'Jihad Jane' ally admits to Vilks murder plot

A female comrade of the woman dubbed "Jihad Jane" pleaded guilty Tuesday in US federal court to terror-related charges, officials said.

Jamie Paulin Ramirez, a US citizen and former resident of Colorado sometimes referred to as "Jihad Jamie", pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, the Justice Department said.

The 32-year-old faces up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine at sentencing.

Officials alleged that Ramirez traveled with Colleen LaRose, who dubbed herself "Jihad Jane," to locations in Europe and elsewhere "to participate in and in support of violent jihad."

They were also said to have been involved in a plot to kill a Swedish cartoonist who made fun of the Prophet Muhammad.

LaRose, 47, pleaded guilty last month to related charges and could face life behind bars.

She was arrested in October 2009 for her role in a plot to kill Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, who unleashed a storm of protests from Muslims with his cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad seen as insulting to Islam.

LaRose sought to recruit men and women online, raise money and even agreed to carry out the murder of a Swedish resident, pledging "only death will stop me," the indictment charged.

" in a plot to kill a Swedish cartoonist who made fun of the Prophet Muhammad."

Cartoonists have been making fun of celebrities and scumbags for as long as anyone can remember. Muhammad was married to a 6 year old, making him a pedophile and cartoonists were just supposed to ignore that?

Actually yes, if they didn't want to upset the "religion of peace".

I'm glad one cartoonist decided freedom of speech is more important than "don't upset the crazies".

@SP: I think you'll find many of the mediaeval crowned heads of Europe were betrothed at a similar age.

@mikewhite

I am no fan of monarchy, but being betrothed and being married are two different things. Plus, you are not quite right about ages. While Muhammad might have been "married" to a six-year-old and consummated the relationship, betrothal of young girls to medieval European monarchs did not take place before the age of 12 according to Augustine law and consummation had to wait until marriage, which usually took place within two years after betrothal. Sex with children prior to marriage was strictly forbidden by the church, too, so it would be rare (and unforgivable) to have sex with kids under 12. Big difference.

"and consummated the relationship" - oh well, in Berlusconi's words, "at least he wasn't gay"
