Man killed Swedish teen girl 'by mistake'

Published: 14 Feb 11 12:16 CET | Print version
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/32030/20110214/

Murder charges were filed on Monday against a 37-year-old man who claims he accidentally killed a 17-year-old girl from Blekinge in southern Sweden in August last year during a sex act "that went too far."

The man was charged with murder and disturbing the peace of the dead, as well as with child rape in connection with a separate incident from 2007.

The 37-year-old has admitted to causing the death of the Swedish teenager, referred to in the media as Johanna, but denies the murder charge. During his detention, the man was also served on suspicion of child rape.

"He has said himself that he killed Johanna by mistake during a sexual activity that went too far," police spokesperson Robert Loeffel told the Aftonbladet newspaper.

Deputy chief prosecutor Yvonne Rudinsson said that material found on the man's and girl's computers and cell phones proves that the two had a brief love affair that began around Midsummer in 2010.

Johanna, who had dreams of becoming a model, and the man, who presented himself as a photographer, made contact via the internet.

The contents of the man's computer also provided evidence that he had had contact with a large number of women and that in several cases, he had pretended to represent a fashion company and wanted to take pictures.

The relative of the 37-year-old alerted authorities about the killing at around the time they heard from the Johanna's mother, who couldn't reach her daughter after she had gone to meet the man she thought was a representative of a fashion company.

She contacted police after receiving a call from the suspect, who he claimed he had killed a girl, according to Aftonbladet.

Johanna was found dead in a wooded area outside Lindshammar in southeastern Sweden after a major police operation.

Investigators concluded she was strangled to death in the 37-year-old's apartment and that her body was then dumped in the woods.

The man maintained that Johanna's death was accidental and occurred in connection with a sex act that went too far.

Loeffel explained that the man had also been charged with disturbing the peace of the dead because he drove Johanna's dead body to the woods before disposing of it.

The suspicion of child rape involves a girl who was a minor when the man is alleged to have had intercourse with her in Svenljunga in 2007. The information emerged during the the publicity following the murder of Johanna.

The 37-year-old has undergone a so-called Section 7 examination, or a "short examination conducted by a forensic psychiatrist."

The psychiatrist indicated that there was no reason to suspect that the man suffers from a serious mental disorder.

Never respond to anybody that contacts you through the internet. In most cases, it ends REALLY bad. I am a living exampel. Psycopaths, pedophiles, serial murderers, sadist............

"disturbing the peace of the dead"? That's a new one on me. I guess those guys in "Weekend At Bernie's" were guilty of this crime in a big way!

So if he gets away with that excuse, then every murderer can clain it was an accident that went too far. An argument that went to far, a fight that went too far, "I was just trying to scare him because the light had changed and he was still in the crosswalk but my car went too far!"

This defence is going a little too far. Lock this guy away for a long time and maybe he might accidently be killed with a sex act that went too far in prison.

O tempora,o mores...

Easy money,easy publicity,easy lifestyle...

I guess it's every little girl's dream to become a model

But sometimes it ends like that

Again, Swedish justice will show its true colour. 14 months for murdering the poor girl and 3 months for tampering with evidence. No prison term for raping the other victim.
14:31 February 14, 2011 by Swedesmith
What a fine example of humankind.
15:01 February 14, 2011 by Jes
You are so right @ Rishonim !

This killer will be placed in a 5-star " prison" fully equiped with a 50" plasma TV , a gymnand five meals a day .Why ? because Sweden does not have murderers or rapists but good people who just happen to be temporarily sick in the head.
15:43 February 14, 2011 by calebian22
17 is not a girl in Sweden, however it is much more sensational to have a murderded girl rather than a murdered adult. A scumbag none the less though.
16:43 February 14, 2011 by ironman294
a 17 yr old is not a girl in most of europe and the rest of the world except the US. Since the world is full of perverts and says age of consent is 14 in some and 15 and up in the rest.

18 should be the general age.

As long as they have the teen in their age they are a young girl.

Sweden will give him 6 months at most and couonseling and then for his suffering a cruise to Thailand. Also the government might make the family of the 17 year old girl pay him 30,000 Kroner for his suffering.
17:07 February 14, 2011 by RitaPita
"The psychiatrist indicated that there was no reason to suspect that the man suffers from a serious mental disorder."?? -- The man was posing as a photographer to take advantage of young girls over the net! Are you kidding me?? How does this not alarm any of those so called psychiatrists?

Typical swedish medical education - they're good at checking the symptoms list to provide a common diagnosis, but the moment that something isn't common, they all refrain from furthering their research and end it there.

@ironman294

Spot on! I'm guessing you have either held public office in Sweden or know of some officers who do... ;)

@ AmFly "Never respond to anybody that contacts you through the internet. In most cases, it ends REALLY bad. I am a living exampel. Psycopaths, pedophiles, serial murderers, sadist..... "

I can appreciate your comment fully, but as an retired IT tutor, I believe that stock statement is perhaps a little unrealistic. However, I would strongly suggest that before you consider any p2p encounters with anyone met on the web, that you should indeed be extremely cautious.

1 - Make a thorough search on the internet regarding the character in question, for further information

2 - Inform someone responsible that you are considering an off-web encounter with this person with sufficient details for any necessary follow up at a later date

3 - If practicable, have someone accompany you; even if they monitor you from afar, until given an 'all clear'.

Personally, I met my partner on an online art-forum, whilst we've now been together IRL (in real life) for over 4 years. We also have a b'ful baby daughter. Not ALL encounters are to be avoided. Just be sensible and cautious, if you feel you must do so.

not long ago age of consent in dear dumbf**k land was 12 i seem to recall.pot&kettle!! support your whores

This guy is a scumbag. If a 37 yr old douche was messing around with my teenage daughter I'd personally cut his dick off - with my tomahawk.
00:18 February 15, 2011 by Authentica
Omg, must there be a story like this every week? Why are there so many people "with serious mental disorders" who are not locked up permanently? This man should be put behind bars for the rest of his life, don't even bother to try him in court!

It works for Assange.

@sarahpalin

Unofrtunately having visited Sweden 5 times, and having many swedish friends and reading enough stories here on The Local, that outcome is not far fro the truth.

I remember the story of the 35 year old man who had sex with a 14 yr old. Was arrested for rape and had his name publicly listed. He said the girl lied and said she was 15, He sued the police for displaying his name after he had the charge removed and won money from the police.

In the states it doesnt matter if the girl lied about her age, if she was underaged, you still go to jail. I know in Sweden 15 is age of consent but 15 is a child. 15 is only the 10th grade. Sick.

In teh states age of consent depends on the state. but if the age is 16, the other partner can be no more than 3 years older to prevent older perverts to crossing state lines. Also if the age of consent is 16 in one state and 18 in yours, you cannot cross state lines.

I had always wanted to be bilingual, so in 1998 I began taking swedish classes at the American Swedish Institute (Minneapolis). I have kept up with my studies and consider myself to be at an advanced level in all areas of the swedish language. ASI is a fine institute and I have enjoyed the company of many fine members. Of course in the begining I very much desired to vist Sweden, but not anymore. I am proud of my swedish language skills but, I do wish I had chosen a different language.

@Smiling Canuk #13- I salute your sentiments, but in this age of Heptitis and AIDS suggest you replace that Tomahawk with a Groin Shot from a Colt 1911 in .45 Cal.. It is clean, efficient and painful enough to keep your miscreant rolling on the floor contemplating the virtues of decent living for an appropriate amount of time, if he does not chose to go to his maker immediately. Designed to stop a Muslim Morro Warrior, with pre-inslalled turniquettes and a large Chris Sword (the Suicide Bomber of his day), the appropriatly large bullet never fails to impress the socially demented or just plain stupid criminal element. Beside, you don't want to be covered in blood when the police take your picture. If you are not allowed to own a quality firearm to defend your family a Tomahawk is probably the best substitute, that or a really large Bowie Knife. Good Luck and keep that family safe! There is no higher calling than being a protective Father.
21:22 February 15, 2011 by buschmann
I don't know the ethnicity of the killer but, I assume he is not etnic swede. I assume this because swedish media never reveals the name or photo of non-white offenders. I guess the media/goverment wants it's young swedish folk to assume most offenders are white or swedish men? Does this not make the media/goverment an accesary to these crimes?
03:05 February 16, 2011 by Investor612
Ironman 294,

A 17 year old is not a girl in most of the US either. The age of consent (for sex) varies state by state, but 16 is the age of consent in 30 of the 50 states.
10:18 February 16, 2011 by MAXTYFUL
And even as Sweden refuses to retain GOD in their knowledge, GOD has given them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. The community has accepted evil so evil will take over.everyone who does evil is term ´mental disorder´ . open your eyes o sweden and beware.GOD BLESS SWEDEN
10:39 February 16, 2011 by Elvine
buschmann, there are always people like you, who don't think guys with names like "Niklas Lindgren", "Anders Eklund" or "Niklas Eliasson" could rape and kill. In your mind, it could only be a foreigner.

But you'e wrong this time too. The name "Andreas Johansson" sounds pretty Swedish to me, he's white, looks like the guy next door. And he wears a cross, so he's probably a christian. No, not a "scary, black muslim from Somalia or Irak" this time. You and your friends in SD are really disappointed now, aren¨t you? It's a guy like you, not one like "them".
11:52 February 16, 2011 by seagull
@MAXTYFUL

Seems to me looking around the globe that those lands who do dote on one or more of the thousands of "gods" man has dreamed up have far more evil going on than Sweden.

Anyway.

This guy is a scumbag. He may be mentally sick. For me, crimes of rape and pedophilia should all carry a mandatory castration. After that there is probably little need for an extended prison stay. It would be cheap, effective and right.
12:13 February 16, 2011 by Jes
Rape and aggravated sex is becoming one of the most common crimes in Sweden . Something has got to be done before the whole thing gets out of controll .

Since Sweden seems to think that rapists who murder are "mentaly sick" people , why not help them by castrating them ?

Study after study show that a rapist of this 37-year old calibre will rape and kill again as soon as he gets the opportunity to .

Plus : what`s the point of protecting this thugs identity by calling him "37 year old " ? Does he not have a name and a face ?

Simply by stalking this girl and then ending her life , he is no longer an innocent human-being with the same rights as the rest of us who have never killed even a rat.

SWEDEN NEEDS TO TOUGHEN UP !!!!!!!
18:44 February 16, 2011 by buschmann
Hej Elvinne, Just publish the names and photos of accused and convicted criminals and let people decide for themselfs. Sounds to me like you are afraid of something?
21:40 February 16, 2011 by Elvine
As I told you already, the name of the guy and his picture IS publiced; http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/article8568633.ab I think it's ridiculous to say "I assume he is not etnic swede", instead of checking the facts, and when his name is JOHANSSON and he looks like an ordinary swede.
21:53 February 16, 2011 by buschmann
I understand what you said. What I say is publish the names and photos of all accused and convicted criminals, not just the white ones.
00:05 February 17, 2011 by Sithaigh
This is disturbing, seems like this freak is trying to find a way out.

Do we really want these people in society?

I would love to see the death penalty for cases like this.

GUILTY is written all over this case,

He is a murderer, abuser, rapist, disgusting
