The Animal Liberation Front has claimed responsibility for Friday's fire attack at a hamburger restaurant in Gothenburg, according to local media reports.

In a posting on the animal rights activists website Bite Back Magazine, those allegedly responsible described how they smashed two windows with hammers at the burger restaurant at the Scandinavium Center, poured ten liters of petrol in and set it alight.

The posting continued, “We were in a hurry as the sun had risen and it was light outside, so we threw the containers with written ALF-messages on them and some lighted matches into the restaurant and it went up in a big fire instantly. Burn in hell animal killers and capitalists!”

Nobody was in the restaurant at the time of the attack, said to be around 5 o’clock in the morning, though damage is extensive. Police have confirmed that the perpetators will face charges of aggravated arson.

On the Bite Back website activists also claimed responsibility for other attacks in Sweden including a hunting and fishing shop in Nyköping where windrows and doors were destroyed, a Pressbyrån shop in Eskilstuna and another McDonalds in the same city, where stones and tar bombs used to smash windows in the fast food joint.

Bite Back was founded in 2001 by Nicolas Atwood, an animal rights activist in West Palm Beach, Florida, with a mission to "support animal rights prisoners of conscience and report on current events in the struggle."

Hopefully brave actions like these will lead to people considering their food choices a little more, especially a vegetarian or vegan diet.

Society as a whole is helped by not eating McDonalds for the week or so it takes for the restaurants insurance company to fix things up.

Whoever did it: thank you!

Animal rights group should study science to know that both plants and animals are living creatures feeling pain. Now the Science tells us any plant you cut to eat they yell and cry and they feel pain so It is not possible for human to listen to this voice but they cry.

The Oxygen we use to breath is living creature and we kill them because we need to survive, so it not only animals.

If you look at human teeth and the animals who are eating meat. If you look at their teeth it is designed to eat meat. Like Lion tigers. we have two vampire styles teeth.

But if you look at the teeth of animal which are not designed for having meat, they eat grasses and fresh vegetables like cow, sheep and their teeth are straight flat not designed to eat meat.

Allah has designed humans to have meat and vegetables coz we got flat teeth as well.

They are set of rules that we must follow and we should not eat the unlawful animals like Pigs, Pigs eat dead animals and is very dirty and acts like pimps instead we should have animals who eat fresh vegetables like cow, sheep.

But if you can survive without having meat then it is perfect :) coz meat price would go down :)

McDonalds should hire special operators to hunt the perps down, as the Israelis did after Entebbe.

ALF are a bunch of cowards who need a good kick.

I am sorry but I am for all animal rights and what not, but you people are not thinking about the employees, you know they dont choose to be there I don't know how can people think that by damaging a company will do good? I mean there are people working there, imagine if this act for "animal rights" will harm or even kill an employee what did they accomplished? nothing, a lost of life for something that it didn't achieve anything. Some animal rights groups sicken me, they take it way too far if you dont like it then dont even go there, as simple as that, I my self hate mccrap but it doesn't give me the right to go there and destroy a establishment knowing there are people just like me trying to make a living. Destroying property will lead to nothing but trouble.

Sweden is the only place in the world with people so stupid as to carry out actions like this one, guess this is the "dark Sweden". Excess of welfare??? I have seen even more stupid Swedes demonstrating against traffic sitting down in a pedestrian crossing just to stop 7 or 8 cars (Linköping is not famous for its traffic jams). So much leisure time make youth think of stupid ideals, specially among bored young Swedes. They need a double-cross slap in the face

ALF are terrorist idiots. All meat is yummy, especially juicy pork sausage. Anyone is welcome to not eat tasty pig, more for me.

Yaha!!!

Haven't eaten at McD's in almost 10 years. On my way now.

To the ALF. You are just like the fundamentalist Muslims, Christians, Jews, 12 steppers and the other groups who are intent on imposing their view on everyone else.

Please bear in mind that there are people all over the world who are starving. The money you spent on petrol would have fed someone.

Sadly, ALF is just another group of children with too much time on their hands.
