Why tell Al Gore? He pointed it out rather clearly in his movie. One symptom of climate change resulting from global warming is that certain areas will experience much colder winters. The basic idea of climate change is that the earth's ecology is a holistic system and each piece depends on the other pieces. When one piece gets out of whack, the other pieces adjust. These adjustments are expected to take the form of extreme heatwaves and droughts in some areas as well as extreme cold spells in other areas. Simple to understand, really.
As last weeks inconveneint data from the UN on the rate of global warming shows us - our current ideas on if & why climate change is happening are off the mark.
Their predictions just never come true: comunism turned into global slaugther, and global warming turned into global freezing.
So the science predicts something. It comes true. The denialist idiots consider this evidence the science is wrong!
Oh how ... predictable!
Luckily my Saab 9-5 will keep me safe and warm...
Can't wait to retire from this chaos (191 months and counting...) and spend every Dec, Jan and Feb in Florida..!
Another group of these scientists has just returned from the arctic summer to tell us that polar ice is melting. They will now head to the antarctic summer to prove that the polar ice is melting there as well.
Guys and gals, if you tell me that "pollution is bad, we should do something about it" or "overfishing is dangerous and needs to be controlled", I'm apt to believe you. Don't feed me self-contradictory bullsh*t and expect me to believe it.
It would be more accurate to indicate that more energy is entering the system - if you do that to a refrigerator, then one part gets hotter (the back of the fridge) whereas another part gets colder (the inside).
Again, simplistic !
Forty years ago we were all warned how CFCs were creating a hole in the ozone that would cause the onset of the next ice age. More recently we've been told that carbon emissions will lead to steadily rising temperatures all over the globe (i.e. global warming). Given that the facts don't quite line up with the "science", maybe it's time to drop the dogma and consider that there may be other factors at work (e.g. changing proximity to the sun, sun spots, etc.).
Al used his Oscar-winning fraud to pump up shares of his pyramid scam, the Chicago Climate Exchange. He has made millions off suckers like you who invested in his bullcrap.
Well, last year he took his profits and sold his share of the CCE which has now closed its doors. What did he do with his gains? Did he invest in new climate research? Did he move to higher ground?
Nope. He spent nearly ten million dollars on an opulent beach house in Malibu.
I ask you: if you were convinced global warming was causing sea levels to rise, would you spend ten million dollars on a fancy house on the beach?
Now, I know a lot of Americans are "under water" in their mortgages right now.
But that situation is still preferable to spending ten million bucks on a mansion that will soon be under the Pacific Ocean.
When will you lunkheads realize you've been had by the Political "Scientists?"
But it always funny to see the warmest try to ignore that the weather is just doing what is has for 100's of years. Which just shows that the climate isn't changing.
Thank you mother nature for exposing the climate change scam.
The global warming alarmists have sure got a racket going! If it's very warm, they say it's global warming, oops, I mean climate change! (Duh! The climate is ALWAYS changing!) Then when it's very cold, they say that too is global warming, oops, I mean climate change!
What a racket!
The so-called science behind the man-made climate change movement has been discredited, yet the true-believers doggedly persist in this global fraud.
Each party know they are right, and nothing is going to change that.
I'm still freezing my balls off when I cycle to work though.
It is not even winter yet!
AGW is politically dead in the US, as dead as the fictitious drowned polar bears.
Put another way, the hockey stick is now ....pucked. If the US isn't going to cripple itself economically by submitting to an unprovable theory, the rest of the world (China and Indian, for example) won't do so either.
@Stockholm Sam: look it up
Their theory was expanded to include these cooling "predictions" only *after* the planet went back into the expected natural cooling cycle when sunspots started to diminish. Just another Convenient Lie from the Al Goracle and his loony acolytes.
"One symptom of climate change resulting from global warming is that certain areas will experience much colder winters."
Funny, isn't it?! If one symptom of climate change from global warming was much colder winters then ... hell ... the warming cannot be global.

A Mini Ice Age covered most of Europe for 500 years ending about 1790, this cooling was caused by increased emission from a newly active cycle of volcanic eruptions. During this ice age period European population dropped by 20 million due to death caused by starvation brought on by crop failure. People took their babies out in the forest and left them to die because they could not feed another. The Vikings all died on Greenland. epidemics spread across the land killing millions.
Human life today is only possible because of the global warming that began in 1790, humans do well in the warm climate, they can produce food to provide for their populations. Not only should we hope for continued global warming, it is essential to the survival of man, not destructive to man.
The global warming believers would do well to read some history, and mostly recognize man survives within narrow climate limits, which, most of all, we have no control over, or ability to impact over an area as large as the earth.
This is what Climate Experts predicted in 2000
"Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past" headline was posted in the Independent newspaper in the UK on March 20, 2000.
"Britain's winter ends tomorrow with further indications of a striking environmental change: snow is starting to disappear from our lives.
However, the is so far manifesting itself more in winters which are less cold than in much hotter summers. According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become "a very rare and exciting event".
"Children just aren't going to know what snow is," he said. (end)
And he stood by his statement in 2010!
Mail Online 1/10/10
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1242011/DAVID-ROSE-The-mini-ice-age-starts-here.html
Now the head of a British Council programme with an annual £10 million budget that raises awareness of global warming among young people abroad, Dr Viner last week said he still stood by that prediction:
'We've had three weeks of relatively cold weather, and that doesn't change anything.
'This winter is just a little cooler than average, and I still think that snow will become an increasingly rare event."
Warning:
You'd better collect and freeze some snow so you can show your grandchildren what it looks like. The snow in Sweden is just another "rare event'.
There are some of you saying this is another one of those fools that doesn't believe. OH MY GOD! OK All you very intelligent educated ones. Try this one on. GLOBAL WARMING can be measured on all of the other planets in our system and it seems without any people the interfere the rate of warming is the same as Earth. WOW The SUN and we can't control that can we. The sun has been heating up. There has been a period of higher solar flare activity. Go ahead take your best shot. Truth will prevail !
Climate change Indeed! Co2 (known to be a plant's best friend since 6th grade science) is now the enemy! It's a dodge a hustle, a scam. We must crush the Infamy.....and it's not co2.......it's three con artists named Gore, Manning and Jones!
Some posters refuse to see the truth and robotically regurgitate anything they read when writing; "it's getting colder just like the warmest predicted". One hardly has to be a thermodynamicist to see the lunacy in such proclamations. For the record; the refrigerator comment was completely wrong! If you add heat anywhere to a refrigerator, it won't experience decreased temperatures. The same peculiar leap in logic would have us believe that a planet predicted to warm is now cooling because of ......wait for it.......global warming. Unfortunately, not everyone bought the latest line of bs, so (in the spirit of P. T. Barnum) our friends at CRU have floated a new buzz word: climate change.
Say it with me: Climate change....climate change.....CLIMATE CHANGE! The planet gets colder it's our fault. The planet gets warmer; you guessed it.....it's our fault. It's a safer bet than the Cubs winning the World Series and every bit as pathetic.
"Nobody has any idea. It's like we're playing a global game of The Price Is Right: We're standing here with a fistful of dollars, we don't know what's behind any of the doors, and everyone in the audience is shouting."

In my opinion a good site for info on the subject. I posted a link to an article relating to this story, but the whole site is full of info.

of the global temperature curve and the winter weather is
this cold. Holy hell freezing over if the curve goes back to the
level at the 19th centry?
Whenever anybody wants me to "buy it now" or advertises "it's only available today", all my suspicions come alive. No wonder the climate change gang is having a hard time selling the science. The supporters should also refrain from calling people who are not willing to send their money to people they don't know, stupid. On the contrary, I think they are courageous.
And all the left wingers that go on about how religion is terrible and science is great. They seem to never support real science. If you supported real science you wouldn't believe we are causing climate change and you wouldn't have a problem with GMO crops.
(For those of you who don't really get it, that's a sarcastic remark.)
Having a problem with GM crops has nothing to do with climate change. The only problem that Monsanto lobbyists such as you have is that in Europe we do not buy into to your lies and cover-ups of the desire to control world food production
God Bless.......................................................................................
Most of you are doing what U.S. conservatives do when they fear that something might impinge on their "freedom": attack the messenger, promote an example that supports their worldview as if extrapolating from a specific example to a general conclusion is valid (it's not), etc. If you can't support your view with valid scientific arguments, then your views are pure rubbish and nothing but your uneducated opinions. If you, instead, practiced responsibility, you could avoid what you fear the most which is some higher authority limiting your irresponsible behavior. "Freedom" without "responsibility" will not make this world a better place when there are now billions of people whose irresponsible behaviors are changing the climate.
I have a Ph.D. in chemistry, so I understand how the scientific process works. Comments made by many of you indicate that you don't have a clue. I also worked for 3 years at probably the premier climate research center in the world, the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), in Boulder, CO. But climate change is not my expertise, so I won't second-guess climate scientists as you are doing.
What I find is amazing that anyone would think that the rapid increase in the population of humans who exhale CO2, the rapid reduction in CO2-absorbing plants caused by humans' clearing of vast forests, the huge increase in the numbers of greenhouse-gas-producing livestock for human consumption, the rapid release of CO2 by the burning of petroleum and coal which had removed CO2 from the atmosphere over millions of years, and other huge changes that humans have and are continuing to make at an ever-increasing pace would have no negative effects on the climate.
We should fear any rapid change in our climate as is now occurring. But when its predominate cause is human activity, we have the power to solve the problem. If rapid climate change was caused by a natural event like a large meteor impact, we would be almost powerless. The U.S. is being left behind by countries like Sweden and China who are developing and selling technologies to increase the world's energy efficiency, something that everyone should support.
You who deny something that you don't understand should be ashamed of yourselves because you are endangering not us, so much, but our descendants. I suspect that you really care only about yourselves and you don't really care about what you leave for your descendants to deal with.
1. "I wonder how you climate change skeptics would feel if someone who knows nothing about your area of expertise pontificated about your area of expertise"
2. "I have a Ph.D. in chemistry ... so I won't second-guess climate scientists"
3. "What I find is amazing ... negative effects on the climate"
Or, to precis ...
"Naughty non-climate-scientists, daring to have an opinion on something they aren't formal experts in. I'm a Chemist, so I won't give my opinion on Climate. Now, here's my opinion on Climate ..."
[BTW, Alohart, do you ever give an opinion on sport? or politics? or anything other than chemistry? By your own argument, you should keep shtum on all that other stuff]
Translation: Contrary to what we were taught regarding scientific methods; ours is not to question why; ours is to serve our scientifically superior overlords. Surly you must see that some pigs are more equal than others.
Anyone remember the "hole in the ozone layer" panic of a few years ago? Or how about the "earth is running out food" panic?
Lastly: don't present something as "fact" when at least 20% of the scientists involved in studying climate (perhaps more - but they're too sacred to come out) disagree. You cannot have a large block of specialists doubt your conclusions and yet pretend those conclusions are facts!

And again the question, why is there similar or larger increases in planet surface temperatures???
Just keep rejecting science when it fits your needs. Keep watching the world pass you by while you sit at your computer telling yourself you know better.
