Stockholm bus station opens Arlanda check-in

In line with several other capital cities around Europe, flyers on certain airlines will be able to check in long before reaching the airport itself, P4 Radio Stockholm reports.

At the moment the service will only be available to those flying with certain airlines, including SAS, Norwegian, Finnair, Höga Kusten and Iceland Air, although it is expected that Air France and KLM will join the scheme soon.

“By checking in right at the Cityterminalen bus station and getting your boarding card and baggage tags, it is simply a matter of leaving your bag at the drop-off counter at Stockholm Arlanda and going through the security checkpoint.

Since both passengers and the airport are prepared, the process is faster and the waiting time shorter,” says Thomas Cassel, Head of Commercial and Terminal Business at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Swedavia.

Passengers arriving at the Central station will be able to sort out all ticketing formalities before boarding their bus and simply drop their luggage on arrival at the airport.

There are similar check-in machines available at the Arlanda Express train terminal and long term car parks at the airport.

this is more like moving the problem from the airport to the bus terminal. Long ques before entering the bus :P

Good Luck!!!!! One more step for your case to get lost or stolen.

Not to mention you cannot truthfully say that your luggage has not left your sight when asked. This has all the makings of a big problem.

WHAT ARlanda Express has had a Arlanda check-in for a long time now

ohooo Sweden is so slow, Riga had already for many years that service! Even from hotels you can check in!!! Sweden claims that it is advanced country :)))

There is more more example: Swedish movie theaters are disaster!!!! the seats are very uncomfortable and very close to each others....Turkey has very luxury salons and super luxury seats!!! Good Luck Sweden!

@johnny1939 and scandinavian leather

Did you actually read the article?
14:05 April 26, 2011 by scandinavian leather
@Åskar

Sure did. My comment was directed at the bus service in general. Unless you sit next to your luggage at the back of the bus it HAS left your sight.
17:48 April 26, 2011 by Åskar
So what would be the difference between going in the airport bus with your luggage if it is checked in or not?
20:52 April 26, 2011 by scandinavian leather
@Åskar,

You are looking at this from a point of convenience while I am looking at it from a security standpoint. My point was this (again): If your luggage, checked in or not, is sitting at the back of the bus and you are up front, it is out of your sight. I much prefer to hand my suitcase to a representative from the airline.

It is also why I take the train.

It is very good advantage! You can save time and if you are late to catch the flight you can do it earlier check in!

I can give you one example: I was flying from Arlanda to Milano, and that day it was wind storm in Sweden and Vasteras - Stockholm train late half an hour and i missed the Stockholm Arlanda Train and authomaticly i missed check in time to flight! it was left half an hour for flight time but check in desk was close already. If i could check in at Train Station 1 - 2 hours before i could catch the flight! That day i lost 10.000 sek with burned ticket! And i had to buy again ticket for 10.000 sek!!! it is good option guys.

Guys it is very diffrent system, You dont give your bags at Bus or Train Station and it is not related with security as well!!!! it is just check in with ticket!!!! you anyway need to pass the security desk and give your bags to laggage desk if they are more then 8 kg!!! otherwise you can directly go to security check point and reach to your boarding door!!! it is big time save guys!!!!

This is a great idea. Now the terrorist can check in their bomb without having to go to the airport.
