Swedish man paid salary of two kronor

When salesman Rickard Dunker opened his payslip he got something of a shock. For one month's work he had been paid a total of three kronor. After tax had been deducted, his monthly income was reduced to a grand total of two kronor.

Dunker's job as a salesman for Easycare, selling First Aid products, had begun well. He threw himself into the job and travelled around Dalarna, northern Sweden, in his own car, visiting potential customers.

During the month he clocked up over 3000 kilometres (1850 miles) and paid out over 10000 kronor ($1555) in petrol. He claims he sold over 20,000 kronor's worth of products for the company. For all this work, he was rewarded with a paltry two kronor, after tax.

"I couldn't imagine that such a thing was possible," he told a reporter at the newspaper Dala-Demokraten.

According to his ex-employers, he travelled too far and made too few sales. Something which they claim is quite clear in his contract. Lars Andersson, head of Easycare in Borlänge thinks he is a bad salesman.

"It's a tough branch. If he thinks he's been cheated we should take it up in court. There's nothing wrong with the contract which he agreed to and signed." Andersson told a reporter at Dala-Demokraten

Dunker is no longer working for the company and wants to warn others to go through their contracts with a fine toothcomb.

He has not commented as to what he plans to spend his two kronor wages on.

The headline says 2 kronor and then it says 3 kronor in the piece.

Now how much was it really. I mean there is a 50% difference, could mean a lot to the guy
11:42 February 26, 2011 by Wertyx
Rick, they actually they gave the correct Numbers: "he had been paid a total of three kronor. After tax had been deducted, his monthly income was reduced to a grand total of two kronor"

3 sek before taxes - 33% taxes = 2 sek after taxes.

The whole story is weird. The guys should have been able to calculate how much he will earn on commissions, and when you see he spent half of his sales in petrol, you can't expect much profit.

This is the future for Ssweden, this was only a test case.
12:08 February 26, 2011 by Brtahan
Hahaha poor guy , this is the future of capitalism , people gets exploited running after the carrot inhope of being rich one day or becoming a business man or just earning enough to survive.
13:36 February 26, 2011 by miss79
@brtahan agrreeeedddd..the capitalism system
14:23 February 26, 2011 by Smartone
There is a law for commissioned base job that one will get a specific fixed salary then commission will be added depending on how much he or she sales?

I wonder the fixed salary can be as low as 2 kronor. It's a scam to use marketing skills and time plus money to employees.

I would suggest the employee(Rickard Dunker) should hire employer for 10kronor.....see you pay better than u get :D LOL
14:38 February 26, 2011 by uunbeliever
But that is a Canadian nickel, worth about 0.32 :-
14:51 February 26, 2011 by Swedesmith
He gets TWO kronor? Lucky b-stard.
16:05 February 26, 2011 by matona1
lol i think he can manage it ,it is just 30 daysin a month,1 krona for 15 days is ok,nice development
17:44 February 26, 2011 by kaze
I bet the contract is legally tight sadly, still very very wrong.
22:11 February 26, 2011 by kenny8076
miss79 and Brtahan i not trying to be rude but are you 2 educated? or just horrible trolls? a simple "sales" job is not a sign of capitalism or some other scheme you think is going on. Im not sure where you are from or what experience or education you have in economics but you are far from it when saying that a guy driving around Northern Sweden selling first aid products is a sign of capitalistic take over....... It is a contract dispute, which the company seems to believe was upheld seeing is how THEY are throwing around the "court" suggestion. Company's don't want to go to court unless they KNOW they are right.
23:42 February 26, 2011 by Swedesmith
But Kenny, you know that working for a living is a capitalist scheme. Honest, hard labor...how demeaning. We are all supposed to exist on welfare from the state.

Face it, 20,000 kronor of sales in a month is pretty poor. That is three laptops at El Giganten. If his commission was set at 7,79% of that, he would be entitled to 1558 kronor. Take out the petrol he charged to the company (1555) and he is left with 3 kronor. Or perhaps his contract stipulated a fixed base salary of 1558 kronor and commissions were to be paid on all revenues over a minimum level that he did not reach, for example 25000 kronor.

Before passing judgment on the man or the company, I would need to know what exactly the company asked him to sell, at what price, to whom, and how much revenue a successful salesman for the company generates.

20,000 kronor of sales by travelling over 3000 kilometres and paid out over 10000 kronor in petrol ? Can you imagine how much profit this guy can make for the company after he claim back his petrol usage...
08:36 February 27, 2011 by 160kph
I'm also wondering what kind of car he was driving to get such bad fuel economy. If he spent 10000kr as he says on petrol and drove 3000km that means he's using 25.6 l/m or 11 m/g. Either he's exaggerating somewhat or he's driving around Dalarna in a Bugatti Veyron.

Reply to kenny and Smith: your sarcasm is not really funny for many people!!! Sweden is adopting a capitalist system and getting influenced by USA , like the govt wants to sell hospitals ,drug stores etc letting people getting fooled from private companies to work for nothing and on the other hand the people who are in need have to pay lots of money to go to the hospitals or to buy medicins because its becoming a profit to the private sector or its called (capitalism) peoples life will be like stocks and money will be first, people will face lots of poverty . the rich wil get richer and will abuse this to his benefits of inslaving the poor to work for 2 kr for eq!!! even if some people are taking welfares from the state , there are reasons they might be sick , mentally or physically or just cannt find a job for now , should all this people be living on the streets for ur pleasure Smith! Money is not important the people are! Even if i am educated or not atleast i have common sense of the future!!! and whats right and whats wrong.

Not to be the deliver of bad news, Brtahan, but once you become an adult the only person responsible for your care and feeding is YOU. Not the state, not the church and not your mommy. If by the grace of God you have more than you need, by all means share with the poor. From those whom have much, much is expected. The lame, the blind, the mentally challenged need and deserve a little help. But if your sole reason for not wanting to work is because it interferes with your bomb making activities, sorry Charlie, get a job.

"But if your sole reason for not wanting to work is because it interferes with your bomb making activities, sorry Charlie, get a job"

Maybe that is a job
18:14 February 27, 2011 by deaninsweden
I feel for the guy I really do. Even if the contract was correct there should have been an element of realism when, just before the payroll was confirmed, that this was going to be the outcome.

I hope that the guy finds a new job that is not sales related and does gurantee a regular income. As for EasyCare, I fear that having your name on several websites exposing this is not going to be the best outcome for them.

"The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens" ,

TO Smith:If a person argues with an educated person he wins the arguement and if argues with an illiterate he looses.

Because he can prove his points to the educated one but an illiterate is 1000 times tougher for him to understand so he cannot get the point no matter what. So which one are you?
13:00 February 28, 2011 by kenny8076
Thank you Swedesmith for educating BRtahan. It still blows my mind that people are so reliant on welfare and handouts. Yes there are the handicapped that need help. But the rest do not.

an example is my girlfriends brother who just started attending university and receives 2,700SEK a month from CSN that is not required to be paid back. He lives at home with parents and has NO intentions of looking for a job in the near future. 2,700SEK a month is enough for a monthly bus card and food/beer. At the tax payers mercy of coarse. And he is not the only one. In fact every college student i have met here so far is involved in this scam. and it IS a scam. People are taught from birth to use these systems and never question them.

For the record in the US i held a job like this man. For Lasership i was an independent contractor like him delivering packages. I too would get checks similar to this if i did not keep track of my mileage and gas. but i also wouldn't rive 100 miles for a package that paid $10. He should have calculated his voyage to pay differences better. Instead he makes a classic NOOB sales mistake and now wants the world to feel sorry for him.

I anxiuosly await for the article where the guy explains what he plans to do with his salary... I wonder if he would invest in something or just spend it in leisure... Exciting, uh?! I hope he chooses the right track!
