Sweden gives green light to Egypt travel

Sweden's foreign ministry lifted its advisory against travel to tourist resorts on Egypt's Red Sea coast late on Monday.

However, the ministry continues to discourage Swedes from embarking on non-essential travel to other parts of the country.

Separately, Swedish tour operators have no plans to resume cancelled departures before the end of April as announced earlier this month.

"We advise against non-essential travel to Egypt except to tourist resorts. In those areas, we see that order has been restored," Joakim Larsson of the ministry's press office told news agency TT late on Monday.

The ministry defines "non-essential travel" as tourism and visiting friends. The previous warning advising against "all travel" also included business travel.

"We are always conducting an ongoing evaluation of the security situation. When we judge that there is permanent order, we will conduct a reassessment," said Larsson.

Swedish tour operators contacted by TT reiterated that they have no plans to resume interrupted trips. Apollo had previously cancelled all trips to Egypt until the end of April.

"The ministry does not change anything for us at the present time. We could possibly arrange a few trips a little earlier in April, but no decision has been made," said communications director Kajsa Moström.

Detur has cancelled all trips for the season following the earlier advice from the ministry. There is no indication that they will resume departures anytime soon.

"We have just refunded all the money to customers. It is not as easy as just taking a flight there and back," said Viveca Bjorkman, marketing manager at Detur.

Earlier, Solresor had also decided to cancel trips for the season and will probably not start up again immediately following the decision.

"There are still advisories against Cairo and Luxor and they are a big part of the journey," said communications director Pauline Berndtsson.

Fritidsresor will resume trips during the summer season starting at Easter. Ving will continue with its previous plans and resumes flights to Egypt on May 2nd.

The Swedish embassy in Cairo encourages Swedish citizens still in the country to register their presence by email or telephone.

Somehow I think that the traffic will be coming in the other direction very soon.

Sorry for the temporary shutdown, historical maintenance was necessary.

Mission completed successfully.

Welcome back to a better EGYPT :)

Spot on Ravioli. US will be blamed for all the horrors that military and muslim brothers will introduce Egypt to and Sweden will start making a fresh new collection of 100k egyptians. Then Sweden will be blamed of racism. Then Swedes will be told that they had the bombings coming. The usual recipe.

Uncle,

it seems you know nothing about Egypt, military and muslim brothers.

Please read more instead of copy-past comments.

Mmm.

I would love msaad to enlighten me with the democratic qualities of the Muslim Brothers (with the motto "Islam is the solution" and spin-offs like the Hamas), as well as the liberal ability of the Egyptian military.

Go ahead, msaad, show the lost sheep it's way to the truth!

It goes with out saying, but it's more like...

"Sweden gives Green Light to Jump off a Cliff."

Uncle,

Firstly, Sorry for the strong language I used earlier !

Secondly, if you had a close insight to the events happened in Egypt you will soon realize that Egyptians were and will never think about leaving their country whatever is there.

Egyptian Military is a very respected organization inside and outside Egypt as well along history.

Muslim brothers, this is a long story. Briefly, 90% of their reputation outside Egypt is not correct.

Better egypy huh? That's why Lara Logan of CBS was beaten up severely and brutally raped.

@ mssad

"if you had a close insight to the events happened in Egypt you will soon realize that Egyptians were and will never think about leaving their country whatever is there."

Wrong. Whichever group gets into power, the Shiites or Sunnis, will try to kill off the opposite group and those are the ones who will seek aslyumn in Sweden.

@ Uncle

Yes, the sheep here will blame the US, as they always do. I could say that the reason there's so many illegal Mexican immigrants in the US is because Sweden limits the number of aslumn seekers each year so these illegals have to stay in America. I could blame Sweden for a lot of things but I won't lower myself to that level of stupidity.

@msaad

Your peacful brothers of dogs have just assualted and raped a woman who happens to be a CBS news reporter.

So, the worlds views on that sh_thole of muslim brotherhood has once again validated what type of animals Your brothers really are.

You need to go back there to support those insurgents, it will be good for both Sverige and The Human Race.

And don't come back, there is no place for terrorist in the western world.

@ loudasthunder

This is not a way for constructive discussion.

No further comment but each one of us shouldn't build our knowledge and judgment through media only.
12:00 February 16, 2011 by Uncle
msaad you are correct. We should build our knowledge of the media closely and personally. This is what celebrating, higher morals muslims were trying to do when they mass raped the journalist.

Probably here media exaggerates as well! She was probably only beaten slightly and raped only 7 times and the media is all exploding and being unfair!

We definitely should filter all this info. Better not listen to it at all.

msaad, perhaps you are a good person and all, but as you noticed, it is extremely hard to argue for muslims, since it happens that almost every day some muslim "extremists" make your argument more and more difficult.

@masaad

I speak from first hand experience fool. During My first year here in Sweden, My life was threatened by a Muslim when He told Me He was going to kill Me. One day He slashed all 4 tires on My car! A few months later when We were moving away, He threw His cell phone at Me. All this because He knew I was an expat from the US.

I did not respond, as I was waiting to get My citizenship and would not place My self in jeopardy. If one breaks the law, whilst in permanent residency status, it can be revoked and they will be sent back where they came from.

Now, I'm proud to be a citizen of Sweden. But heaven help the next Muslim, or any other person that should threaten to kill Me, as they'd better drop Me on the spot, I can and will defend Myself, as per Swedish law.

I have every right to voice My opinions on immigration, or any other unwelcome violent cultures coming into Sweden, this is My Country, and I will defend it's honor.

masaad, enjoy your short stay in Sverige : )

Egypt is just as crazy as any other Muslim country...

Pew Research, a very respected source, did a poll over there and 84% of Eqyptians believe in the death penalty for people who leave the Muslim faith. 82% believe in stoning adulterers.

These are the freedom loving "revolutionaries" everyone is cheering on.

Expect total disaster there in the next 5 years.

As a general rule I don't vacation in countries where the people are so out of control that the government has to bring in tanks.

Any sensible person will hold off on going to Egypt for now.

Here is a link to the recent 60 Minutes interview with Lara Logan describing her terrible expereince at the hands of the Muslim mob of rapists:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/04/28/...ain;contentBody

"That night, her attackers faded away in the crowd. It's not likely anyone involved will be brought to justice. We may never know with certainty whether the regime was targeting a reporter or whether it was simply - and savagely - a criminal mob. It is true, in Egypt in particular, that sexual harassment and violence are common.

Logan: I had no idea how endemic that it is so rife, so widespread, that so many Egyptian men admit to sexual harassing women and think it's completely acceptable. In fact, blame the women for it."

So here's a "great" idea: why not bring hordes and hordes of people like that, people just like those that raped the hell out of Lara Logan and think like that about women (Muslims), into Sweden! Yeah! What a great idea! Bring 'em in by the thousands!
