Well said. However, let us sincerely hope that one incompetent would-be bomber is not able to induce a climate of terror and fear in this entire country. It should be a battle of the minds but let us also sincerely hope that the bodies that require it are arrested or expelled from Sweden or both.

The non-shooting war against Western societies is very real and every bit as sinister and evil . The fact that it lacks the graphic imagery of body parts flying does not make it OK.

Ahhhhhhh! i think what she forgets to mention or couldn't find it worth mentioning is that many more people have been killed in Pakistan due to suicide bombing related voilence than any nation in the world involved in occupation of Afghanistan.. One should keep the facts straight rather than distorting. More innocent human beings have been killed in Afghanistan and Iraq due to the wars than any where in the world. And the freedom that she is mentioning is limited to her own definition, what about Wikileaks, which have been prevented by the very same freedom loving countries when it started showing facts. Since you mentioned about the Nazis, did the Nazis kill the Jews, other Christians such as the Poles, communists such as Russians etc in the name of Christianity? They killed in the name of Nazism. Now, compare that with suicide bombings in the past decade. They are overwhelmingly carried out by Muslim extremists who do it in the name of Islam. As I would doubt what was being taught in German schools during the Nazi reign, I would doubt what is being taught in extremist madrasahs and mosques today. Notice I say extremist schools and mosque, meaning not all schools and mosques are Muslims.

I'm certainly not saying that all Muslims are being led astray. However, there are many madrasahs that teach extremism all over the Islamic world. Hey, but don't trust my words, check it out yourself on Islamist websites and check out their lecture notes and syllabus if you read Arabic, Persian, Urdu or Indonesian (I read in two of them). They may not be many, maybe even a minority in the Islamic world but you don't need 500 million suicide bombers to wreak havoc, you just need a few thousand.

I'm very glad for Muslims who speak out against the negative things that extremist Muslims do in the name of Islam. Alhamdulillahi rabb il-'alamin for that and I say jazakallahu khairan kathira to you.

I simply oppose the Muslim cultural invasion of Europe. With one hand they brutalize, torture and kill minorities, non-believers, women and gays in their part of the world and with the other they cry for us to tolerate their intolerant beliefs as they slowly undermine our values and way of life.

I am an international student for about two years and the reason I chose Sweden over countries like US, Australia, UK and even Canada, was due to what I read about its culture and thoughtful approach to life.

The way the Swedes, natives and immigrants, have reacted to this attack speaks volumes about the intellectual abilities of the people living in this great nation.

I am surrounded by Muslim and Arab students in my university, and every single one of them lashed out in anger against this man.

While this can be clearly categorized as an attack carried out by extremist members of a religion, but so many things do not make sense:

1. There were 2 attacks and just one attacker. Why did he feel he needed to explode himself when he could remote detonate the bomb, like it was the case in the other care.

2. I understand men living in desperate conditions and war zones carrying out suicide bombings, but why a Swedish immigrant? Why would a family man do such a thing?

In my view, just as the Malmo immigrants attacker, who is being analyzed by psychologists, the actions of these men make no sense.

Why would a man of Iraqi origin worry about 500 troops in Afghanistan? There are troops helping out from across the world in Afghanistan, including troops from Arab countries.

I hope the Swedish investigators manage to understand the root cause. If he did what he did, then it must be asked why? Because this even isn't in line with the attacks carried out by alleged religious extremists before.

He was in UK and got radicalized there, as it is reported, then why not carry out his attacks there? UK troops are not only in Afghanistan, but also in Iraq.

All these questions must be asked!

By your comment in #42; I am not sure, but I believe your point is that Muslims, who live in Europe should probably change their religion to something more favourable one in Europe like Christianity, or may be Europeans in general should stop Muslims of coming to Europe, or Europeans should let them live in Europe under conditions dictated by European countries? I can't come to more alternatives than these three.

1. About changing the religion, because, Europe is free, nobody can force Muslims to change to Christianity, and after all why should Christianity be better, there had been long wars between Catholics and Protestants and the domination of church which had been Dark Age of Europe.

2. About Stopping Muslims to come to Europe, it can be possible with a condition, and the condition is exactly what suicide bombers are asking. The suicide bombers ask the west to keep their feet out of the Muslim world, and then Muslim keeps their feet out of the West. But the problem is west has to keep its feet in Muslim world. Take as an example this suicide bomber in the article from Iraq, the whole country is ruined because of their oil, and to control that oil is vital for western civilization and economy, as controlling other resources from developing countries have been vital for western economy during the direct colonialism for long time. The cultural invasion of Europe by Muslims has been created by Europeans and can be ended by Europeans.

3. About letting Muslims live in Europe under condition dictated by European. It's actually what we are experiencing at present. Take for example Sweden; the Moslims, and in general immigrants are the second class citizens in here, the chance to find a good job for Muslims is low and mostly ended up in the bottom of the society, no matter of their education and abilities.

You're right, that is the real question. What to do in practical terms?

First, stop all immigration from Muslim countries entirely under any circumstances.

Secondly, something along the lines of Germany's handling of Scientology, another virulent cult, is probably the model. Not easy, but it's possible the conflict will escalate to a level that makes it possible politically.

As far as immigrants being second class citizens, that is almost always the case in the first generation anywhere in the world. The US is a country of immigrants who chose to assimilate and all of them, Irish, Jew, Italian, etc. were hated and mistreated and in the first generation and became assimilated by the second.

Today, hispanic immigrants are in menial jobs in the first generation and the second generation kids are going to college, getting good jobs and indistinguishable from white Americans. That's why most immigrate illegally to the US. White/hispanic intermarriage is the norm in mixed areas. They work very hard and take advantage of the opportunities available to them.

For some reason, many Muslim immigrants manage to stay second class citizens after the first generation despite having the world on a platter in form of the Swedish social system which is infinitely more generous than that of the US. Hard work and a willingness to assimilate neither of which are Muslim values, are required instead of a helpless victim mentality and blaming the blue eyed infidel devils who pay their bills.

I think it's very good that you mentioned the Europe should stop all immigration from the Muslim countries. one very disturbing and worrying aspect of the Islamic Homocide bomber is the report that he may have only picked up his hatred in London. It is a known fact that mosques in Britain have been caught out for preaching hatred towards Christians and Hindus in general and Jews in particular. The mosques in Sweden have condemned the bomber. How very nice of them.

Please consider this one fact from the UK and decide whether you need to question the Mosques in Sweden and any Moslem schools you may have.

Since 2008, Luton Council have handed out £554,000 of tax payers money to Mosques, Islamic schools and moslem sowen's projects to prevent young Moslems from being radicalised. What was the result of this? The authorities have never received one tip off. We learn today that some people have said the bomber became radicalised. Why did they not report him? Simple answer; they are not allowed to inform on their Moslem brothers and sisters. So said many Islamic leaders. So where does that leave the Iskamic leaders in Sweden, do they have this same attitude? Perhaps, they need to be questionned.

Many comments and many points of view which show a mixed reaction to this problem. First of all I think one should ignore reading comments that speak in a general sense. However, I do tend to agree with one 'nice' comment above which says that when you see muslims doing such bombings, people tend to think of muslims as terrorists with a maximum generalizability of such a statement. Anyone with a familiar-thinking style, which in fact the case of many of ourselves, would think just like this. Muslims should not be angry about this fact of having others i.e. westerns think about them this way.

Second, I would strongly argue that most muslims in the arab world would denounce such actions and whether you agree with me or not, this is a subject for discussion and I would invite doubters to visit the arab world and see the reaction by themselves without being driven by the incitement that we often found in many reports of different news agencies, which most often provide an egocentric point of view. At this point, I would say that speaking of muslims as "terrorists" is not something appropriate given the current circumstances in our world. Its clear as much as the sun that there is a war against Islam. Media is attacking Islam, general public tend to express concerns about muslims, etc. Everyone, of course those interested to think about it, should stop for a moment and think why is that? Try to be reflective and more thoughtful beyond what you read, see, or hear in the news.

I would base my comment here by relying on Al qaeda as an example. The "war on terrorism" launched by the USA started in 9/11 against al Qaeda. Unfortunately, these are a bunch of radical muslims who has nothing to do with Islam. Why? Because Al Qaeda is like any other "organization" in the world which seeks to gain power and authority in whatever means. Of course, being natives of the middle easy they use Islam and most importantly they the use the "sentiment" of the general muslim public that is the belief that the west is an enemy of Islam and the west is the evil who wants to steal the wealth of muslims and other bla bla bla. They have of course succeeded by that at least to attract some sick and weak minds and hearts to work with them as terrorists. What is interesting here for westerns is to ask what would the arab public think about al Qaeda? I leave this question to your own investigations, perhaps visit the ME is one way to do that or maybe talk to friends here in Europe or somewhere who are originally middle Easterns. Also, Al qaeda is just one organization that comprises muslims who have their own goals and they just represent themselves, not muslims or even arabs. Can we for example say that Nazis are germans so all germans are Nazis and even Nazis are europeans and then europeans would be conceived as nazis. Similar with the Italian Maffia and the like-minded organizations.

When you have so many muslims immigrant in your country you must accept many risks like when you put your

moneys in the stock market insted to put them in bonds (it's your choice to take the risk).

This isn't the act of a sick mind but the result of a sick ideology of a specific immigrats comunity.

The bathroom was upgraded today to Hollywood standards between this morning and this afternoon. It cost a pretty pile of money which could have been donated to Magen David Adom but I can’t complain. My better half wants it that way - its part of my Torah & Kabbalah and I have to live with it.

Just now I have two jobs and ama looking for more assignments. Next month I will begin and finish a translation and continue creating cash as I pay more tax. Retirement is not too far away and then I will be moving to my favourite country in the Middle East to continue advanced philosophy. I hope to be buried there.

@ Syftfel. I did a quick google search on that quote, and there seems to be some confusion who uttered it. Some say it was Kevin Rudd, and others John Howard. I'm not disagreeing with a lot of the sentiment, but I would think that the quote probably belongs to John Howard. He was a very wily politician who knew damn well how to play the race/religion/fear card for votes.

You are a conceited buffoon Cornelius, who has prospered because he has lived in the West, not your native Nigeria/Ghana or where ever the hell you 're from. One thing is for sure, you are not Swedish, and if you are as educated as you claim, it was not in Africa that it happened now was it. But you think to give the Swedes advice on some nonsense about going out to reassure muslims. Since you are not Swedish, you have no place counselling them to do this or that, or any other course of action. You are a foreigner living amongst them who has prospered (not because of any African society presumably), and thought yourself fit to do so. You are not. You are a son of Africa living amongst a foreign people, who are not your people, however you may wish to deceive yourself.

Also, if you love Sweden so much, why are you planning on spending your final years in your favorite middle eastern country (not that I care). Go there now and save all of us the wait.

Well, that's his problem. He has lots of company to commiserate with. Thousands of suicide jihadis have preceded him. What's our problem is that many of his like minded buddies will be joining him in the future, some of whom will be much more effective in taking innocent lives along with them in the name of their 'Allah'.

Stupid an author of this text: "terrorism is the battle of minds, not of bombs". If poeple were killed after terrorist act how he could say so. It is the battle of bombs. I think so. The big question is HOW TO STOP THIS BATTLE?

Terrorism is not new in the world, it is not even new in Europe.

I can think of at least 2 native european terrorist organisations that have probably killed and maimed more than all the muslim terrorist atrocities in europe combined.

Indeed, in Northern Ireland we witness sectarian hatred and territorial ambition turned into fire and blood.

In Spain we witness the territorial ambition of a group of people so small they could very realistically be seen as an actual tribe manifest itself in bombings and shootings.

You can probably still get beaten up in Glasgow for being a Catholic in a Protestant bar, and two generations ago a Catholic would have had trouble getting work in certain professions.'

In my lifetime I have witnessed (to my shame) a European nation tear itself apart along ethnic/tribal and sectarian lines with all the ugliness, rape and torture that go hand in hand with a conflict of that nature.

There is much ugliness in the hearts of men, be glad you did not live in Yugoslavia in the 1990's and cast your mind back to that, and all the other acts of sectarian and ethnic hatred that occur in europe alone before you make statements regarding the tendency of "muslims" to engage in "muslim on muslim" tribal conflict.

There is a problem and it is within the Muslim community - people can keep pretending that it is not - but the truth is - that is where the problem lies. The Muslim people need to address the fact that their religion has been hi-jacked. The problem does not lie within a small group - the Muslims who flew the planes into the twin towers, who flew planes into the Pentagon, and who flew the plane into ground in Pennsylvania were not poor , uneducated people - they were at least middle class men who were very educated. This problem needs to be solved within the Muslim community - Australia has the right idea - go somewhere else and if you so choose to blow yourself up - OK.
