Four men were shot in Gothenburg on Friday, two of which were gunned down, on a busy street in Hisingen, a northern locale of Gothenburg.

The 2pm shooting occurred on Lantmätaregatan, a street with several restaurants and cafes, and in front of many eye-witnesses who were out in the beautiful Easter weekend weather.

Both managed to stay alive, according to Ulf Edberg, spokesperson for the Gothenburg police.

“It is unclear how seriously injured the men are but all are living," he told the TT news agency.

“With some it was more urgent than with others."

The two targeted individuals were shot in the same place but police won’t say exactly how many shots were fired.

Three of the gunshot victims were taken to Sahlgrenska Hospital, while the fourth was taken to Östra Hospital.

The police remain very tight-lipped about the incident.

"We ourselves do not yet have a clear picture of what happened. And we have yet to hear from any witnesses so therefore I cannot reveal what we know. Witnesses can be influenced by what they hear from other places," Edberg said.

Shortly after 3pm police confirmed that a total of four people have been hospitalized, sustaining injuries related to the shooting.

"There are four people with various injuries," Edberg said through the police website.

The area has been cordoned off with a large number of police officers grooming the site in search of the offenders.

No arrests have been made.

A few days back, there were burning of tyres. Why the police is so slow in Sweden to take action. I understand, rules and regulations is one thing, but letting the offenders of law feel that they are unstoppable (in or un stoppable? :S) can lead to major crime later on. THIS HERE, is one example!

These people are creating chaos, either for political reasons or other. In Gothenburg, I know there are some drub mafia related issues as well. But, the police should take action now, and should get the training to handle issues with BALLS!

Like the pipe bomb recently found in a mall near Columbine on the anniversary. People are going insane. Hopefully the police can catch these nut jobs quickly.

Sweden gets more like Dodge City every day.

Little wonder with the mob being given virtually a free hand to operate at will.

The cops already allow them to control the nightlife and other lucrative businesses almost as they please.

How much longer before they have a major influence at high levels of govt .....,if they haven't done so already that is ?

This is nuts, although there were also riots in Bristol, UK last night. If this keeps up

NATO may have to send the Gripens back home.

The main question is, are the victims of the burned-out buying new Saabs?

Sweden needs to implement gun control, see what it has done for Washingtonian DC crime!!!!!

But wait, maybe they have -- maybe the truth is that you can only take guns away from those who don't break the law. Criminals will always have them.

Perhaps Sweden is a good example for the NRA to justify their cause?

@repat_xpat We don't want guns in Sweden. We like gun control. If we want to see a place with 10 million people idiots toting guns, we will move to Texas.

@ coh456

Looks like you gottem (guns), whether you like it or not. Thus the lesson here! Wake up fool, gun control only takes guns away from nice people, not bad guys.

Nice jab at Texas. Texas was not a member of this discussion until you choose to attack them. I bet there are a lot of Jews who would feel safer in Texas than Malmo (all of them, at least those who are brave enough to continue to live in Malmo).

Approx 2,500 deaths from guns in Texas per year. In Sweden we have approx 2 deaths per year. Do the math clown. Its people like y'all who think you are smart but are actually really really stupid who keep humanity in the dregs.
13:50 April 24, 2011 by lapua338
Everything's cool as long as the criminals keep shooting themselves and no innocent bystanders are killed or injured!

@ ooh456... there are many legally held firearms in Sweden used for sport shooting.
14:43 April 24, 2011 by wenddiver
For the record Texas has a border with Mexico, where the Police are engaged in a major war with Drug Dealers, so Texans probably needed to kill about 13,000 a year to keep the peace. Luckily they have the Texas Rangers and lots of guns to help them.

@coh456

Please cite your source: 2,500 / 2 seems odd. Especially since two were "gunned down" in this one incident. Please also extend your analysis and include the percentage of these crimes that were committed illegally :). Finally please include in your analysis the percentage of illegal citizens in each region and the crime in those communities. Sweden is blessed with a homo-genius society where crime is minimized. Low gun crime is more a result of this than the legal status of guns. As you can see, as Sweden's society changes to become more multicultural, crime is going up. Texas is very multicultural. I would suggest you compare apples and to apples, not apple to oranges.

From what I can see, it looks like the Swedish medical system kills more people than guns in Texas. Since Texas has many more people than Sweden, the percentage is much higher than Texas. Does this mean that Swedish medicine is more harmful than Texas guns?
