your arm pits.
23:06 November 26, 2010 by Swedesmith
@Jarv

Do they offer arse implants? Mine's a little flat...I believe you Swedes call it påsröv.
23:30 November 26, 2010 by Jarvilainennen
"Us" Swedes I do not know of. I´m from..the moon, but I´m sure you can get a genuine looking African arse if you want one.

Call your local supplier.
01:42 November 27, 2010 by bolababu
@Jarv; yeah, same as Africans get swedish arse all the time right?
10:49 November 27, 2010 by Jarvilainennen
Yup. And every time I open the TV, there´s plenty of big African arse swinging around to a drum beat straight outta lake Tanganjyika.

She will be fine very soon. Does she have dogs? She will be happy to see them. She will be veery happy.

The title of the artikle made me think it was a Swedish doctor that botched the surgery. I think the title should be reworded to reflect that it was a Polish doctor botching a breast augmentation on a Swedish woman.
22:44 December 12, 2010 by JoJo123
Every guy whom I have spoken to regarding the subject of breast implants has said that they do not like them, that they prefer natural breasts. It is usually the woman who wants the surgery, not only does it make some woman look better but also does amazing wonders for a girl's self-esteem if she feels uncomfortable with the way she looks. I made it sound like I have had this surgery... I do not have implants but know this by hearing of friends and other girls that do. I honestly believe that it was not the fiance whom suggested this surgery, he simply wanted to make her happy by offering to cover what she desired. I pray that they get to walk down the aisle and say their vows. Bless her.
