Ship to Gaza hit by cyber attack

The website of Swedish Ship to Gaza has been subjected to a cyber attack, in the latest setback to befall the aid and protest convoy the Freedom Flotilla II.

The group were forced to shut down their website on Friday after a so-called overload attack which forced their server company to pull the plug.

"Since Friday morning our server supplier has been under attack, which means that our website is down. We can't say for sure if it is directed against us, but it is obviously an advanced attack," Ship to Gaza wrote in a statement.

The organisation shifted their information feed to a temporary blog and are considering whether to report the matter to the police, while they sought to play down the impact of the attack.

"The effects of the attack were not those desired," Ship to Gaza press spokesperson Mikael Löfgren told the TT news agency.

The Freedom Flotilla II, uniting 300 activists from all walks of life and 22 different countries, and aiming to transport necessities and to protest the Israeli blockade of the Palestinian-controlled coastal strip, has suffered a slew of setbacks.

Israel has made no secret of its determination to prevent the flotilla from reaching Gaza, which has been under a blockade since 2006 after militants there snatched an Israeli soldier who is still being held at a secret location.

Earlier this summer the Swedish Ship to Gaza group reported damage to their boat Juliano, while berthed in Piraeus harbour in Greece.

The Israeli government later rejected the claims of the Swedish Ship to Gaza movement that "foreign agents" had sabotaged their boat, calling it a "James Bond-esque" insinuation, with no bearing on reality.

The Juliano remains held by the coastguard in Iraklio, Crete having recently lost its second flag, from St.Kitts and Nevis, after Sierra Leone earlier withdrew theirs.

The French-registered ship Dignité is currently the only vessel of the original fleet to be sailing towards the Gaza coast. Swedish Ship to Gaza spokesperson, Dror Feiler, is among the ten activists onboard.

There is a lot of truth in what you are saying but it is not all that simple.

Bad USA, destroying these countries when all the innocent Iraqis, Somalis, Afghanis & Palestinians were just sitting at home baking cakes.

The Chinese allegedly carried out cyber attacks against US defense and military agencies. The Iranians and arabs target Israeli, Zionist and Jewish websites. So what if the neofascist flotilla was hit by cyber attack? Wonderful news. If Israel is responsible, good for them in defending their interests, just as Sweden and other countries do too.

Perhaps the lefties might want to visit Sderot and other Israeli towns, village, leftwing kibbutzim and moshavim that are plagues with rocket and missile attacks aling the Gaza border and the hinterland, too.

When is the next book of Mankell coming out? When will Dror Feiler give a concert or organize another exhibition and the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm?

Once more: Both of them are only in the search of free publicity and they keep on poisoning whoever they can with the lies about

how Israelis have been killing here and there.

Please, do not forget that Israelies are defending its territory for the continuos attack their cities are under.

Comrade2011

What about the Jews civilians: women, children ,old people -innocent persons who were masacared by the Palestinians terrorists during the late 100 years in Israel and abroad,?

Or you in Sweden are used to see the Jews in concentrations camps like you did to my parents?

There is a conflict between 2 people the Israeli and the Palestinian who fight for the same land,

Just that Israel accepted on 29.11.47 the division of Palestine into 2 states :a Jewish one and an Arab Palestinian one ,but the arabs reject it till today .

So I tell you what my fother told once a Palestinian who told him to go back to Europe."I have no land to go in Europe I came from Auschwizim there I lost all my family I my wife and my children will fight on our right to live in Israel,if you want to take my land and to push me into the sea like Gamal Abdel Nasser said, you will have to kill me and my family first and it will not be easy.."

@ guliver

Your comment to Comrade2011 was right on target. He is one of the many thousands in Sweden who really think that the Palestinians have the right to kill whoever they want but that Israelies do not have the right to defend themselves. Unfortunately, in Sweden we have not another Israeli ambassador like Ziv Mazel to defend the Jewish rights to be and survive. We have only a mass of stupid politicians who, everytime they can, attack your people, supported, but of course, by the so-called Swedish "free" press like the Aftonbladets and Co.

I had many Jewish friends in my live. One of them was precisely Ziv Mazel.

My family knows exactly what you mean by honesty and truth,we have learnt on our skin your justice specialy in Europe between 1933-1945,

they only time people like you cry it was from happiness when our families were conduced with trains to Auschwizim.

you go on blaming us for murder i,and completly blind for the intention of the arabs to eliminate us with repeated wars in the last 63 years,

Begging for your sympathy?we have seen already your simpathy when it came for 6 millions Jews,

Powerless people?were you have been on 29.11.47 as 7 arabs countries tried to eliminate our tiny country? where have you been on 5.6.67 when they tried it again? and on 5.10.73 when they tried it again?

We learnt to trust ourselves by defending our people

Tut, tut Comrade. Your commissars must feel very good at your reasoning of the middle east. Moslems have been killing anyone who disagrees with them since the very beginning of Islam. In fact the people who converted to Islam from moon worshiping only continued their idea of sport.

We do not want your sympathy, you are just too ignorant to understand history. Try reading historical documentation about the mid east drama and then, perhaps, you may have some understanding.

Sweden has again come under scrutiny with the finding that Nazi sympathy is as equally strong today as it was when you allowed the Wehrmacht passage through your terrirory from Norway to Sweden. Sweden has a much larger, but equally deviant people who are neo leftwing fascists. The obly difference between left wing international socialism and right wing national socialism is the word "inter".

How do you equate wonderful socialists such as Stalin, Hitler, Mao etc etc etc? They are all responsible for mass murder. No wonder both extremes love the Arab cause. Slaughter should be your password.

@guiliver

"Just that Israel accepted on 29.11.47 the division of Palestine into 2 states :a Jewish one and an Arab Palestinian one ,but the arabs reject it till today ."

That unfortunately is the sad lie that underpins the whole conflict. The palestinians know now that Olso was a good deal, and Fatah would take something like Olso now. The deal should be as required by the UN resolutions, that Israel gets land equivlent to 100% of the pre-1967 borders (with some land swaps), which is a bit more than was on the table at Olso.

The problem is that deal is completely unnacceptable to Likud and the rest. They have won all the wars so far, the palastinans "need to recognise that they are a beaten people" and should take what they are offered.

You need to get off your high horse, and regognise that a 2 state solution has NEVER been on offer from the israeli right wing, which is why we see all the rubbish with the wall biting off chunks of palesinian land. All the settlements in the west bank and related stuff. What they want is Israel to control the west bank and golan hights as they think they are necessary for defense.

Of course that makes the native palestinan population a problem, so you treat them like dirt and hope they leave. Or you go for the apartheid solution and deny them the vote. Nice one that will bring peace.

The fact remains that the israeli right wing thinks with all the victories that they deserve some extra land, and they are not going to give it up without a fight.

So please cut the lies and admit that Israel has dome some pretty horrible things over the years. Or you could just put Oslo back on the table, and get a real peace.

You wrote: "Israel destroys and annihilates (Killed, still Killing and will continue killing) Palestine and Palestinians, the European taxpayers money goes as aids." Then in #11 you wrote "oh boy your drama made me cry... Why you deflect the topic and makes it look as I am talking about Israelis and Palestinians ?"

If you are coherent in what you write, go and fly a kite and play with your f.m.

And I cannot tell others how it tasted because your f.m. ate it all.

Dear Comrade, You may wish to know why the Europeans do not feel gratitude to the Russians( or UdSSR) , Please read recent European history with a focus on September, 1939 and the Molotoff/Ribbentropf Pact. that will shed some light on that subject.

" Israel takes land , does not give it back" Oh, My that is how it works, see also Europe 1945 and which Neighbors of Russia lost land to the Bear?Answer:

Finland. Czech, Poland , Japan ,Germany,Bulgaria, for which i do not hear You crying. Israel was attacked and responded, I say they should certainly keep the West bank and access to their Wall of the Temple( Previously denied to them )

the Jews went to the Barren desert, irrigated crops and prospered, Yet they are under almost constant attack by bombing and Rocket attact.

Most of us have not experienced such a life, I do not want to live like that.

Saying part of the b truth is still a lie, before Likud came to power in a democratic vote , there were the camp david talks with the Labour party and Barak and Sarid the dialogue went on in Eilat and almost reached a 2 states agreement but then Arafat did not agree to withdrown in more steps what Barack offered as it was with the Eygptian model of peace ,and he cut the dialogue and open the first Intifada,

short after that Hamas who represent 50 percent of the Palestinian people came to power, yhey do not recognize the right of Israel to exsist, I live few km from Gazza border I do understand arabic and I hear exactly what Hannie says in radio and TV on that issue, making peace with whom then? 50 percent of the Palestinians?
18:03 July 19, 2011 by motti
@Belmar, thank you. You, Gulliver, others and now zeulf write accurately without malice. Unfortunately, the likes of Iraniboy,Comrade and others of their ilk, only show extreme ignorance. Misrepresentation, half truths, and absolute lies. The problem is they are unable to see the truth, if it is in front of them, as their hate blinds them to reality.

We can communicate and compare history, but when denial and revision takes hold, then we the problems start. We don't look for sympathy, we are not all victims. however, not to learn from the past, readies for the repeats in history.

Yes, the Arabs are the victims. They have happily lost every war, crying at the unjustness of not being able to complete their plans. Iran, most Arab states, Hezbullah, Hamas openly state their intention to slaughter the Jews and eradicate the sole tiny Jewish state of Israel. Unlike the Arabs, Israel is unable to lose just once, as that will be the finish. No doubt, the neoleftFascists and neorightNazis continue to dream this nightmare.

I've mentioned before. Please look at the Israeli sites DEBKA.Com and MEMRI to really know and nderstand exactly what is happening. Afterall knowledge is power and that's why the US military and intelligence favours Israel so much and has no time for her Euroi NATO allies.

Do you all think that absolutely no one stands to make a profit out of Ship to Gaza? The press are having a field day at the expense of needy people. To the battle of Dunkirk, Individual fishermen in 12 foot boats crossed the channel alone with little more than a 5 single shot rifle to stand beside their forces for their belief in their country .. and they won. The luxuriously provisioned STG packed with well meaning hippies and 1/2 famous others is simply an embarr[ASS]ment anyway, that's why the press are making profit from it.

the most puzzling thing is that the world seems overlook the following in its debates:

rwanda - 800,000 killed in 100 days (1994) the highest attrition rate ever

afghanistan - 900,000 (1979-1982 by russia not USA)

cambodia - 1.7 million (1975-1979)

ethiopia - 1.5 million (1975-1978)

korea - 2.5 million (1950-53)

vietnam - 2.5 million (1955-1975)

russia - 23 million (1932-1939)

2.5 million greeks and armenians by turkey (1915-1920)

and the 40-50 million civilians that died in WWII excluding concentration camps

however as a wise man once said, "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics."
21:49 July 30, 2011 by motti
Jack, the largest mass killings/murders of of civilians were carried out by Chairman Mao in China. People were forced to eat the flesh of their dead kin. I kid you not.

Of course as a communist/socialist, these crimes were not so important, alos because it was in a far away country. Double standards?
