What a moron
How a so magnificent novelist lets himself to be deceived to such an extent?
Well, I think...
Ask the cold blooded Hamas terrorists who rule there why they have blockades.
Remember when Hamas murdered their Palestinian brothers from Fatah in 2006/07? These thugs are who Mankel and his ilk are supporting. That is shocking and disgusting. .
If terrorism is killing of human belonging to other ethnic groups then Israel is even bigger terrorist in comparison to Palestine as it has killed roughly times more Palestinians.
No one give a damn to Pro-israel comments/propaganda given on this page, as it is crystal clear from television and print media how Israel keep Palestinians deprived of their legal rights.
We're not talking about Hamas or Israel. I was talking about some of us who call ourselves human but enjoy watching others being killed. These people and human activists are not helping Hamas. Last time the flotilla was raged there were no gun or anything similar on it. It was just food. If we have reached that level of inhumanity that we can't see some of us feeding some other hungry humans, then we should stop calling ourselves human.
very interesting, Caroline Fourest very very smart tacking the idiocy of both leftist parties and conservative parties as well as breaking down the idea that whatever criticizes islam is racist .
1- you work for israel or the far right parties
2- you are sick
3- you have nothing to do in life
i would say both 2 and 3
"Gaza is a big prison run by Isreal. No question about that. People in Gaza are forced to smuggle food and medicine through tunnels due to the Isreali blockade."
Gaza borders Egypt too and nobody complains about Egypt blockading Gaza.
First attack in the middle of international waters without any gun? You are right if they had planned to attack the fish in sea!
@Transkalainen
I hope you feel better now after saying this slander. I'm just afraid that your hatred and anger make you to harm those whom you hate so deeply. I hope you are not in Sweden anyway.
Are you blind?? Did you see those Israeli soldiers land on the boat and how they were attacked?? I believe one was even shot. I know another one was stabbed. Your one-sidedness really takes away the credibility from your argument.
my wife is 27 yo swedish blond beautiful the kind of beautiful girl who dont date scared syckos guys like you who have no cojones in life, and spend their unworthy time throwing their hate and sickness on a website read by 100 persons per year...you are jsut a looser
'Gaza is a big prison run by Isreal. No question about that. People in Gaza are forced to smuggle food and medicine through tunnels due to the Isreali blockade.'
If they have to smuggle their food and medicine through tunnels, then where do they have the time, money and resources to get all those rockets and mortars?
There's no genocide of the Palestinians. If the Palestinians ever prevail you'll see actual genocide.
Do the children in Gaza smuggle weapons? The Jewish people were victims of collective punishment by the European states. Now the Israeli government is doing similiar punishment against the Gaza population. Gaza is the only concentration camp today in the world. People in Gaza are forced to smuggle even sheep and goats (because sheep and goats are "suspected of being turned into bombs"). That is why thousdans of fair-minded Jewish are strongly against the Isreali appartied goverment. The Isreal government is in fact abusing not only the Palestinians, but also the Jewish people for their histroy is marketed to propagate crimes against Paletine civilians.
"the genocide of Palestinians by the hands of those who once suffered"
What "genocide"? There is absolutely nothing remotely similar between the Jewish Holocaust by the hand of the Nazis, and the current Israeli-Palestinians conflct. Do you even know what genocide is? Please cite credible sources to support your claim of "genocide of Palestinians", or admit you're talking absolute nonsense.
Isreal will handle them appropriatly I am sure. Boats of creeps.
The Gaza watersare not Isreali borders. They are occupied Palistinian territories.
Its just all this 'holier than thou' gesture politics bit by Mankell shows how far on Cloud 7 he is
QUOTE
Unlike the Holocaust, most of these genocides are not as focused on. Surely the fact that genocide has occurred must be condemned no matter who were the victims. Indeed, this seems to be the feeling of many Holocaust survivors themselves. They believe it is crucial to recognize, condemn and fight genocides wherever they are happening, no matter whether it involves a few thousand or millions.
In 1944, Polish-Jewish lawyer Raphael Lemkin coined the word "genocide" by combining "geno," from the Greek word for race or tribe, with "cide" from the Latin word for killing. He proposed that genocide consists of "a coordinated plan of different actions aiming at the destruction of essential foundations of the life of national groups, with the aim of annihilating the groups themselves."
Has this been happening in Palestine? According to the history of the founding of Israel, thousands of violent actions have been committed against one group of people: Palestinians. More than 535 villages were destroyed, thousands of residents were massacred and around 800,000 people were driven from their homes by force or fear of force. This process is described by Israeli historian Ilan Pappé and others as 'the ethnic cleansing of Palestine.' Since genocide is essentially the annihilation of a group, surely this is genocide.
END QUOTE
Hagrid, the death of millions of Jews in the Holocaust-level of genocide doesn't mean the death of thousands of Palestinians doesn't make it a genocide. It's not more justified to kill thousands than kill millions. Now, Investor612, show me the sources of your claim on territorial expansion. Or I'll use a quote of your friend Hagrid: "admit you're talking absolute nonsense."
I really wonder what is the difference between Alqaida terrorist supporters and you. You both support killing of people whom you don't like!!
They smuggled missles inside Gaza and shoting on our cities.
They hide themselves among the civilian population while attacking us.
Gaza is under military blockade.
Huminitary aid cross every day with trucks thruogh Erez ,Karni and Kerem Shalom gates with the aid of UN agents. between Israel and Gaza.
Another possibility is through Eygpt and Rafah cross.
Any tentative to break this blockade will be stop by the Israeli navy.
Your Prime Minister Mr. Netanyahu made a really great speech in the US the other day about Israel and the US. Very inspiring, His use of the English Language is really superb. Be assurred the US intends to be Israel's Allie all the way to Armengedon and eventual Victory.
On the one hand, the Israeli security forces may deal firmly, but fairly with the ship and its cargo - may well discover weapons and point out courteously to Mr Mankell that maybe he was 'duped', before arranging his return home.
On the other hand, the Israelis may decide to 'take no prisoners' and hand a 'propaganda coup' to all who say there is no difference between them and 'terrorists'
before the conflict on the Marmara they were kindly ordered by the Israeli navy to stop the vessel and to let the soldiers to check if there are weapons on board, instead they refused to stop the ship and the attacked the soldiers who boarded the ship with all kind of hot and cold weapons,a soldier was seriosly wounded in his head and lost his conscious after severe wound ,in that moment in which they tried to lynch the soldiers ,the soldiers opened fire ,and it was right answer for their violance,
By the way the next vessel after the Marmara showed just passive resistence they were arrested and nobody was was killed
But every shot from a gun versus the soldiers will finish badly
But of course they won't do that.
most of products in shops of Gaza are made in Israel ,they try to hide it from the customers but the costumers know exactly from where come the product,
MarshaLyn I have not read the Koran, but I doubt that it denigrates the Jews; on each minaret below the crescent are three balls of different sizes, the smallest represents Christianity, the second the Jewish faith, and the largest Islam.
Lastly, how many of you commentators have lived either in Gaza or the Israeli settlements abutting Gaza? It appears that most of your comments are based on ignorance flavoured with bigotry!
Many goods are coming from Europe to Ashdod Israeli southern port, there the men of the sending companies in Israel together with Israeli costumers check the containers and signed it, after that the UNRA agents in Israel travel with the goods directly to Gaza through one of the passes-Kerem Shalom,Karni,Erez.
Besides that all milk product ,meat, vegetables are coming from Israel directly in Gaza they write on that products in Arabic because they do not want that the people there will notice it come from us but they know any way
Wars must be avoided and leaders must do evertthing they can to resolve the political issues in peacefull ways,
On 29.11,47 the UN recognize the right of Israel to exsist and the division of Palestine in 2 states a Jewish on and an arab -Palestinian one,
Ben Gurion called on the same day all arabs to respect that decision and to avoid violance, instead the arabs and the Palestinians rejected it and attacked us 4 times:1948.1956,1967,1973, we have the right to defend our country.
These people on the Marmara had to sit quite and let the soldiers check that ship ,instead they attacked them with all kind of weapons,
the poor result is in the responsability of the aggressors
The Flotilla to Gaza is nothing short of a provocation, when the Rafah crossing is now open...
In my view, anti-Semitism has many disguises when it rears its ugly head.
“The last temptation is the greatest treason: to do the right deed for the wrong reason.”
The last temptation could also be the greatest treason, to do the wrong thing for the wrong reason.
I don't know if there's any truth in this - back in 2009 - or what it means:

Mankell should leave his manuscript and that bundle of ladies underwear behind him this time
as he sets sail in July, for what could be The Last Voyage ( a bad move, but a good movie)
Of man-kell mice and men...
This too is a good poem:

People of SWEDEN! remember this fact!
The first airplane hijackings were directed against ISRAEL.
And today against all the planes in the world !
We saw military forces in cities and towns of ISRAEL
And a lot of Eurpean people were laughing about it.
And now, we can see military forces in our cities.
To day the right of ISRAEL to exist is contested in many streets in Europe.
And tomorrow .....EUROPE perhaps ?
ISRAEL can't return to the 1967 borders for security.
And We aggree to share Palestine but the Palestine before the british mandate which included "so called" Jordan.
If Jerusalem would be divided all the Christians must fled away.
Where is "West Bank" ? We are sorry but we didn't found it on geographic maps.
We found Judea and Samaria.
Will you return to giving the Islaic Caliphate young European Males to be used asSlaves or turned into Janisieri Soldiers to fight for Islam?
Will you give young Females to the Caliphate to be sold as Sex slaves?
Will you pay tribute to the Pirates of the Islamic Caliphate to get your kidnapped Sailors back?
Will you pay your Dhemi tax for not being a Muslim?
CAREFUL WORLD, when you want to return to the past with Islam. It is a past of horror and evil, Murder and Slavery, what you do to Israel may visit your home and family.
Truely an Evil ideology.
For Muslims who wish to live in peace with Israel thhere are daily prayers in a Mosque built on top of Israels holiest site the Temple Mount, only the terrorists who wish to destry Israel are not welcomed.
Archeology proves that the borders of ancient Israel are much larger than what she currently controls.

Mr. Mankell and crew are ostensibly on a mission to deliver food and medicine not to anywhere else in the world in need, but only to their destination of choice: Gaza.
Right now, this is one of the many problems that Israel faces: weapons being smuggled into Gaza by sea - ( not to mention the possibility of the same via the Rafah Crossing that Egypt has now opened...

Should their Flotilla 2 of a thousand ships set sail in July, at all cost what has to be avoided is premeditated violence and ( Osama bin Ladin's watery grave is more than enough) what we would not like to see is any more burials at sea
http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/Government/Commu...lla_31-May-2010
The hypocrisy of this whole event is incredible.
Everyone is attacking Israel, yet until a few weeks ago the majority of the food reaching Gaza came from Israel as the Egyptians refused to allow trade or aid.
During the last four years none of the so called protest groups or flottila supporters would even mention the Rafah crossing. They only protested against the Israeili crossings.
If the protesters had protested against both the Egpytian and Israeli blockades I would have actually supported what they were doing, but they made clear they would only protest against Israeli actions, but not the Egyptians.
The Egyptian occupation of Gaza before the Israeli's, was actually the worst occupation of Gaza since the first Jihad. No one protested that.
Also Gaza was for almost 3000 years a majority Jewish city. The pograms of the 1929 when Jews were reduced to a very low level in Gaza and then 47-48 when the rest of the Jews were forced out are never mentioned. A large proportion of those living in Gaza now are living in homes that were forcibly taken from Jews in 1929. Why is no one protesting that.
The problem is, everyone only mentions muslims and there suffering. No one mentions the tens of thousands of various trypes of christian people uprooted by both sides or the entire cities of jews that were removed in pogroms.
It appears that only one group is allowed to be a victim and that all other suffering was acceptable. The blatant anti-semtism of those involved in the flotilla is there for all to see. Just talk to anyone of them or check there past statements and you will find out for yourself, what they are really about.
No one talks about that.
If it was only hypocrisy, that is beating in their chests - but it's not just that. It's a very aggressive, malignant anti-Semitism disguised as righteous, humanitarian concern for the alleged starving Gaza inhabitants of Hamastan.
Nobody is starving in Gaza. Nor is there a shortage of medicine etc and whereas there are many places in the world where people are suffering from a desperate shortage of food and medicine, for the moment, that seems to be of less concern to the Flotilla people.
http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=...024&bih=626
The last Flotilla was hell bent on a confrontation by defying the blockade and resisting a peaceful inspection, with pre-meditated violence. We are to suppose that if it were a blockade being maintained by the US or Russian Navy or Iran or North Korea, it would have been a slightly different matter – Mankell would probably not have been on board. We are also to suppose that if it takes force to maintain the blockade the next Flotilla will hope to blame whatever happens not on themselves but on Israel. It's simple. Those who are longing for martyrdom are hoping that their longing will be fulfilled.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fttRetJl0gU...ture=grec_index
Flotilla 2 does not consist in Saudi Arabia and the neighbouring Gulf countries who are of course emotionally and physically closer to Gaza than Brothers Mankell and Mattias Gardell of the Flotilla Brotherhood.
If you were to ask the Hamas government people who are still mourning the death of Osama bin Laden whether they would prefer Flotilla 2 to bring food, medicines and building materials or weapons, I'm sure that the terrorist organisation would much prefer that Henning Mankell and friends brought them weapons and materials with which they could build weapons of mass destruction, to carry on their jihad against the Jewish State which they claim they do not recognise, but still want to obliterate.
We have still not heard Mankell advising Hamas to stop firing their missiles into Israel.
Nor have we heard Mankell in a spirit of Humanitarian concern beg Hamas to release Gilad Shalit who they have held prisoner since 2006 and not allowed even a visit by the Red Cross.
Since weapons smuggling to Gaza is a very serious problem it is of course the duty of the Israeli government to stop and search all ships on the way to Gaza to ensure that no weapons arrive in Gaza, through any of the available smuggling routes, by tunnels under the ground, by land, through the now opened Gaza crossing or by sea. That is the reason for the naval blockade.
And Hamas has not renounced terrorism.
The re-opened Rafah crossing poses some of the problems mentioned here:
http://frontpagemag.com/2011/05/26/egypt-c...-out-for-hamas/
Question is what does Flotilla2 want to achieve by defying the blockade?
That the commodities being transported by ships should be free to arrive in Gaza without the Israel navy taking the time necessary to ascertain that the cargoes do not include smuggled weapons or materials that can be used to manufacture weapons etc.?
Israel will have probably to compare between a risk of a violant and bad picture abroad and the amount of the danger let the ships passing without checking them
noebody know for a sure what will be done..
thank you for your strong support,it is rare to find somebody who thinks like you these days.even here in Israel there was a debate between the people -if we could have stoped the Marmara without that tragedy...
yes we live with this kind of terrorism for the last 63 years ,they are not going to accept our right to exsist ,but Israel is unfortunatly not alone in the western world, we depend also on the the support of the European States and we can not behave like cowboys in the wild west ,it can harm our relations with the European countries with whom we have strong cultural and economical relations,so we affraid to lose that support which was giving us by now,
The government here says they will stop any ship which will try to break the blocade of our navy, but still maybee Israel will accept a controll of the ships by other neutral state ,no body knows by now what will hapen......
Israel's nukes and US Israeli air Superiority ensre there will always be an Israel. Terrorists can kill and murder, but they can not build a true Demcracy, it's against their nature. Murder yes they can do that, living Free and Good lives no they can't. You can not build a good cake out of bad ingredients.
The whole World can see the Mosque on the Temple Mount preserved by Israeli soldiers guarding it, what Arab country would protect a synagouge put up on one of Islam's religous sites?
This war is not about establishing Palestein, it's about defending the Free World from the terrorists.
Visit Sderot and ask how people can live with the ongoing threat of missile attacks every day. Ask the children there how they bearup having to live in underground shelters. See neighbouring towns also hit by missiles, speak with their inhabitants.
you and your ilk have been captivated by the Arabs with their ignorant and knowingly false statements, all too redily accepted by you. Why? Because in your heart, you hate the Jewish people who stand for common decency (yes, we have faults too). The far left Socialists died in Russia, despaingly, this cancerous growth continues to grow in what was a prosperous Europe. They have betrayed ordinary people.
Ask Hamas, the PLO where the US$billions donated by the world to their cause has been spent and stored. The cause of Palestine is the greatest hoax of the last century and continues to grow,
Mankell, read up your history of Zimbabwe before you makee speeches. Once you have done that, read historical documentation from the Ottoman empire to date concerning "Palestine." As well versed person, you are also a moronic cretin whho needs facts before fiction.
Ban Ki-Moon the Secretary- General of The United Nations has himself been pleading with organizers and supporters of the Flotilla 2, to prevent the launching of the Flotilla on a mission to Gaza – in defiance of the naval blockade.
http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defe...otilla-1.364511
Flotilla 2 is due to depart from European shores on 20th June. One thing is certain: Mankell is not going to dock at any kind of Gaza harbour.
Should he arrive in Gaza in one piece - via the Rafah Crossing - to take part in the kick-starting of the Third Intifada as the Gazans march on to their borders with Israel to provoke a confrontation on the land let us pray that Mankell the thriller writer himself does not go down in legend as the first Swedish martyr of the Second Freedom Flotilla & the Third Intifada – because the Gazans' march on Israel's borders and all the other proposed marches on Israel’s borders - variously being reported here, do not have any peaceful intentions:
http://www.dailyalert.org/archive/2011-06/2011-06-01.html
Today Turkey laments the passing of the good old days as a result of the Arab revolt against them ( the Turks) even as they aspire to full European Union Membership. And so they want to get as many Europeans as possible on board their flotilla.
Today, there's an on-going rivalry between Iran and Turkey ( neither of them Arabs) for Islamic influence and leadership North of the Tropic of Cancer. Turkey is now at the centre of action about Gaza and Flotilla number 2. Iran seems to be completely out of it, although we should not put it past them volunteering, and they may well volunteer to provide a naval escort for Flotilla 2 as a show of military muscle which they aspire to - and to win some influence in the matter. But they have their own problems with “ construction materials.” etc...
As the Gaza Flotilla 2 of 15 ships and 1,500 passengers with Mankell on board enters the conflict and sets sail for territorial waters, we hope that Mankell doesn't get mangled by yet another Dr. Mengele. Never mind the eulogies and posthumous accolades for bravery that he may receive...
This is for your attention please:
http://www.jpost.com/DiplomacyAndPolitics/...aspx?id=223181
http://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Op-EdContribu...aspx?id=223231
The mere presence of “construction materials” on board, means that Flotilla 2 is seeking confrontation on the high seas and within Israel's territorial waters, because some of the “construction materials” could be used for the construction of items that could be used for military purposes, such as launching pads or even rockets. The Flotilla 2 will therefore have to be inspected , even if there are a thousand such ships to be inspected, to prevent such materials being imported into Gaza. It is unreasonable to expect the Israeli authorities to take the organizers' word for it that there are no such items on board – or that ships have been cleared by other authorities or inspectors before leaving port.
What sort of sounds are coming out of Sweden?
These are the signs :
Catherine Ashton the Vice-president and high representative of the European Union for foreign affairs and security policy, says, “I do not consider a flotilla to be the right response to the humanitarian situation in Gaza.”
Ran Curiel, Israel's ambassador to the European Union , says the Flotilla is “a clear political provocation.”
Charles Tannock, British Conservative MP in the European Parliament says the Flotilla is an “incredibly irresponsible and hostile action.”

Let's hope that some enemy submarines and sharks are not in the vicinity. They could well torpedo a boat or two in the Flotilla's armada and blame it all on you know who...
A spokesman for the Family said he will be missed by all, except the US, who got him right in the throat with a really big missile, from a long way off.
There's no doubt that there are a number of would-be martyrs on Flotilla 2 , deliberately heading for confrontation and since we all know this, the sensible thing to do is to dissuade Flotilla 2 from setting sail, failing which they will be held legally responsible if they do not comply with the instructions they will be given by the Israeli navy...

Regarding your comment about a summer terrorist cruise.
The people from Ireland that will be on board that ship, are not from the IRA.
They are dissident supporters of the Real IRA and Continuity IRA. They fully oppose the peace process in Northern Ireland which there ex-comrades in the IRA, have fully signed up to. They oppose peaace at any cost.
They are responsible for the Omagh bombing, the 2009 Massereene Barracks shooting which killed two british soldiers and a catholic police officer in April of this year.
The supporters of the second convoy who only protest against Israeli acts, but never Egyptian acts, are full supporters of those murders. Several of them have publicly supported those killings.
The Swedish support website which openly fundraises for those terrorists is at:
http://www.irlandinformation.se/
But some one must look they do not transport weapons on board like they did with Karin A,
Israeli navy is good, Eygptain customers are ok ,UN agents are ok,
or they can pass with their goods from Ashdod port to Gaza trough Kerem Shalom pass,
or they can pass trough El Arish port in Eygpt and from there trough Rafah passage in Gaza.
If they refuse that modalities and choose to go to provocations with our navy, try to reach Gaza without any control they will have to face our navy again.
"The supporters of the second convoy who only protest against Israeli acts, but never Egyptian acts, are full supporters of those murders. Several of them have publicly supported those killings."
I hope you are able to provide solid evidence of your outburst in your trial for criminal slander.
The link to this thread has been sent to those who you accuse
Take your threats elsewhere. They mean nothing to me.
@Rick Methven- What troubled little patch of Jungle produced somebody like yourself, hating Western Culture and constantly trying to suppress free speech like comment number 84. Free thoughts are the building blocks of Western thought, they are why we outpaced the rest of the World.
I am fully in support of free speech. What Nemesis does not seem to understand is that with free speech comes the responsibility to ensure that when you accuse somebody as in
"Several of them have publicly supported those killings"
That you back up that assertion with proof.
To accuse somebody, on a public forum of supporting or sanctioning murder is not a matter to be taken lightly.
If somebody posted that you where known to support the murder of anybody you did not like, making you an accessory to murder, before or after the fact, would you just say its OK as it is just Free speech, when the law comes around investigating.
As you know on quite a few occassions, we disagree.
However when it comes to basic humanity we probably agree on more than you or I realise.
I have defended Jews, Mulims, Christians and Aethists. I have housed A Muslim asylum seeker who i can assure to anyone was 100% genuine. I got in legal trouble for that. My grandfather housed a Jewish family and a few extra kids In WW2 and got in serious trouble with the Irish government for that of which i am proud of. That family has my family on it xmas list still, even though the people involved are dead and do not celebrate xmas. My parents hid people escaping christian persecution from both sides in there home, in Northern ireland at serious risk during the troubles.
I oppose fundementalists of all persuasions. To me fundementalist are the same wether they be christian, jewish, aethist or satanist. To me blind faith is the same as blind hatred.
I support people who want democracy, weak or strong. To me the weak and infirm should be defended first.
Those planning on that boat flotilla have nothing but abject hatred of those not only in Israel, but in Gaza as well. None of them would even live in the same street as someone from the Middle East, let alone invite them into there home.
I have got to know women who wear the Burka. I have got to know muslim women who drink and go out clubbing just like everyone else in the west. I know a woman very well who wears a Burka and has shared a Guiness with me. She also has the most beautiful skin and hair I have ever seen. Without her Burka, she reminds me of the legends of Hypatia and Zenobia who come from the same area. Her beauty is incredible. I am jealous of her looks and have no problem admitting it. She really is that beautiful.
If a women wearing a Burka sat down beside methven or any of the other flotilla supporters, I can assure you they would get up and move due to discomfort.
I found out more by engaging with them than by ignoring them. Some of those women are funny as hell just like any other women, when you get to know them.
Also if you get to know a woman from Gaza very well, you will hear an untold story that does not fit with either side. Methven like other men, always discounts the womans story and experience.
Maybe we can talk later in privmail.
"Those planning on that boat flotilla have nothing but abject hatred of those not only in Israel, but in Gaza as well. None of them would even live in the same street as someone from the Middle East, let alone invite them into there home"
Proof supporting this statement?
And how about some proof for this one
"Methven like other men, always discounts the womans story and experience."
Or as usual do you just know you are correct without the need of verification
"Methven like other men, always discounts the womans story and experience
.Or as usual do you just know you are correct without the need of verification.
