130 people say they killed Olof Palme: police

Published: 21 Feb 11 14:49 CET | Print version
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/32176/20110221/

With the 25th anniversary of the assassination of former Swedish prime minister Olof Palme a week away, Swedish police revealed on Monday that 130 people have confessed to the killing.

Media interest in the still-unsolved murder has reached record levels as the 25th anniversary of the assassination approaches.

While 130 people have confessed to the murder, all have been disregarded as suspects and police continue to look into the killing, which took place on February 28th, 1986.

So far, the preliminary investigation of the Palme murder takes up 225 metres of shelf space and counting.

While in principle the preliminary inquiry can continue indefinitely following the removal of the statute of limitation on the case, Kerstin Skarp, the sixth person to lead the inquiry, gave no indication that the crime would be solved anytime soon.

"When there is absolutely nothing to work with and we have reached a dead end, then it shall be closed. But we are not there yet," she said at a Monday press conference organised by Sweden's National Bureau of Investigation (Rikskriminalen).

She added that the current search is not focussed on any particular person.

Stig Edqvist, head of the Palme Group and the fourth leader of the investigation, admitted that it is frustrating that there is still no suspect in the killing after 25 years.

"It obviously is tough to deal with from time to time," he said.

Two to three new tips are submitted every day, Edqvist added. A large portion of them are ruled out as they relate to tips that have been previously investigated.

"However, if someone comes in with information about a named person or a weapon, we are obviously interested in it," said Edqvist, who believes that a number of new tips would come in after Monday's press conference.

The preliminary investigation was estimated to have cost half a billion kronor ($77.97 million) five years ago.

Nevertheless, investigators are still hoping to find the killer.

"We can say in all honesty that we do not have a hot lead that we are following right now, nor however, is there anything else that indicates the opposite," said Skarp.

Palme was walking home from a cinema with his wife Lisbet in central Stockholm on Sveavägen close to midnight on February 28th, 1986 when he was fatally shot in the back at close range. A second shot wounded his wife, who later recovered.

Palme was rushed to hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival at 1.06am local time the next day.

He served as Sweden's prime minister on two separate occasions, from 1969 to 1976 and 1982 to 1986.

I think it was the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. It's the type of thing they do professionally. They have it down to a science.

Look guy, one of the foreigners at SFI reconized me as being CIA. I can emphatically deny we had any involvement in it. now that you know, don't blow my cover.

Even Sunde from ThePirateBay confessed to it... (google it)

At first glance of the headlines, I thought the 130 meant the witnesses on the street that "didn't see a thing", which is sooooo Swedish : )

But, I guess You really can't blame 'em for not wanting to get involved...

If I confess to this crime, maybe the swedish goverment will extradite me to sweden. After I have been excluded as a suspect , perhaps I can get a resident permit and a big fat welfare check.

"don't blow my cover."

Why are you worry, Don't all CIA agents have "Diplomatic Immunity", like you can murder two citizen of host state using illegal weapon with prohibited bullets then come out from your car and pump one bullet each to victims from front so you can say that they were attackers, and then call to your embassy so they can send more agents to help you run away and cause another death by running over a pedestrian, but when you failed to run away and get caught you can say you are a Diplomat and you have Diplomatic Immunity even though you own country never give D/I to any Diplomat even in case of traffic accidents and no diplomat carry Knives, Large amount of Money, Gloves, Night vision, Weapons and other spy gadgets.

or its happens only in Pakistan..

Dude! You've been watching too many Bruce Willis and Sly Stallone movies. We (the CIA) are much more sneaky than that. Those "victims" you're talking about are the scum that weren't good enough to graduate to become Somili pirates so they had to return to their homeland and go back to being petty theives.

And I think you have some details wrong. You need to stop believing the lies of your own people and search for the truth. But you won't, you don't want to find of face the truth. Trash is trash, no matter what country you're from. I really feel sorry for the pedestrian's family but the rest of the trash needed to be taken out.

The Swedish government knows at least since 1987 already who really killed Olaf Palme. This is stated by World Director of Reserve Police International Dr. Slobodan Mitric in his response below to a question from a professor (Adolf) in Sweden. Mitric, a former top counter secret agent for UDBA, who defected to the West in 1973, is the author of the book "The Golden Tip - The Entanglement of the Upper and Underworld and the Murder of Gerrit Jan Heijn" … "Dear Adolf, The Swedish state knows who killed Palme. I own a revolver with which Palme was killed. (The revolver is buried in a park in The Hague) In my novel THE GOLDEN TIP you can read more…."

"The late prime minister of the Kingdom of Sweden had pledged to fight the drug dealers with all the means at his disposal. He had introduced a new law according to which all drug addicts would be forced to follow a rehabilitation program. In a reaction, the international mafia then reached a verdict: KILL ANYONE WHO DARES THREATEN OUR INTERESTS!"

"he took the revolver back to Northern Ireland"

WoW! Thanks for clearing that up. all these nut-case conspiracy theorists who want to blame the US say that the revolver was brought over here on a ship from America. Now how stupid is that?

I don't know who killed Palme but that person should have a medal. I hated that s.o.b!!!!!!

@U Scitizen

"We (the CIA) are much more sneaky than that."

Your "Diplomat" is identified as "CIA Station Chief" By N.Y.T, W.P and Guardian (also by US Govt) now I really get the idea how much sneaky you people can be.

"Those "victims" you're talking about are the scum that weren't good enough to graduate to become Somili pirates so they had to return to their homeland and go back to being petty theives."

I am agree with many Analysts who are saying that the victims are member of Pakistan's Security agencies probably ISI on surveillance, that is why the stinky ass of your "diplomat" is in jail now because no one give a s--t about ordinary civilian in pakistan neither army nor govt. (bitter truth).... but even though they were thieves, it is not punishable by death.

"And I think you have some details wrong. You need to stop believing the lies of your own people and search for the truth."

What I wrote was based on Forensic Report, Criminal Charges filed in court by Police, Credible news and other raw information processed by my brain neither you nor me was on the crime seen so we have to believe that what professional are saying. and let me know which part do you think is wrong.

Luckily I have a good alibi. Otherwise I would probably have been a prime suspect. I also do not condone this type of political action. But I absolutely detested this communist, lying, rat. Palme has to be the absolutely, without comparison, the worst thing that was ever inflicted upon Swedish society. To many of us he represented a threat that had to be stopped! - I repeat, I do not condone violence. - If this intense dictatorial vermin had been allowed to continue, Sweden would have been a mirror image of Walter Ulbrichts prolaterian paradise, only worse. I predict his name will surface in the recently opened Stasi files. It is well known that he was chummy with Ernst, Walter and Erich, and that he idolized these socialist cock roaches as something to be strived for. Full control of the populace. An obedient flock of sheep answering to the Kampfgruppen der Arbeiterklasse. Although shameful that it didn't happen with democratic means, Swedes should be thankful that he was taken off the count.

What a lot of ignorance has been written in these comments here on the former Prime Minister Olof Palmé.

It is a fact that EVERYBODY is loved and hated almost in equal measure.

Olof Palmé helped me on an important issue for which I will be eternally grateful. He was a good person and NO person deserves to die in such a manner.

Investigations should be concentrated on the former SÄPO Chief at the time, Åke Hjälmroth, and the SÄPO Operations Chief at the time, PG Näss and the SÄPO guard that was assigned to Palmé's security the night of the assassination. This SÄPO guard was relieved of his duty that night by Olof Palmé as Mr. Palmé wanted to be out for the evening with his wife - hence the fact that he did not have a SÄPO guard following him that evening.

The intelligence and methods used by the Swedish Police in this investigation has been an utter disgrace and shows how totally inept they are at such an investigation.

Nine days after the assassination I personally wrote to the then Prime Minister, Ingvar Carlsson with copies of my letter to the then Justice Minister, Stig something or other from memory, and to Hans Holmér the Senior Police Investigating Officer informing them how they should investigate this assassination. The Swedish Police had already refused assistance from Britain's Scotland Yard, the American FBI and the then Russian KGB and the French and German Security Services on the pretense that they (Swedish Police) have all the necessary expertise to solve this case.

Some expertise and 25 years later all they could come up with is prosecuting the WRONG person who was later freed on appeal.

After I wrote my letter to the PM and JM and the Police Officer leading the investigation I received a visit from the police who questioned me about the murder of Olof Palmé. The police, who were probably just out of puberty, asked me where I was that particular evening.

I told them that I was in Sveavägen that night but they should be more interested where I was at the TIME of the murder to which I told them that I was at home. Afterall on a Friday evening there would have been several thousand people in Sveavägen on that particular evening.

I offered the police to arrest me and take me in for further questioning. They refused and said that they believed what I told them. How the hell could ANY responsible law enforcement official make such a stupid statement without checking up what he was told. THAT proved to me with investigators like THAT no person would EVER be brought to justice for this assassination becasue the Swedish Police just wasted time, tax payer's money and effort in questioning the WRONG person(s).

Well 25 years have certainly proved me right and I can safely state that they will never solve this case in 125 years.
23:47 February 25, 2011 by wishUlistenup
Why is Palme anything to "remember"? He was a communistic creep that wanted to tax everyone for anything they did.

Why is the press bringing up this goofy story over and over? Someone knows the truth and they will never print it anyway!

The main stream press and media believe it was a setup, making it look like (or was it?) a brainwashed Scientologist that pulled the trigger. By the way the L. Ron Hubbard, "Dianetik" cult is dying and fading away internationally very fast!

The 130 people that confess obviously wanted him dead and claimed the fame to have the pride in having done it! LOL

The answer is - the press is trying to confuse you to cover up the criminal government conspiracies that are actually going on in the big picture.

You'd be much better informed and understand better if you watched these movies;

Dear friends,

Research for a paper on THE OTHER 9/11 - OPERACION CONDOR, KISSINGER AND PINOCHET (which paper is on the assassination of the Republic of Chile on 11 September 1973) had led me to some circumstantial evidence which points to the instigators of the assassination of Olof Palme as being organised in Condor, with an unmentioned executioner.

As you will certainly know, Condor was an international criminal organisation set up by the dictators of the countries of the Southern Cone of Latin America with the support of the American Admistration of the time: Nixon + Kissinger.

For what it is worth, I would like to add my spirit of condolence for your loss, of sympathy for your country, and warmest greetings to all.

With best regards,

In ch.41 of the true crime novel "The Golden Tip" (2008) by Slobodan Mitric, a former secret agent for Yugoslavia in Sweden, the suspected and released 'drug addict' Christer Pettersson figures as the boss of IB and as a co-financer of a MI6 casino in Stockholm. On the motive for the murder: The Law on Treatment of Abusers (LVM) was part of the Swedish ideal of a drugs free society (Sigurdsen): a 'house clean of drugs' as Olof Palme called it.
