Malmö police station attacked by gunfire

Published: 18 Jun 11 11:11 CET | Print version
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/34434/20110618/

The police station in Malmö district Rosengård, in the south of Sweden, was fired upon early Saturday morning.

"At 4:29 a.m. police on location alerted us about the gunshots," Hanna Berndtsson, Skåne police information officer, told the TT news agency.

No one was physically injured by the shooting.

"There were police officers on the second floor of the building, but the shots were fired towards the first floor, so there were no injuries."

Security at the police station has now been tightened, and a forensic investigation squad is on location to find out what happened.

Thus far the forensic investigation has revealed that live ammunition was used in the shooting, and therefore an attempted murder probe has been initiated, according to the Malmö police force.

At this moment the police have no information about the type of weapon used, or the reason for the shooting.

"We don't know the origins of all this yet," said Hanna Berndtsson.

Rosengård, centrally located in Malmö, is an area commonly associated with social difficulties, and has been the place of several riots and clashes between local youths and authorities in recent years.

There was a millionare swedish woman that did the equivalent of 'secret millionare' in sweden and in fact went to Rosengård. On filming on the street you could hear the 'locals' screming at her telling her that shes not allowed to film there and that they are the law. she finally retreated to her bedroom and was scared to leave it...

What civil unrest in Sweden? Whatever next?

Jesus I would hate to live there. It sounds like a plot from Wallander or something!
14:37 June 18, 2011 by Valdemaratterdag
I think that every Swedish politician or citizen who approves of Sweden's current immigration policies regarding refugees should be forced to live in Rosengård for two weeks. I personally don't think these bleeding hearts would last for one day.
14:47 June 18, 2011 by byke
Is this really about immigration?

I haven't see anything mentioning a foreign crime on this article .....

Or simply that malmo is griped in a crime wave which law enforcement seem unable to handle.

I love the stock photo. As if Swedish police are allowed to shoot back.

First Södertälje now this.

Södertälje was named "The international capital" of Sweden. The same city that is now plauged with organized crime, drugs, violence and total dissolvement of the civil society.

Oh the irony!!

Brought to you by multiculturalism...

Are we done yet?
19:32 June 18, 2011 by swedejane
Brought to you by multiculturalism? Really? Pretty absurd statement...oh, but the sweden of 20 years ago was a lilly white utopia with no crime, milk and honey, and nothing but blue-eyed swedish women named Inga waiting for nothing more than to please her man.

Please...

Criminals are responsible for crime. You don't have to be a foreigner to be a criminal.
19:57 June 18, 2011 by technoviking
@swedejane

Yes you've already shown your absolute ignorance regarding the demographics of crime in Sweden multiple times. This just for reinforcement?

Thanks for the rhetoric. Let the grown ups us who can read statistics do the talking.

Rosengård is on a Swedish land it means it should be lawed by Swedish secular laws. I believe Swedish police should sort out this get in and take care of the violence there capture all the criminals!! Politicians never want to discuss this and solve this problem which leaves a party like SD to unleash its hate speech campaign. Sweden needs a new party to solve immigration problems in a healthy debate. Our children should feel safe and live in peace and harmony.

You need Police leaders who are intent on enforcing Swedish Law or going to Die trying. Irreguardless of the ethnicity of the Criminal Dirt Bags involved.

Something must have gone very wrong in Sweden. Just look at the above picture. A police officer with a machine guarding the police station. Not even at the police precinct can you feel safe. Is this what it's come to? I have to believe that fingers can be pointed at the social dem party and its grotesque immigration policies initiated by none other than - dare I say it - o. palme. How do you social dems feel about this picture? Look what you've done. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Hey The Local ... I went through and reread the terms of use since you removed imy comment, claiming it was in violation of those terms.

Please explain to me how what I wrote was in any way a violation of those terms, because I honestly don't understand where you are getting this from.

I say "you allow criminals to immigrate to your country, and you're surprised when they continue to be violent." How is that considered a "breach" of the user terms?

Seems that between them the mob and the immigrants are rapidly taking over the country with zero resistance from the natives who are soon to be little more than third class citizens should they wish to stay.

12:26 June 19, 2011 by Syftfel
Judging from the number of removed comments following my last entry, I must conclude that I set someone off. Did I say something wrong? I believe that all comments should be allowed as long as 1) They're on topic, in this case a shooting at a police precinct and the causes thereof, and 2) They do not include direct personal attacks, i.e. critisize ideas not people. To invoke Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, or palme is fair since they all, historically, represent reprehensible totalitarian, political ideas.
13:09 June 19, 2011 by Pannem
If this is the problem with uneducated immigrants, why sweden is allowing them. In that case sweden has to consider skilled immigrants with good education skills Then sweden may reduce these crimes. But u never know educated persons are also participated in that. mosty not.
13:58 June 19, 2011 by technoviking
@ pannem

Exactly.

You are going to be hard pressed to find a Chinese engineer, an Indian IT expert or a Chilean dentist who's hobbies include shooting at police and raping Swedish girls.

Skilled immigration would ACTUALLY make sense.

But Sweden seems to be masochistic as far as immigration goes and prefers to allow the most primitive uneducated elements from the worst most violent places in the world instead.
17:00 June 19, 2011 by james7
@ Swedejane: So how's that multiculturalism thingie working out for you over there? Immigrant gangs don't shoot at police stations in NY or LA. They only do that in Brazil, Mexico, Afghanistan, etc. Looks like Sweden is far ahead of the US. Thanks to foward thinking people like you, Sweden has become a third world country in record time.

Time to send the third world immigrants back to where they came from. Closing immigration to such people would also be a good move, if you would like to be able to continue to walk the streets peacefully.

The key comment in the article is, "clashes between local youths and authorities in recent years". Youths typically refers to immigrants in European publications. I have stated in the past how pro immigration I am. Living in an international city, I am friends with more people born abroad than in the US. However, indiscriminately allowing immigrants in from the most violent parts of the world is a recipe for disaster.

Every Western country seems to be having issues with this, but Sweden seems to be far ahead of the game. This seems like something that would happen in Sao Paulo or Mexico City, not Sweden which is typically seen as such a peaceful place.

I agree that stupid, racist, off topic comments should be removed, but when more than 1 in 4 comments are removed someone is most likely going overboard with their censorship.

If they don't want discussion and different opinions here why have a comment section at all?

It's starting to sound like the political situation in Sweden. There's supposed to be freedom of speech, but that only applies if you say something that the ruling parties agree with, otherwise you're cast out.

@james7

Im sorry WHAT!? Since when immigrant gangs do anything in brazil?

If there were any immigrant gangs doing anything in brazil they would be purged by other brazilian drug traffikers.

In Brazil, criminal gangs/drug traffikers have been known to shoot at and attack police stations and even burn entire busses with people inside it has nothing to do with immigration though.

It has to do with ignorant people who are brough up in a horrible environment where traffikers roam free and police couldnt get to, but that is changing and has improved alot in the past 5 years.

Have you ever even been to Brazil?

If you Google with some of the terms you will get many policy docs about the future EU bureaucrats envisions for Europe unified with "South Mediterranean" aka Middle East.

The main one is titled

Dar al Islam. The Mediterranean, the world system and the "wider EUrope"

"wider EUrope" is a code word for Eurabia.
02:24 June 22, 2011 by wolfbay
I think the police were considering hiring a security firm to protect the police station. You either have to laugh or cry about a situation like that.I think it's amusing. There'll be more laughs as the "Malmoization" of Sweden continues.
