Court confirms 'honour killing' sentence

A Swedish appeals court has confirmed the 18 year prison sentence served to a man in Katrineholm in eastern Sweden for the murder of his adoptive daughter in a so-called honour killing.

62-year-old Othman had admitted to killing his daughter in November 2010.
Othman stabbed his daughter on the stairs of the family home in Katrineholm after which he gave himself up to the police.
In interviews he explained that he had killed her as he considered her lifestyle to be "indecent" and that he was faced with no other alternative in order to protect the family honour.
When police arrived on the scene, they found his daughter lying in the foetal position at the bottom of the stairs. She had been stabbed 53 times.
According to a report in the Aftonbladet daily, Othman began hating his daughter after her husband had filed for divorce. Behind the divorce petition was a rumour of infidelity.
The 21-year-old woman and her three-year-old daughter had moved from Gothenburg to Katrineholm, in central Sweden, to live with her parents following the divorce.
The district court found that the murder had been premeditated and especially brutal.
The man will be extradited from Sweden as soon as he has served his sentence.

I read that wrong too at first, though the quotes around the honorable saved me from responding. Broliche is referring to the infidelity rumors that drove the father to defend the family honor, not the facts of the case. ( I think)
It's been a long time coming for these types of insurgents living among us Scandinavians. I wonder if this dude actually survives his 18 year club med prison sentence, as I would also imagine he will also get out once a year.
Finally, Sweden has awoken to these terrorists and will take appropriate action.
I'd rather see my taxes going to other positive things for this wonderful country, but having a choice of these mussies either running around thinking they can do anything they want, or sitting in a prison cell waiting to be deported, I'll gladly accept paying for their prison stay and stedfast exit from Sverige : )

You get EXTRADITED when another country wants you to spend some time in jail ( in that other country ), so they send you there and after you serve that time you can come back ( not the case of this 62 y/o nuts ). You can even be extradited from your own country by the way... like the drug lords sent from Colombia to U.S.
And you get DEPORTED when you live in a country that is not yours and they don't want you there any more so they send you back to your country in which you might live free or not, but will be a hard one to come back.

My heart goes out to the three-year-old. Stabbing a daughter 53 times because she got divorced "to protect the family honor..." heck no.
Justice seems to be finally being done in Sweden.
I hope this send a message to people of similar religious views that honor killings are not going to be condoned in Sweden and Europe.
I reread the story and saw that. But right thinking doesn't allow that rumor to be a factor. If his step daughter was having an affair what does that have to do with murder or honor ? It's not a justification nor an accepted reaction .

Don't pour out your ignorance. There is no such honor in Islam. Humblness, not honorableness, is the value promoted by Islam. Honor killing is a cultural matter that existed for thousdans of years (before Islam). You need to have the abc of Islam before talking trash.
BTW - Where do you stand on the correct punishment for Muslims who decide Islam's just a fairy tale ( complete with djinns!) and convert to Christianity or become atheists? Should they be killed, stoned or flogged? Mohammad, according to your Hadith, said they should be killed. How about you?
As you're seemingly incapable of understanding plain English and only see what you want to see, my points are twofold..
1. as Sparta rightly points out...Honour killings are unrelated to religion, other than coincidentally, they are purely cultural and exist in many unenlightened cultures.
2. The worst and vilest criminals and psychopaths in Sweden, particularly in the last 20 years and during the "mass immigration" period have been - you've guessed it - not Muslim at all, but Swedish.
Pleas pay attention in class.
As an example, if a father kills her daughter for the same reason mentioned in the article, then it is considered a crime in many developing countries and has a kind of punishment; as far as I know, mostly have to leave their home and can't continue their life like before the crime.
However, the same crime in Sweden gets a particular calcification to distinct between immigrants and native Swedes; mostly to marginalize immigrants. Another example of these kinds is raping; sometimes when I read Swedish Medias, it seems that raping is a phenomenon invented by immigrants and developed by immigrants (especially from developing countries) and nothing Swedish, not any Swede has ever raped anybody anywhere!
I mean if a society wants to marginalize a group of people, there are many ways to reach the aim.
Killers actually make big news here because it's rare.
In the Muslim world cold blooded killings are the norm but I guess when it's in the name of Allah it's honorable. Open a newspaper and your eyes.
Racism is not at play here, were all talking about a religion of peace that is really a religion of terror.
