Would someone from the current US State department please reassure us the latest tranche of leaked documents about Guantanamo are forgeries.

They reveal a culture of either evil incompetence, or incompetent evil; not just from low-level staff, but way up the command structure. The documents show US prosecution lawyers agreeing that some prisoners (probably Al Quada) had been tortured so badly by the US military and/or security services, that they were unable to be presented for trial. Many are rotting in prison because the lawyers still don't know what to do with them; wait until they die seems to be the only option at the moment. If the rule of law canand be disregarded so easily in these cases, how else has the US degenerated from Reagan's "Shining city on a hill"?

If the documents are forgeries, those of us who know and love the US can be reassured that this wonderful country has not fallen into a pit of moral degredation so deep, the founding fathers (moral giants to a man) would weep in shame at what has become of their noble enterprise. Say it ain't so the US.

And you wonder why Julian Assange dioesn't want to come to Sweden. He knows he won't get a fair trial. He would be tried under US law, not Swedish....

The reality is there hasn't been a successful attack on American soil since 9/11 despite legions of animals trying to do it.
