Man arrested after paying for noisy sex

Grunts heard through a wall were enough for police in southern Sweden to arrest a 46-year-old man on suspicion of buying sex.

When the man entered the home of the suspected prostitute, police on a stake out snuck up and listened through the wall.

The officers were treated to a symphony of grunts and moans, after which they concluded that the couple were engaging in sex acts.

The 46-year-old was arrested and on Tuesday he was convicted and fined for violating Sweden's laws prohibiting the purchase of sexual services, TV4 news reported.

The incident took place in September of last year when the 46-year-old made the trip from Växjö to Karlskrona in southern Sweden after responding to an internet announcement placed by the woman advertising massage services.

"I was having problems getting an erection and wanted to see if getting a little massage would help," the man said during questioning, the local Blekinge Läns Tidning (BLT) reported.

He told the arresting officers, who had received a previous tip about the woman's prostitution services, that he and the woman had only engaged in oral sex.

The 46-year-old added that, even though her "treatment" failed to cure his alleged potency problem, he agreed to pay the woman 1,000 kronor ($160) for her efforts.

Don't the polis have something better to do that catch punters as they come out of a knock shop?
10:05 April 20, 2011 by Luckystrike
So...it is legal to sell sexual services but illegal to buy them?

Whats the point exactly....Or, am i wrong?
10:11 April 20, 2011 by seagull
The point exactly is to not criminalise the women, whilst at the same time try to protect them.

I understand but disagree with it. It should be legalised and properly controlled with heavy penalties for women or men who go outside the system. In the end it is a profession that will never ever be stopped, so should be allowed in a very controlled manner... IMO

@seagul and lucky.

I agree the law is a complete ass.

If it criminalises men then surely it does likewise with the women who sell it..

As for the sad nosey cops with nothing better to do, the least said the better.

While police are busy ticketing someone for having some fun in bed, the criminals in Gothenburg will burn some more cars tonight.

Yes, let's waste tax dollars on staking out private homes instead of busting these hoodlums setting cars on fire. Great.

It's an easy and fun assignment for the police. Who can blame them, when the politicians have made it clear having sex with a prostitute is a major crime. Certainly far more important than trafficking, sex tourism and other such misdemeanours; which are far more difficult and boring to investigate.

No wonder you can never find a Swedish policeman. Half of them are camped out eating donuts, and listening to other people having sex, and the other half are in court explaining why they have assaulted another member of the public.

@RobinHood, Sorry mate, thats an incorrect stereotype, the swedish ones eats mosbricka all day long.

There is a demand for equal pay for equal job. there should also be a demand for equal punishment for commitment of a crime. I believe selling sex is equal to buying it. Strange to think that there is such a demand for such a thing considering Swedish women are whores or so the say in greece at least. I really think men should start a demonstration May First for equal rights buying/selling sex. I am surprised that women are not demanding this they demand equal rights for everything else.
11:57 April 20, 2011 by Swedesmith
Wouldn't the police have been surprised if the poor sap was just taking a dump.
12:02 April 20, 2011 by Nilspet
I really do agree with "johnny1939" 100.00% there should be equal punishment for both parties.

And I agree with all who said it is waste of tax money for polis to go after this kind of thing. Really! It is unbelievably wasteful !!!
12:21 April 20, 2011 by Eagle63
Absolutely ridiculous !

I respect Sweden for many many things but this is absurd;

Compare this to Belgium and Holland, where you can find beautiful girls behind the windows in the red light districts of many cities, where men can go to relax, and its totally legal, as it should be...

Sweden should wise up and allow every adult to express their "sexuality " even if it mean selling and paying for sex . The 46 man`s explanation that he had experienced erection snags is not exaclty a silly excuse . Some men discover their lost self-confidence when they indulge in sex which does not involve commitment ,

And it is a well known fact that lack of self-confidence among men contributes to alcoholism , impotence , failures of marriages and relationships etc etc.

It can be proved that husbands that use prostitutes when they are sexually frustrated at home , are less likely to have love affairs with other women . This simply means that prostitution helps to save marriages instead of destroying them .

It can also be proved that professional prostitutes are a good and effective substitute for psychology therapists , who actually charge more for the same things some prostitutes do for their clients .

The point is that if prostitution is allowed to be "demystified" one will see that it is not any different a right than homosexuality or smoking tobacco infront of ones small children .

Consider this : Anne , is free to have an operation that makes her a man . She is free to marry another woman . She can enlarage here breasts or cut them away . She is free to smoke in a car whith he small children . She is free to abort if she chooses to . But she is not free to live on her body if she chooses to ????????? !!!!!!

With all the problems in the world, and in Sweden, - wars, the economy, Sweden's immigration debale, moral decay, a torrential violent crime wave, etc., - why was this story deemed to be important enough to get such prominent exposure?
14:42 April 20, 2011 by jan.petras
Why don't they just legalize it... it's the oldest profession in the world, it can be taxed and controlled much better by legalizing it.
15:40 April 20, 2011 by LonelyLove
There's another country where the police would listen at your door and arrest you for having sex.

SAUDI ARABIA

Welcome to Sweden. Where you have no individual rights to privacy. where you may not indulge in consensual sex. where you waive your rights to whatever any individual rights you have had. Welcome to the modern day USSR....

I want to know where between voyeurism and entrapment this activity falls

surely when the case gets to court the poor sap/s in question can say entrapment and muddy the water somewhat!

staking out a place for this purpose is just plain freaky, almost as freaky as a pedo sitting outside a school yard!

would be embarrassing if he just had a massage and then had to hang a dump, he paid for a massage and had a free dump!
06:11 April 21, 2011 by calebian22
This man did not pay 1000 kronor for sex. He paid a 1000 kronor for the privilege to leave immediately after the sex. No talking, no cuddling, no muss no fuss. Prostitution will always be around precisely for this reason.
14:15 April 21, 2011 by dockmandock
What an INCREDIBLE waste of public resources.

This must have cost thousands and thousands in police, court and administration costs.

I don't find it at all amusing - it's a waste of resources.
14:37 April 21, 2011 by technoviking
The police here a joke. Go do some real police work and arrest some real criminals.

But that would involve having some balls, so...
05:55 April 22, 2011 by scorpion69
I want to put the cat amongst the pigeons with the following points that should be considered when some view the payment by a man to a woman for sex is sexual exploitation.

The situation in Sweden where male clients of female prostitutes can be prosecuted will drive prostitution underground and lead to blackmail, extortion and corruption.

What of the situation where a woman pays another woman for sex? Will she be prosecuted?

What of the situation where a husband and wife want a threesome and pay a woman to join them for 3 way sex?

I believe there should be strict licensing controls over prostitution both concerning the sex worker and the client.

Come on grow up you stupid feminsts who support laws that convict clients of sex workers.

Oh by the way I am an Australian heterosexual male.

Are there no privacy laws that would protect these people from such tactics? Who wants police listening through the wall to intimate moments between consenting adults? Criminalizing prostitution is a dumb idea in Sweden, America, Britain and a lot of other places. Put some standards in place. Regulate it and make it safer. Just like having safety standards for toys, fire resistant mattresses, health standards in restaurants and regulations in any other business. Why does government continually insist on sticking its nose into people's lives when no harm is being done? All for the few grumps who are lying awake knowing that someone else is having more fun than they are.
