June figures dip in strong auto market

In June there were 27,485 new cars registered in Sweden, a drop by 2.8 percent compared to the same month last year, according to industry organisation Bil Sweden, representing manufacturers and importers of cars, trucks and buses.

“The minor decrease in June was affected by there being fewer days to register this month compared to the same month last year, equivalent of a decrease by 10 percent,” said Bil Sweden’s CEO Bertil Moldén in a statement.
He also added that the market was gaining strength this time last year.
“So we're comparing against strong figures from last year,” he continued.
Looking at the full picture, the market has been “very strong” for the automotive industry the first 6 months of 2011, according to Moldén.
In June 221 Saab cars were re-registered, which is a drop by 73.6 percent compared to the same month last year. Since the beginning of the year 3,137 Saabs have been registered, signifying a decrease by 1.6 percent.
The number of new registrations for Volvo increased in June by 10.5 percent to 5,258 and in total in the first 6 months of 2011 by 19.7 percent to 29,338.
Saab’s decline was expected, according to Bertil Moldén.
“The factory has been at a standstill for weeks. If you don’t have any production you won’t be delivering cars to customers and hence you have no new registrations,” he told TT
Volvo can thank its diesel engine cars for the strong figures, according to Moldén.
“Diesel is getting increasingly more popular and June has been the best diesel month so far, “ Moldén told TT.

Remember, a computer company was near bankrupt numerous times in the late 80's and 90's, I think the name was Apple (highest value tech company in the world now). It will play out, Saab got some new top brass from Subaru and Chrysler (Jeep division) and will be back on the block. Also, I challenge anyone to drive the new 9-5 and they are giving 10K off, and give it some serious consideration. I have two 9-3's now, and have had 7 Saabs to date and feel good when my family is driving around in them, as the new 9-5, they blow away the crash comparisons each and every time.
