Charges stemming from sexually suggestive text messages sent to a 15-year-old Swedish girl by a teacher-in-training will not likely stop him from receiving his teaching licence.

The text messages were sent toward the end of January while the future teacher was carrying out a traineeship at a middle school, the Metro newspaper reports.

In the messages, the 35-year-old teacher-in-training suggested that he and the 15-year-old girl shower naked together.

He also proposed that the girl come over and test out his bed.

The suggestive text messages were eventually reported to police, but the report only came to the attention of officials at Södertörn University in Stockholm after the man had received passing marks for the traineeship.

The 35-year-old has since been charged with sexual molestation, but even if he is convicted, he will still likely find himself licenced to teach in Swedish schools.

"As it looks now, he's going to get his teaching licence," the university's Lisa Öberg told the newspaper.

While the man has admitted to sending the messages, he claimed they were sent as a joke.

We live in a moral-less country where the system rewards rapist, murderers, paedophiles and teachers who prey on young girls/kids. It seems the only real crimes in Sweden are tax evasion and movie/music downloading.
14:43 March 14, 2011 by Swedesmith
Seems to be some very lax standards for teachers in Sweden. The good teachers are most undoubtably shocked and saddened by this.
14:49 March 14, 2011 by Looking in
Terrible. He would be on a list of paedophiles in Australia and would never be allowed to teach. Police checks are necessary for all who work with children in Australia. What protections do Swedish children have if this man and others like him are allowed to be put in a position of trust with children?
15:46 March 14, 2011 by Rishonim
Looking in, unfortunately in this sick country, a girl of 15 is considered legal; hence any scumbag whether 18 or 99 can have a field day with them.
15:59 March 14, 2011 by HeilNizar
Rishonim, I hope there will be more people like you in your country.

Reading such news about a country like Sweden makes normal people feel sick.
17:43 March 14, 2011 by zeero
As a parent don't contact the police or the authorities in Sweden, this society is not a compassionate or caring, fix the problem yourself...
18:09 March 14, 2011 by calebian22
Is the reason for the charges because it was trainee teacher taking advantage of a 15 year old under his tutelage? As stated earlier, 15 is technically legal in Sweden. However, legal or not (The merit/lack of merit of that age can be argued ad nauseum), the fact that a person with a sexual molestation conviction on their record can get a teaching license in Sweden is ridiculous.
18:52 March 14, 2011 by muscle
It is sick. But I was just wondering IF 15 is legal, though I am not sure where it is written, but if it is and the girl didn't report the matter herself (not mentioned in the news who reported the matter), and it appears that the guy had taken shower with her.... well in that case why is it a problem? Everything was done legally and with the victim's consent.

I understand it is sick, but still just wondering!
19:13 March 14, 2011 by GLO
Hey this is just wrong, no contest. Nuts!!!!
19:51 March 14, 2011 by Atlas
It's just plan simple WRONG...A teacher is someone who is supposed to give knowledge, someone who is supposed to be hold of high esteem, not someone who sends a pupil sexually themed messages...
19:52 March 14, 2011 by mikewhite
No question: professional person in position of trust, abusing that position - should be disqualified from that profession.
20:23 March 14, 2011 by diegoveggie
whats with showering guys?
20:49 March 14, 2011 by rugla
I´m ashamed of the legal system in my country sorry to say, it is nothing but flawed.

How about castrating this animal, as a joke!
21:40 March 14, 2011 by StockholmSam
I am not sure that this person will be able to teach even though he gets his license. That was not explicitly stated in the article. He may get his license and therefore credit for his studies, but let us hope that there will be an asterisk after his name and every school will be alerted to his actions. Of course, that is no guarantee that a school won't hire him, but that is another story.

Even if 15 is "legal" in Sweden, it is illegal for a teacher to have sex with a student of any age due to the superior-subordinate relationship involved. Not sure if violating that law results in revocation of a teacher's license or not, but apparently not if the above case is typical.
23:06 March 14, 2011 by mojofat
@zeero

Exactly. If I was this girl's father I would find this guy and beat him black and blue, and then give him a shower of my own. What a pervert...and to think they're going to go ahead allow this guy to teach.
00:08 March 15, 2011 by Patriot1742
Would someone please explain to me why you would want a 35 year having made this sleeazy attack on a 15 year to get a teacher's license - he should be picked up by the police because he will not stop - he will keep going after 15 year olds - then someone will have to deal with this.
06:13 March 15, 2011 by Da Goat
It is no problem at all it was only text messages there is nothing recorded as happening (molestation is a wee bit strong maybe being an idiot is more appropriate) plus he has outed himself now he will be watched carefully and will never get the chance again .

just another sensational story to grab attention.

since when is a text message an attack? (text back U IDIOT and delete it or just delete it)
06:55 March 15, 2011 by StockholmSam
Da Goat, you are way wrong. This is part of grooming and if we wait until the guy actually does molest a student, then we would wonder why we did not see the signs earlier and done something about it. What would you think if your daughter was molested and you found out that a few years earlier the perp had been caught texting other teens but given his license anyway?
07:49 March 15, 2011 by babarizam
r u living in Afghanistan? you cant punish people just for sending text. Its not a criminal activity but moral one. Schools can make a policy to control molest but how long?
08:41 March 15, 2011 by tuerd1982
Just wait, maybe this animal soon receive government money for open a school like other animal did couple of months ago.
09:18 March 15, 2011 by wolverine2k
@#13

I agree with you. Lets castrate him and tell him it was a joke...
11:36 March 15, 2011 by Dano
As stated, the guy did nothing except punch letters into his phone. We live in an age where a 15 year old, much of the time,is more sexually aware than many 35 year olds.

We live in an age where the SMS is king.

We've all lived in an age where someone (or many) have a "teacher crush", and there are many cases of those crushes going physical.

I agree that teachers or would be teachers who give in to sexual feelings towards their students should lose the right to teach, but don't crucify a guy for a text message or two in reply to a girl who was probably very aware of what she was doing, and possibly sent from her bedroom with her friends egging her on!

3 sides to every story...his..hers...and the truth!
12:42 March 15, 2011 by krrodman
@barbarizam

Hmmm...... So no crime was committed because there was only an offer of sex, but no sex act......

So, if I were to put a gun to your head and threaten to kill you, but not pull the trigger, no criminal act has occurred?
22:14 March 15, 2011 by mikewhite
There was that guy in the UK who was done for sending by Twitter a threat to blow up an airport, when his flight was cancelled.
18:12 March 16, 2011 by jbat
still..... many more weird things happen in US compare to what hapeen here..
20:26 March 16, 2011 by wxman
Aw come on, pedophiles need jobs too! Why should he be deprived of a living teaching children just because his beliefs aren't the same as everybody elses? Where's your compassion?
09:42 March 17, 2011 by mieoux
jbat,

If he did this in the US he would be in jail. There is a long list of men and women in jail for this and involving 17 years olds, let alone 15 year olds.
11:46 March 17, 2011 by Leonardo A. Romero
Hi!

I like living in Sweden because there are many ways to avoid these kind of teachers who take advantages from their students. I mean, most of the students feel a deeply feeling of respect for their teachers and some of these students mix feelings of respect with feelings of being in love. That is why a teacher must avoid taking advantages of those students who do not can see the difference between these sort of things. Fortunately, the press can tell us who is who and that´s a perfect way to stop teachers like him.

Bureaucracies are bound to "processes" - written procedures that dictate in detail exactly how things are to be done. The problem lies in the fact the bureaucracies also attract unimaginative buffoons to perform these mindless tasks, which all but makes "common sense" extinct. There is no thought to the consequences of a bad decision resulting from a circumstance which was unforseen by the authors of the procedure, because there is simply no thought to the consequences, period.
