The Local offers a quick guide for readers in Sweden about where and how to watch the royal wedding between Britan's Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Royal enthusiasts in Sweden and around the world are bursting with excitment on the eve of the royal wedding between Britan's Prince William and his bride to be, Kate Middleton.

Thousands of journalists and tourists have decended on the British capital to catch a glimpse of the happy couple, or at least to experience the wedding buzz in person.

Of course, not everyone can up and head to England, but many may want to take an extended lunch break or even skip work on Friday in order to focus all their attention on what is being billed as the biggest royal wedding in a generation.

Svergies Television (SVT) will be broadcasting the wedding live from London, augmented with studio commentary from Stockholm.

Coverage starts at 10.30am, and is scheduled to last until nearly 3pm.

In addition, Sweden's TV4 will also be flooding the Swedish airwaves with royal wedding coverage starting at 10am and featuring live footage from London as well as interviews with a number of guests from their studios in Stockholm.

And for readers who can't get to a television set, or simply can't stand to leave their computers, the royal wedding is also being livestreamed on YouTube.

That's right, time-honoured traditions meet new-fangled technology following the announcement that Clarence House will stream footage of the William and Kate walking down the aisle on The Royal Channel on YouTube, accompanied by a live multimedia blog put together by St. James’s Palace.

For those of you looking to get out of the office or away from your living room in order to weep or cheer in the company of others, it may be worth checking out a nearby bar or pub.

In Stockholm, the Tudor Arms, recently voted the best British pub in the world, opens at 11am and promises a celebratory atmosphere for patrons looking to wish the royal couple well from the Swedish capital.

The British Embassy in Stockholm will also celebrate the day with a street party for the children of the British International Primary School of Stockholm (BIPSS).

The event will be called “The World and BIPSS Celebrates the Royal Wedding” with children from over 40 nationalities attending. There will be the usual games and party food and there will also be creative activities opportunities for the kids to celebrate the day in their own special way.

Bear in mind, however, that the event is not open to the general public.

As a UK citizen i am sick to death of all the media frenzy concerning the royal wedding particularly as people are being laid off work and times are hard for families and pensioners . What is so special about these parasitic ultra rich elite who cost the tax payers millions every year and have no idea what it,s like to work for a living . I am taking the plug out of the TV tomorrow and will go for a long bike ride ,remember not all members of the British public are taken in by this carnival of the kings new clothes .

The Local's reviewer has missed the two most obvious sources, Sky News and the BBC.

Why bother with SVT when Sky are committed to covering the wedding from every conceivable angle with local British commentary from London all day long.

BBC World's slightly more restrained coverage is split into two, starting at 9.30 am and 15.10 respectively.

Personally I think our brat of a British ambassador in Stockholm - Andrew Mitchell - could have earned his salary for once by throwing the embassy's doors open to all British passport holders in Stockholm for a free party, but then again if he was decent enough to think like that he wouldn't be the elitist tosser he is.

According to the BBC today, there is only one thing happening anywhere in the world today, anybody guess what?

The lower echelon of guests to the Abbey will have to be there 3 hours before the wedding starts. wooden seats means a lot of numb bums!!

If all the pomp and splendor and hoopla serves to remind Brits of what they once were and how far they fallen in sabotaging and forfeiting their nation to the extent they have, then this can be a good thing.

Or it can be vacuous fluff.

I suppose it all depends upon the Brit.

Silly comments from little minded people.

If the brits royal family wedding has a global audience of 2 billion people - the few people with negative comments on these pages surely must recognise they are a totally insignificant minority that no-one really wants to listen to.

@Rey Stockholm, well-said. No one is forcing anyone to watch anything. Live and let live, and allow those who want to enjoy it to do what they want too.

Loved the royal wedding along with my Swedish work mates we had our own wedding party at work with butting and all ... Congratulation to the happy couple.

@ Great Scott

- the royals would never reciprocate your admiration, nor do they care about you. They will never believe that you or I are anything other than their servants, and that you and I are deemed 'beneath' them is well and proper to them, but if you're ok with that, watch their antics till you can't I guess.

If this wedding were held in my living-room I would stay in the bed room with the door closed. By the way, why is there no mention in the Local about which members of the Swedish royal family were invited.
08:45 April 30, 2011 by Rick Methven
@Tanskalainen

Victoria & Daniel where there but did not stay for the late night party as they had to come back for her fathers 65th today.

IMO I have much more respect for William than the rest of them. He is clearly another young man who just wants to get on with his life. Nobody forced anybody to watch the wedding.

The posts of yourself & Njal just come over as the bitch of a couple of loosers
10:01 April 30, 2011 by Great Scott
@ Njal

Have you ever said to yourself "please god me keep my big mouth shut". If you read correctly Njal you will see that I am neither a believer nor non believer, and said neither of the sorts. But you made judgement before you could think (understandable). All I said was don't listen to you, which I suppose others are doing.
18:11 April 30, 2011 by Njal
@ Great Scott

- lol! bit touchy this morning Great Scott, is it because you weren't invited to the wedding (they must have forgot), or that you were called out as a fake Scot?

@ Rick Methven

- IMO William has no respect for you, and could care less as to whether you have any respect for him or not. Nobody was forced to watch wedding' you're correct, but as I've said before, lots of people get married, and the fact that you want to watch it says that you are the 'looser' ( or is that loser Rick, how far away is your dictionary mate?) and a servile sycophant at that.

A Yank like yourself ought to know better, your country was largely founded as a rejection of these @$$holes.

Keep lapping it up tho'

Where do I start with people like you, maybe start with the pros and cons. Let's say we start with just the British royal family, pros - they bring in £millions in tourism to the UK every year - they provide the UK with so much pageantry, something the rest of the world admires especially the US - they are neutral in politics so can host formal occasions. - they contribute to the UK's history in a very big way. - People of the UK can always turn to them when a big occasion comes along and feel some form of comfort, especially when the UK has a right wing government that depresses them.

So what are the cons? Maybe cost of security, which any state person has to have.

The UK royal family do not get as much as most people think from the state, they generate a lot of income (which they pay tax on) from their own sources, they received many things such as cars as gifts. The royals just don't sit at home with their feet up, e.g. Prince William is in the RAF severing as a helicopter pilot rescuing people's lives, Prince Harry is serving in the army.

They do not live the lavish life style you think they do, in fact most senior politicians live better. They work many more hours than you and I do, and are often under pressure something that you and I can walk away from.

So what gains are there for abolishing royalty? What harm are they doing you?

It's Sweden's king's birthday today are you opposing that.

It's time to start thinking, move on and deal with your problem.

PS What is all this rubbish about Scott, are trying to tell me I don't know my own name.
23:41 May 1, 2011 by Njal
@Great Scott

Please read carefully: No one has the right to be so elevated above their fellow human, not because of birth and certainly not because of money; which you list as a pro in 1 paragraph and a con the next. Money is not a good or just reason to maintain this stupid ancient practice. I believe the money issue has been pointed out before, not all of us are motivated by such things.

"they provide the UK with so much pageantry"

- this is a fancy word for 'tinsel' Scott, for the easily impressed. There are many counries within the Commonwealth where there are people starving/facing gross injustices, what do you imagine their desire for 'Pageantry' is?

"they contribute to the UK's history in a very big way."

- agreed, tho' perhaps not in the way you think. There can be both good AND bad 'vestiges' of the past, yes?

" The royals just don't sit at home with their feet up"

- did Hello magazine tell you so? I was in the army myself once, and there are plenty of people out there saving lives. While I would not criticize 'Bill' for doing the right thing, I wouldn't give him any special points for it either, especially given his position.

"So what gains are there for abolishing royalty?

- no more tedious listening to people sermonizing about the bloody royals for one, a happier world for another.

"It's Sweden's king's birthday today are you opposing that."

- dunno, that's up to the Swedes, I live in the Commonwealth.

"It's time to start thinking"

- agreed, please start.

"deal with your problem."

- you mean the royals, I thought I was

"are trying to tell me I don't know my own name."

- based on your previous misconceptions possibly.

have a nice day ;)
