Bombing was an attack on Swedish society: PM

Sweden's prime minister Fredrik Reinfeldt used his Christmas speech to condemn the suicide bombing in Stockholm as "an attack on Swedish society", praising Muslim leaders for standing up for freedom and openness.

Speaking at Skansen open-air museum in central Stockholm on Monday, Reinfeldt focused on the recent terror attacks which killed the bomber and left two people injured.

Reinfeldt described the bomber, who blew himself up before reaching his presumed destination of a crowded shopping district, as someone who hates that which Sweden stands for - freedom, openness and diversity.

"A suicide bomber steps right into Swedish society and it is that which he challenges. Freedom and openness, it is that which he hates," Reinfeldt said.

The prime minister also referred to the fact that the attack was apparently carried out with a religious pretext.

"It had to do with religion. It is difficult to understand a secular country such as Sweden. From a starting point in religion the right is claimed to threaten others."

Reinfeldt underlined that the religions are not ranked according to importance in Sweden and that even atheists deserve respect for their non-faith.

"In multicultural Sweden the religions exist side-by-side," he said.

Furthermore, Reinfeldt reserved praise for the strong reactions from Swedish Muslim leaders after the attack and argued that imams and others had clearly defended Sweden's openness and condemned the terror attacks.

"I welcome the fact that Muslim Sweden has unequivocally stood up."

Reinfeldt interpreted the reactions in that there is a strong sense of unity over the importance of fighting for openness, freedom and diversity in Sweden.

He stated that everyone can understand the importance of upholding "the contract", which means that you can't just make use of openness and freedom for your own gain, but do your bit to enable others to be able to do the same.

"Bombing was an attack on Swedish society." PM.

These acts are demonstrably ineffectual attempts to favour the interests of severely oppressed, ill-treated and exploited people by north-western governments and the powers that be though the use of military force and equally unethical, immoral and unjust acts. By comparison a 9/11, Madrid Atocha, London attack would be necessary daily over a period decades to reach the same levels of what has been done in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Pakistan etc. (It certainly makes one think. What is all this really about?) I will side step broaching the anomalies, inconsistencies and questions arising regarding the authenticity of perceived perpetrators.

These acts cause division, search for scapegoats, victimization, racism, loss of rights, treasury misspending; as opposed to focusing the populous on the real problems and effects faced by 98% of the regular folk on this planet at the hands of a few very infirmly clever people.

Anyone who cares to exercise their mind, analyse and reason will draw more chilling concrete conclusions. In the meantime let us hope as Kippling said, "If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs…"

On a personal note; I simply ask questions without preconceived prejudice, analyse all the acts and find myself unconvinced by what I am supposed to be led is the truth.

In the meantime it strikes me strange that so many people are made to suffer, so many people cause immense suffering. Almost everyone is tainted by it, it solves nothing. I wonder how on earth are we led to this, what does it say about our minds, supposed free will, the respective ability to reason and act on what we should know is right?

The answer tends to be, it's very complicated. Is it?

I have to agree that the condemnation from the muslim community leaders in Sweden, was a welcome surprise.
12:40 December 21, 2010 by saar
@calebian22

Now we can to be happy again - Wee, they condemned it!

What did you expect them to say? They are not stupid.

There were condemnations after 9/11, London, Madrid, etc. Has anything changed? No.

Words are the easy part.
13:01 December 21, 2010 by Rishonim
They made the condemnation with their fingers crossed.

Well-said, Mr. Bush...er...I mean, Mr. Reinfeldt.

What I want to know is, why were those terrorist-plotting bastards who only get 4 years in jail in Gothenburg not just sent back to Somalia? Why should we keep them here? Their intent on causing death and destruction will only be strengthened when they are released.

@saar

I'm amazed for your great ability to read people's mind! Now that you are so good in reading people's mind rather than what they say, you should be employed in courts. We really need people like you then we don't need all those lengthy expensive investigations!
14:43 December 21, 2010 by calebian22
saar,

My only point was that this condemnation was much more forceful and vocal, based on the basic lack of damage the bomber caused, as compared to the condemnations from imams after much larger events such as 9/11 or 7/7.

An attack on Swedish society. Indeed it was. And Jonsol69, it really isn't that complicated, although you people and your bloodthirsty jihad spreading followers are trying to make it so, by pulling out the bigotry charge at every turn. Unable to function in a democracy, you either are lack in the mental acuity to see your own idiocy, or you are blind followers Hizb-al-Ithwan al Musmin. If Sweden, and other Western nations do not hear the alarm bells going off as a wakeupcall, you can kiss her goodbye, and watch as a Northern kaliphate takes root. Sweden needs take a chainsaw and extract this jihad metastatic poison. And soon! Reinfeldt should have saved his praise for these so called "muslim leaders", these experts in the domain of deceipt, who are out in other errands. They wish to squash the traditional Christian culture of Scandinavia, and replace it with loudspeaker enhanced calls to prayer wafting over Swedens rooftops. Sorry iraniboy (and Reinfeldt), diversity has never improved anything. Ever. Let's try something else.

His head smells like some countries presidents behind...You guys figure out.

Like I said again the big bully's was training people in the middle east to commit such acts.

The middle east news Papers who are neutral have lots of proofs that show that the big bully did organize such acts of Terror and even paid so called big bearded religious men to train faint minded idiots like Mr so above...

They even had phantoms created that their Space intelligents program their high tech army + allies couldn't find...the guy they keep on using as their strong card every now and then to lure people...

These games have become so boring that we are so fed up of!!...Julians issue they tried to dim the light on it...didn't work Either because no matter how big the bully is God is bigger not God of any religion but the God who created mankind.

They say Oh my God now the freedom of speech is being lost...why talk about freedom of speech if there is no human rights from the beginning now whomsoever they don't like they clean up and put to sleep, I do hope they do not start targeting commentators.

God may have mercy on this earth.

"Was one attack to Swedish Society" OH! Really! Just now he figure out.

There is no future for Sweden by keeping muslims in the country.

Nothing lost forever. The Welfare System, peace, human behaviour.

All good things come to a end.
19:35 December 21, 2010 by motti
of course the clerics at the mosques condemned the attack. what did you expect them to say. How naive can people be.

If the bomber received his indotrination in the UK, it is because he chose to do what he did. The thought was there prior to his being in Luton.

Luton Council spent £554,000 of tax payers money to local Islamic Centres since 2008. What was the result? Condemnations, but understanding of the criminal intentions and not one little piece of information to the police about their fears or suspicions. It only comes out afterwards. Why? Because they will not cause harm to a fellow Muslim against the white crusaders in Europe.

Where will Swedish society be in 50 years from now?

I can read in what the prime minister said the same thing which Mr. Bush said

long time ago, and after that Bush started a false war against terrorists which has

been proved afterwords that it was a big lie and a shame on the humanity.
21:26 December 21, 2010 by Syftfel
@Decoster: Try that again Decoster! Who started the war? And how was it a "lie"?
21:41 December 21, 2010 by unseen
@Syftfel,

it is hard for you to get it, isn't it?

let me break it down for you,

@Syftfel,

i was like 'im not gonna accept whatever shi*t he's gonna get back to me with'

but not this one!

well said,

& fair enough

btw, saying their sand, you mean my sand, i am just an Iraqi ;)

Terrorists have no religion. They are sich minded people who beleive only in terrorism. This is not truth that their target is Non muslims, they are killing Muslims as well, See in Pakistan, Afghanistan etc. Thousands of innocent people have been killed by these suicide bombers.

Terrorism can't be stoped untill USA don't stop funding, training and projectin these terrorists.
00:52 December 22, 2010 by qed16
Oh, the imams condemned it. We must be safe now.

The same sort of Muslim "scholars" who expound on the Koran granted permissions to beat your wife and have sex with children. Pious men indeed...

And as usual it's everyone else's fault that Muslim cult members commit more violence and atrocities. From the jungles of the Phillipines to the snowy streets of Stockholm they bring nothing but evil and chaos.

But of course it has nothing to do with the institutional psychopathy of the "religion of peace"... We can only look forward to a future world without Islam.

I am NOT a Muslim.

I am NOT from the Middle East or related to anyone from that region.

I am NOT associated with any violent, political or protest groups.

I find your comment, in referring to me and such organisations slanderous.

As I believe in free speech I shall not click on 'report abuse', but am clearly entitled to.

Anyone who reads and understands my comments knows i urge peaceful analysis, thought and reason.

Anyone who looks at my blog site will find only art and literary creative pursuits, not hate, xenophobia or aggression towards any of my fellow humans whether I agree with them or not.

In future please refrain from slanderous comments towards me and others, it produces absolutely nothing edifying and accomplishes nothing.
