As shown in the photo they are normally well fenced for safety, with fairly fine mesh so as to prevent access for even small animals as well as ppl.
Can only wonder if an access gate was left open or the fence was damaged.
Another problem with them is the plastic-like flexible sheet that is used as a lining.
As can be seen it slopes right up above ground level and therefore even anyone close to the edgeof the pool would probably not get any grip to get out as it is extremely slippery.
For that reason the chances are that it was a horrible slow lingering death as she tried in vain to get back out but repeatedly slipped back in.
As for not having the right to judge whether she died stupidly...well actually...I do have that right, and the right to judge whatever the hell I want. And if you ask me, she kinda did. Not that I don't understand it, from the picture it looks like you could totally hop right in and grab your dog, only to find out that it's probably a lot deeper than it looks. But still, the whole dying in a pool of dung has some humor to it. Perhaps it's cuz I sold my soul a while back.
I stand corrected, you're an ubertool. The soil will reject me? That's asinine! As for knowing your culture, why would I? Ubertool culture doesn't interest me. Some cultures are indeed better than others.
But i still didn;'t know the dung pool can be so deep? or perhaps she slipped and hit something hard and fell unconscious
You're right. My dog to me is the same as my own child and I would do the same to protect or save her that I would do for my husband or child, or any other person. As someone else pointed out. It really is not clear what happened. I think it could just as easily have been the case of the dog dying while trying to save her life after she fell in.
BTW, it is because of this capacity for unconditional love for us that makes me love dogs the same way right back.
The owner could have been trying to reach the dog from the edge of the slurry lagoon standing on the edge of the slippy sheeting and slid in herself.
They both could have been floundering very close to the side for quite a long time ,trying to get a grip on something to pull themselves out, before eventually running out of energy.
Certainly not a pleasant way to go if that was the case.
When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?"
"This is heaven, sir," the man answered.
"Wow! Would you happen to have some water? We have traveled far," the man said.
"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up."
The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
"Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the traveler asked.
"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."
The man thought a moment, remembering all the years this dog remained loyal to him and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going. After another long walk he came to a plain dirt road, which led through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
"Excuse me!" he called to the reader. "Do you have any water? We have traveled far."
"Yes, sure, there's a faucet over there." The man pointed to a place that couldn't be seen from outside the gate. "Come on in and help yourself."
"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to his dog.
"There should be a bowl by the faucet; he is welcome to share."
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned faucet with a bowl beside it. The traveler filled the bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog. When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree waiting for them.
"What do you call this place?" the traveler asked.
"This is heaven," was the answer.
"Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road said that was heaven, too."
"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell."
"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?"
"No. We're just happy that they screen out the folks who'd leave their best friends behind in exchange for material things."
sorry rover, but im not coming in after you
Unfortunately most people have no idea just how dangerous these pits are. I am really interested in the fact that there seems to be a security fence and yet the dog still made it inside? Is a better fence required? If a dog got in wouldn't a kid be able to get in too?
The idiot who said they would not go in to save a dog but would go in to save another human would also be dead and so now you have 2 dead humans! DO NOT GO IN THERE!
That would also seem quite plausible.... I don't think the police had much to base their deductions on other than two dead bodies.
