The Christian Democrats plan to set up camp at the Stockholm Pride festival for the first time this August.

The party's Stockholm district committee has decided the time has come for a formal Christian Democrat presence and has informed the party hierarchy of its plans.

"The district committee has unanimously decided that we should have our own tent and a seminar about LGBT refugees," said Christian Democrat MP and Stockholm district chairperson, Caroline Szyber, to the Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) daily.

While the party took part in a seminar at last year's event, 2011 will be the first time that it has its own tent at the LGBT festival which will be based in Stockholm's Kungsträdgården between August 1st-7th.

At last year's festival, held in the run up to the general election, all the parliamentary party leaders were invited to take part in a debate concerning LGBT (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) issues. All accepted except Christian Democrat leader Göran Hägglund.

The party was the only one without a tent and the only one not represented in the Pride Parade, the traditional main event which typically attracts over 500,000 participants and spectators.

Caroline Szyber was one of the arrangers behind last year's seminar which was on the theme of "growing up, building a family and growing old as a homo, bi, trans or queer".

"A presence at Pride is a way of meeting this group... It takes time to win a confidence, and here we have a greater uphill struggle than the other parties," she told SvD.

Stockholm Pride is one of the city's largest festivals and is the largest Pride celebration in the Nordic region. It has been held in the city since 1998 and will this year open on August 1st and run until August 7th.

They claim to be Christian, but they have no connection with Christianism. Homosexuality is a sin.
09:20 May 5, 2011 by Grippen
Completely agree with Galexe. It seems, that currently only one party in Sweden remains christian, and that is National Democrats, NationalDemokraterna, www.nd.se
09:50 May 5, 2011 by Rick Methven
The only sin is the 2 posters above
10:24 May 5, 2011 by Rishonim
Galexe & Grippen are two scary cats.
10:27 May 5, 2011 by Infart
Technically, Grippen is correct. I see nd.se has the new Winglord CD. Might just pick that up.
11:14 May 5, 2011 by HYBRED
At least one party here has taken a lesson from USA politics. The CD's are sucking up,(no pun intended) to a block of people that actually vote. Unlike other parties that float out policy ideas,(the SD and Muslim holiday) that no significant amount of actual voters favor.
11:25 May 5, 2011 by eppie
@grippen and galexe

And what is so good about being christian? To me any political party with a religious connection is a disgrace.

For the rest I fully agree with Rick Methven.
11:42 May 5, 2011 by naimad
Hehehe.. these two losers grippen and galexe only come to show why conservatives and religious wackos are so laughable, while they only value a persons whole self being by the person one chooses to live or sleep with...

Sinners & Blasphemers & Hyopcrites!!! What a mixture
12:43 May 5, 2011 by Luckystrike
I'm not Christian..well religious and not against gay people at all but...the bible clearly states that " man must not lie with another man as you do a woman, doing so, is an abomination"

So...why do these Christians only follow the rules they want and ignore others...Money...This implies to churches as well.

Religion in general is so stupid....

Rant over :)
12:52 May 5, 2011 by fikatid
If there were extremists and religious fanatics in Sweden, Galexe & Grippen will be the ones for sure. Because of people like him, there will never be peace in the world. They are totally hypocrites when they pretend to preach love but in reality, preaching hatred and intolerance. Wish they were better educated.

Can I wear my purple chaps...and nothing else?
13:19 May 5, 2011 by fikatid
Luckystrike, you are one of those ignorant people that hand picks certain phrases from the Bible and SELECTIVELY applies them and use them to your advantages. If you apply verses from the Bible, you should apply every single one instead of selecting a few passages and use it against people. You are no difference from those Islamic fundamentalists. I only see hatred in you without love and peace. I feel sad for your ignorance.

"But all in the seas or in the rivers that do not have fins and scales, all that move in the water or any living thing which is in the water, they are an abomination to you." (Leviticus 11:10)

-Luckystrike, if you have ever attended a crayfish party, you are an abomination.

Exodus 31:15 "Whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death."

-Did you stone anyone to death for working in the sabbath day?

"I permit no woman to teach or have authority over men; she is to keep silent." Timothy 2:11

-Did you punish your wife if she did not obey you?

"Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery." (Luke 16:18)

-why don't you curse anyone who has divorced?

"And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched." (Mark 9:43)

- I bet Luckystrike will go cutting off people's hand.

"For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him." (Leviticus 20:9)

-How many neighbors' kids have you put to death?

@fikatid

What exactly is your point in relation to my comment?
14:23 May 5, 2011 by eppie
@fikatid

Indeed to me luckystrike blames christians for only obeying certain rules and not others.....so exactly what you are saying.
15:01 May 5, 2011 by Syftfel
As someone who is a Christian, and politically conservative, and who opposes abortions, I can tell you that these people are on the wrong track. They are entitled to express their opinions, bur homosexuality is not a sin, and is the least of Sweden's problems. They appear to have the some views on homosexuality as the islamists do. And we all know how we feel about them.
15:44 May 5, 2011 by eZee.se
So... they are bending over for gay people? I think they are in for a surprise ;)
17:32 May 5, 2011 by Swedesmith
How do you mean, "bending over for gay people"? Sicko.
18:10 May 5, 2011 by Observour
@fikatid

You need to know that there is a big difference between Christianity and Jewish traditions in the old testament. Jewish traditions don't apply to Christians, but God's moral laws do. The New Testament of the Bible tells us of those traditions that are to be disregarded.

(1)Eating shell fish, pigg etc

False prophets will come 'Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:'(1 Tim 4:1-4)

(2) The Sabbath and other Jewish traditions

'Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:' (Col 2:16)

(3) On marriage and divorce

"Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery." (Luke 16:18)

The above teaching is valid and those that ignore the Bible on divorce do so at their own risk. Christians are to teach and live the Bible, not to curse or kill those who don't want to be like them. Allow Christians to express their views and express yours as you with.

(4) Cut off thy hand

"And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched." (Mark 9:43)

You need to understand it Proverbs are used in the Bible such as this one. The website from which you picked your wrong teachings and your closet dudes are some of the offenses you should consider quitting ('cutting off')

(5) Obeying your parents

'Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) (Eph 6:2)

'KJV"For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him." (Leviticus 20:9)

The fact the liberals polluted children for some time now does not change the Bibles position on obedience to parents.

As you can see, all your arguments are flawed because they lack knowledge. The Bible does not commission christians to punish those you are non-christians as you wrongly thought. Sure enough, christians don'ts ask the homo people not to express their views, it's rather the other way round.

There are many things you need to learn in order to at least make a sound argument even if you don't believe in the Bible. Use the Bible and what it stands for and not the lifestyles of your liberals who are planted within to discredit Christianity. You should also know that it is rather the homosexuals who try to select scriptures to make them feel less guilty.

You still have a chance with God:)
18:39 May 5, 2011 by fikatid
My apology to @Luckystrike, I meant for Galexe & Grippen, who are the ignorant ones.

@Obervour:

I think people should have their freedom to believe what they want to believe. You're saying that your god is the only true god. The Muslims are saying the same thing. Why can't you guys leave everyone alone instead of trying to impose your views and your religious belief upon others?

What you religious folks are doing, will only create more conflicts. Look at history of man kind. 99% of the wars and conflicts are caused by intolerance and different religious believes. Has it ever come to you that perhaps, the devil is using you and all of those religious fanatics to do the bad deeds and spread hatred?

I don't know what you religious folks are thinking but all I see is hatred in you guys. I don't see anything genuine or any sincerity. Stop using religion as a mean to achieve your goal, that is, to conquer (or "convert" in your language) everyone's mind. Otherwise, all you are bring to the earth is fights and wars.
19:11 May 5, 2011 by Observour
@fikatid

'I don't know what you religious folks are thinking but all I see is hatred in you guys. I don't see anything genuine or any sincerity.'

Sincerely, I feel so pity and fraustrated by your genuine remark on religious people because I also see the ingenuity and insincerity that you talk about. But I must say that I am not speaking of any religion, church or sect. I am talking about the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Bible.

As you rightly said majority of the well known churches have moved away from the Bible and made for themselves 'doctrines' which are based on popular political views to achieve their own objectives...not to bring people up in the truth that the Bible teaches. This kind of political belief system under the guise of christianity do result in wars, you are right. But the truth is that Jesus even warned of these things in the Bible....on false teaching, liberalism, focusing on other persons faults and forgeting about one's own, wars, hate, and desasters...and the Bible advises how people should behave in times like these.

I agree these problems exist in christianity as it is wrongly portrayed but the Bible is true, so we should learn for ourselves and stop listening to everything that is told us without crosschecking. You see how misleading the website you quoted earlier on is?

I do not want to talk about the hate preached by other religions but Jesus said we should love all and be at peace with even those who hate us. We can start by allowing all to express their views, christian, liberals, conservatives, homosexuals, muslim etc. Allowing only homosexuals the freedom of expression and shuting up christians is simply wrong according to our own standards in the 'modern world'
19:12 May 5, 2011 by jamesblish
I prefer KD to be open about their gay hatred and any other medieval values they have. At least that's being honest. Because we all know what they think anyway. I sincerely hope they get thrown out of parliament at some point. I would never vote for a person who seriously believes in imaginary friends. If you're that dumb, you're unfit to lead.
19:12 May 5, 2011 by Rick Methven
There are 2 types of people 'of faith',

Those who have inner peace through the faith that to them is real and supports them in life irrespective of what others say or do.

And those, like so many of the "Christians" posting here, that THINK that they have religion, but are so unsure of themselves and their faith that they must continually berate those who do not share the same views and convert others to bolster their lack of confidence in what they profess. I wonder why?

I believe that the majority of people are good, I also believe that everybody should aid his fellows whenever he can. That is a personal philosophy that works for me, that I do not try to convert others to. My mother (95) is a lifelong Christian who also believes in live and let live and the right of all to accept or reject all religious dogma.
19:14 May 5, 2011 by Rick Methven
@observouir "but the Bible is true"

Says who?
21:38 May 5, 2011 by Swedesmith
@ Rick I'd probably like your mother.
00:02 May 6, 2011 by fikatid
@Observour

I respect your belief as long as you do not impose your views and belief other people who do not think the way you do.

I agree with Rick. In my opinion, most religious folks lack the strength to stand on their own. They have to rely on something to make them feel strong. You know from time to time, when something happens, you religious folks keep saying that it's god's plan. If a tornado ripped through your town, you say "it must be a plan from god." If that makes you feel good, that's great. Go for it. But don't try to force others to believe what you want to believe.

@Observour, like what @Rick mentioned, "....but the Bible is true.." Well, the Muslims would say, "...but the Koran is true..." as well. They think that you're wrong and you think that they are the evil ones.

You can see where this leads to.....more fights and more wars, and more intolerance. It's a vicious cycle. When people point out the contradictions within your religious belief, you guys seem to be so blinded. No one can reason with all you religious fanatics. You will get angry and be defensive. When something is unexplainable (like a common question "were there incests back then if everyone came from Adam and Eve when god created the earth??"), you religious folks would tell us "you just don't ask questions like that.".

This is the very reason why lots of political parties use religion as a tool to win votes since they can easily take advantage of the religious folks who do not think critically, and do not know how to analyze what's really true and what's not. If someone "praise god" and you will vote for him (no women for all fundamentalist Christians or Muslims believers since they believe that women are below all men according to the Bible and Koran).

There will never be peace as long as there are those who keep thinking, and telling everyone that their religion is the only "true" religion.

@observouir: The way that you're preaching your religion is no different from those Islamic extremist. You only believe "it's either my way or the highway". I feel sorry for you.
04:48 May 6, 2011 by choppie
I am a Christian. I cannot stand on my own, as I am in a wheelchair. I don't blame God for that, or anything else wrong with me physically. The thing about most of the posters here is that they do not want us shoving our beliefs down their throat. I will not do that.

On the other hand, they feel that they have the right to shove their beliefs down my throat, and it is that that I feel is not only wrong, but hypocritical. If you want us to act a certain way (ie keep our mouths shut), perhaps you should practice what you preach. (so to speak).
06:00 May 6, 2011 by calebian22
Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Sorry, but Christians are not called to be quiet about their faith.

As for hypocrisy, that is laughable. Being a Christian doesn't make you perfect. We are fallen, everyone of us. Even those who don't believe in anything.

Romans 3:23

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

So fallen, "hypocritical" Christians will continue to bother you atheists.

@Rick Methven - "(observouir "but the Bible is true") Says who?"

Rick Methven, you ignorant fool. EVERYONE knows that the bible is true because the bible ITSELF says it is true! Remember too that it is also 100% god's word true! ;-)

"Homosexuality is a sin." [g]od spelled backwards is a dog, but I much perfer real dogs to that polymorphous perverse [g]od.
21:45 May 6, 2011 by fikatid
@choppie, for the critical thinkers like myself, we don't care what you believe, or even if you worship a cat or a dog, we don't give a damn. It's your choice. I respect your choice and expect that you do the same. However, if you use religion to promote discrimination or intolerance, that is totally wrong. Have you read about the US Black History? People who discriminated the blacks back then thought and felt in the same way like how you think and feel right now. They thought they were righteous and so do you.

No one is shoving anything down your throat. If you mind your own business and keep your religion to yourself, and let everyone else be themselves, the world is a much happier place. Why do you guys keep trying to promote discrimination, intolerance and hatred by means of religion? No one force you to abandon your religion but if you use your religion against other non-believers, telling them that they will burn in hell, this is what we despise.

People can certainly get along peacefully if everyone respect each other and let everyone be. When you read the news or just hear yourself speaking, the religious fanatics like yourself are always the ones who point fingers at others saying that they will burn in hell if they don't believe what you believe. I see no love in you. If you try to show love, it's just because you want to convert people to your religion. It's not genuine and unconditional love. Your love is certainly "conditional".

Just read the news if I were you and look around. What is the main reason for all the suffering, fights and wars. It's religion. Religion can be good if you don't use it as a means to discriminate the non-believers. If you truly believe in God, you should spread love but not hatred. But from what I see and from what you said, I can certainly see that religion is source of all evil and a devil in disguise. You are being manipulated so much that you don't even realize it. It would be interesting if we put you and an Islamic extremist in the same room and see how you guys react. I don't expect to see any peace in the room. That proves my point here.
