Left Party apologises for King book review

The publisher of the Left Party's official newspaper has apologised to King Carl XVI Gustaf for publishing a recent book review that alleged he visited prostitutes with tax money, a claim not made in a recent biography about him.

"I am prepared to apologise. This was not a good publication," Anki Ahlsten, who is also the party secretary, told newspaper Expressen on Wednesday.

The unofficial tell-all biography "Carl XVI Gustaf - the reluctant monarch" ("Carl XVI Gustaf - Den motvillige monarken") went on sale on November 4th.

The Vänsterpress book review, titled "A horny king," alleges that the King paid for prostitutes using tax funds, a claim that does not appear in the book.

Sweden's Royal Court has accepted the apology, but its lawyer will continue to review the publication to determine whether to file a possible lawsuit.

Royal Court communications director Bertil Ternert told The Local on Tuesday that a course of action has not yet been decided upon.

"We don't know what actions we will take. We will wait and see what our lawyer's opinion is. We will hear from him in a couple of days. I can't comment on any details about it," he said.

"I can only say that we think our lawyer has to look at it. It has nothing to do with the book. There is no connection to that. The author of the book, he also told readers there is nothing in the book about this," said Ternert.

According to Expressen, Vänsterpress wrote in the book review, "And the Swedish people pay for the feasts, both weddings, parties and whores."

The biography on the King chronicled details of wild parties and affairs he had with young women. It is the first book of its kind in Sweden.

One of the most controversial revelations was an alleged year-long affair with Swedish singer and model Camilla Henemark, born to a Nigerian father and a founding member of the band Army of Lovers.

The King's daughter, Princess Madeleine, won libel damages worth over 3.5 million kronor ($540,000) last week from a number of German newspapers for intruding in her private life. The stories reported false allegations and claims about her life and lifestyle habits from 2000 to 2004.

The princess broke off her engagement to lawyer Jonas Bergström weeks before her sister Crown Princess Victoria's wedding to Prince Daniel in June 2010 after a Norwegian handball player reported an encounter with him. The princess is now based in New York.

The Local has made several unsuccessful attempts to contact the Royal Court for further comment on Wednesday.

Hey julieLou, I just wanted to see what you'd do. You get riled up easily, don't you? And you don't know what to say either! You need to learn to chill. This isn't serious you know, it's fun.

But you must not have a very fun life, unlike me.... living in this beautiful country, not having to work, owning a home in the US that I can go back to whenever I choose. You must have to scrape just to get by. No wonder you have such an attitude!

If you do not have a job here andhave a home in the US that you can go back to whenever you choose,

Please do us all a favour and leave NOW.

Maybe, we should follow the Egyptians and start a UScitizen out campaign

It is sooooooo predictable that the leftist vermin, social dems, SSU henchmen, and other assorted communist gasbags, would stoop to such bottom scraping lows. Their instinctive reaction is always to insult the Royal family with half truths and lies, spreading slimey ficticious innuendo with nothing to back it up. These sh*ts try to sow discontent in their useless attempts at spreading their socialist orthodoxy and intergenerational stupidity. It is the Royal bashing, sickenig left, with Mona and Ohly at the helm, that represent the forces of disorder and decay. We'd all better forget and ignore the leftist garbage!! Use their book as a fish wrap!

Are you as jealous of me as JulieLou is? You can't take a little well-deserved criticism either, can you? I usually go back home for two months in the summer. Want to come with me? No, you couldn't handle it. Stay here, be a good boy and chill out with JulieLou. You two were made for each other.

Who really cares about this Waster of Tax money, or more to the point, Airwaster.

I'm still ticked about the tax money used in the restoration of the church for the princess. I vote the king and whole monarchy step down, just think how much tax payer money will be spared for more important needs of the Scandinavians.

But what will Sweden do for a mascot?

Hire some actors like dineyland has for the enchanted castle. This way the tourists will still have a glimpse of a royal family, at least during the peak tourist season between the hours of 9 to 5, monday thru saturday, and on special events.

England still has "Real" Royalty to this day, where decisions are made in parlament. This King in Sweden gave up those rights back in the 70's.

So can someone please justify their existance today?

Just Sayin' : )

Why is everyone whose second name is Bush a bit loopy?
21:37 February 2, 2011 by Syftfel
@Kevin Harris: After that utterly corrupt, marxist, street corner leafleteer, who, thru a quirk in history, is temporarily occupying the White House, even Bush is beginning to look like a solid statesman. We need to stop O's remorseless expansion of the welfare state!! Now! Can't wait for 2012!

The Left should go and kive in the Islamist countries they so richly defend - they would last 2 minutes and realise the damage they are doing to our country.

It is so sad that the Swedes have NO respect for their Monarch and judging from comments written above nor does the foreigners living here.

Members of the Swedish Royal Family are - believe it or not - and contrary to popular belief - HUMAN BEINGS.

As a human being we are all prone to making mistakes, wrong decisions and doing other things that a majority does not approve of.

So HM The King has erred in some manner - SO WHAT - and has presumeably paid for things with the tax payer's money - SO WHAT - he may have had affairs - SO WHAT

Some people consider that the Royal Family are "Holier than Thou" but that title is held by only ONE person and He is not here on earth at present.

The King has the right to do what he considers fit and it is no other persons business what so ever. BUT having said that it is the mentality of every SWEDE to put their nose into other peoples business which inturn makes everything "our". business.

An earlier comment regarding that the British Royalty as being "real Royalty" is rather an idiotic statement. The British Royal Family has had their trials and tribulations along the years - SO WHAT. There is NO such thing as 'real' Royalty - one is either ROYAL or not. Like a woman cannot be a 'little pregnant' - she is either pregnant or not!

I sincerely hope that HM The King will take that Vänsterpress to court and sue them for MILLIONS then have the company dissolved and all their assets ceased and given to the Tax Payer.

I am very old fashioned as I was brought up to respect the Royal Family and I will continue to do that. They are an inspiration to us all and they DO attract revenue for the country. God Save the King.
