Migration board worker 'ate refugees' food'

Published: 28 Jan 11 15:08 CET | Print version
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/31704/20110128/

A member of the staff at Sweden's migration board (Migrationsverket) is facing the sack after having been caught eating food intended for asylum seekers.

The man is employed as an assistant at the board's facility in Märsta in northern Stockholm and is tasked with, among other things, ordering in the number of portions of food required to ensure that asylum-seekers are sufficiently fed.

Despite having received a warning after suspicions emerged that the staff member was pilfering food from the canteen, leaving supplies short for the centre's residents, he was found red-handed feasting on a dish of nasi goreng (chicken and rice), according to a report submitted to the board's disciplinary board.

"That staff take the asylum seekers' food incurs an additional cost for the Migration Board and is an abuse which could mean that portions are insufficient," according to the report.

The man himself denies that he had taken the food, arguing that the chicken and rice that was on his plate was in fact brought from home and not the aforementioned popular Asian dish.

The report expressed concern among fellow employees that the reputation of the unit and the Migration Board in general could be impacted negatively if it emerged that staff were consuming food intended for those seeking asylum in Sweden.

This is normal; the immigration board staff does worse things to the asylum seekers.

Such as, threaten the parents during the meeting in front of their children which make the children mentally ill.

That's the human right in Sweden, Great country...

I have the evidence for what I am saying if any legal firm wants it, I have audio tape.

Parental threats causes mental illness in children?

Maybe they will eat much better in their home countries and perhaps they should leave then...

No such thing as a free lunch, right?
20:41 January 28, 2011 by Truthgate
@Amber Dawn, It's the immigration officer threaten the parents in front of their children.

Nobody is complaining about the food you Stup#t, read the article in the right way, and by the way all this food is paid in double the UN, get your facts.

They are complaining about the food.

The worker is facing termination over eating the odd plate of food. Now I could understand him being fired if he was loading up the lorry with food supplies, but having a meal or two in the canteen? Not a firing offense!

my friend is saying, *he is an asylum seeker*

its not a big deal, I my self have seen two migration board employees eating the food which was for asylum seekers in facility in Gävle and they do it every day, and every one in the kitchen knew that, its happens in air ports, hospitals schools etc, I sacking just for that is not ok.

it will be wrong to relief this man of his job, he can be suspended as punishment, if they deem it fit and called back again. this is not a crime and it amounts to nothing.

1)Nasi goreng is a malay dish and nasi=rice goreng=fry so its fried rice and not (chicken and rice)

2)Seems the person is in charge for supply change management on foods and therefore, nothing wrong if he tasted the quality of food on the first hand before serving for intended persons

3)Why you people poster muds each other when such article on Refugees are published ? are all person in this forum 100 % genuine Swedish ?

4)If that person is subjected to justice, then this case could be eye-opener others to follow

5)Yes,there are other officers too needed to be accounted for such as migrationsverket feild officers especially .

"The report expressed concern among fellow employees that the reputation of the unit and the Migration Board in general could be impacted negatively if it emerged that staff were consuming food intended for those seeking asylum in Sweden."

LOL. The reputation of the Migration Board couldn't be worse than it already is.

Well that proves that the quality of food for immigrants is high :)

@technoviking

actually those who ate food were "viking" atlast old habits die hard.

Well, well, well this is just typical of the way Swedes "sort out" matters. They ALWAYS have to make mountains out of a mole hill. The reputation of the Migrationsverket went out of the window when it was named Statens Invandraverket. Perhaps if they made their employees work the correct hours each working day which they are paid for they would not have the time to eat asylum's seekers food. Ohhh sorry how stupid of me - this is Sweden where everyone has a "right" !!!! They should have merely made the worker pay for the food he ate rather than make all this unnecessary fuss. If he had done this sort of thing earlier then why the hell keep him employed.

Yummy,

All this talk about food is making Me hungry...

I could go for a BLT - Bacon Lettuce & Tomato sandwich, or maybe some Pork Chops. I quite sure it would be Okay for the insurgent looking for it's "Safe Haven" : )

But I degress,

Perhaps it's a test to see how bad they really want to be here.

That is to say, if they don't make a fuss, then they will pass for Swedish, as most Swedes kept it inside and don't stand up for themselves.
