Norway killer bought bomb parts in Sweden

A core ingredient for the bomb which ripped through the government buildings in Oslo, Norway last Friday was bought in Sweden, while the government has proposed a review of the sale of fertilizer, another ingredient in the bomb.

Anders Behring Breivik, the 32-year-old man who has admitted being responsible for the attacks which left over 70 people dead, personally collected 150 kilogrammes of aluminium powder from Schenkers terminal in Karlstad, according to the Göteborgs-Posten daily.

According to his terror manifesto, published shortly before the attacks, the aluminium powder is one of the ingredients in the manufacture of the type of homemade bomb which Behring Breivik is suspected of using during Friday's attack.

The powder is used, he wrote, to boost the bomb's explosive capacity.

According to Behring Breivik's manifesto he spent €240,000 ($347,300) on the attacks and despite not having any income to speak of. According to the Norwegian tax authorities he has declared a total income of only 5,223 kronor since 2006.

According to reports in the UK press a member of the extreme-right English Defence League (EDL) has admitted that the organisation had had contact with the man responsible for Norway's worst ever terrorist atrocity.

The Swedish government is meanwhile considering a review of the regulations governing the sale of fertilizer, one of the other main ingredients in the bomb.

"I think the rules need to be tightened. Then the events in Norway highlight the issue, that makes you see how important it is that steps are taken in the area," justice minister Beatrice Ask told Sveriges Radio (SR).

The ammonium nitrate is the active ingredient in fertilizer which can be used for making explosives when put together with fuel and a detonator.

The combination has been used by, among others the Taliban in Afghanistan and the Oklahoma bomber.

Restricting the sales of fertilizer to a registered farmer, how are you meant to do that?

As a fervid proponent of multiculturalism, why hasn't The Local hasn't written about the estimated 3.5 + million children, women, and men facing starvation right NOW in Somalia? Sweden, afterall, has a large Somali population. Where is this story on The Local?

Is The Local a news site, or is it a political propaganda tool used to attack those its writers and editors define as political villains and "simpletons"?

This investigation is getting interesting, He bought the Bomb components in Sweden. Obviously, he must have bought it with the help of someone living in Sweden.Put accurately, there is a Swedish connection to this tragedy. But the funny thing is that SD members still have the guts to associate themselves with the ideas of this Norwegian Maggot from the toilet without remorse.
18:42 July 26, 2011 by RadioBob
...I thought that Swedish laws would prevent anything like this from happening in Sweden. It's difficult to comprehend how naive some people can be.

btw: @el dorado: Stay on topic. Crap like this just makes people pissed & your credibility as any type of contributor is zero.
18:54 July 26, 2011 by conboy
and as for the Swedish police assuring one and all just a day ago that no specific threat exists here honestly how the hell do they know?

El Dorado:

Because we are not in Somalia. Somalia's problems are Somalia's. The fact that there are Somalians living here has no bearing upon Sweden's news reports, nor should it.
19:58 July 26, 2011 by Observour
Philster61: I think you are right about that..Somalia's problems are Somalia's...because they don't have oil like Lybia and Iraq there are no incentives for us to go there.

I didn't know we could cry when people are killed until it happened in Norway. A terrorist group linked to Alqaida is troubling Somalia we complain whilst we actively support another terrorist group also linked to alqaida in Lybia with shamelessness and greed....when will some grippens be sent to China.

In any case I don't support the SD or crap in Norway but there's too much hypocricy

I'm an african but not the stupid one's,i take it the guy that mention the somalia starvation must or might be a somalian nation, just want to ask this individual,is that why they come here to stay on social welfare benefit? rather than look for work to help families back home,no wonder the swedish immigration give you guys permit quickly to stay cause you're not a threat to their jobs.

I've been living in england before, when there are crises in pakistan or india, their huge popurlation some decent amount first before the UK goverment give them some much needed support, somalians are a disgrace to african here in EU,any body who don't like what i said,to hell with you

Europol report says: in 2009 there were 294 terrorist attacks on European countries and guess what only 1 was done by so called muslims, the 293 terrorist attacks are done by Christians terrorists groups or lefties- groups like Sverige democrates.

So The professionalism of right-wing propaganda shows that right-wing extremist groups have the will to enlarge and spread their ideology, and still pose a threat in EU Member States.
20:54 July 26, 2011 by xcited?
The man who killed 86 people in Norway by shooting is just a gunman not a terrorist. U knw why? Coz he is not muslim.
21:03 July 26, 2011 by lovedealer76
@xcited,you making me laughing my ass off,i like the way you put it,nice one,lol

He is bloody murder..............!! Its a shame for the law if he is sentenced for 30 years imprisonment. After that again he will come and kill fellow peoples. !

He is just diverting the attention of media..! what is the answer u will give to those people who lost their sons and daughters is due to multiculti, fascism.

its shame to discuss about his rants its disrespectful to those who lost their lives due to this retarded scum.!!

Some pile pf craps he just copied from other books. Its big blow for other respectful Christians
21:15 July 26, 2011 by summo
technically he is a terrorist, because he used force to further political aims or was against an element of politics, that is why the are talking about charges related to terrorism.
21:24 July 26, 2011 by Just_Kidding
I think he was a terrorist because he killed innocent people for political reasons. In contrast, Claus von Stauffenberg might not be considered a terrorist by some people as he tried to kill a criminal (Adolf Hitler); however, it is not easy to decide if someone is a criminal outside of an acceptable legal system.

BTW, It is funny that Swedish police chief claims that such an attack was impossible in Sweden. Does he know that there is no border checks between Sweden and Norway?

An artcle said he spent a total of 240.000 euro to finance his attack while the tax man only known he had only 5 thousand at his possession,it means he hard enough support from somewhere,i bet the real picture on this dude hasn't been painted yet
21:40 July 26, 2011 by jackx123
incredible that this very sad event gets such a media coverage. why? maybe it's because it's extremely rare occurrence.

However, the weekly death toll by muslim terrorist attacks supersedes this comfortably.

there has been over 17,500 muslim terrorist attacks in the world since 9/11.
22:15 July 26, 2011 by Nemesis
So much for the Swedish police claim that an attack like the Oslo attack could not happen in Sweden.

The Norwegian krona goes a lot further for shopping in Sweden.
08:03 July 27, 2011 by chemist007
@xcited....real racist and stupid approach. ok he is not a terrorist because he is not not muslim but keep one thing in mind, these gunmen are countless in European society. Terrorism has no faith n religion, i think u r well educated person but behaving like a dumb.....these gunmen are killing their own people n u r gettin excited....

Does this mean the Swedish police and security services don't already monitor unusual and/or large scale sales of fertiliser and other typical bomb making chemicals? Other countries afflicted by terrorism do, quite effectively; the British have busted a few local networks this way. Order a large batch of nitrogen based fertiliser from a farm supplier in Texas and see what happens next. Order a batch of hydrogen peroxide from a chemical company in Oxfordshire and see what happens next.

I guess the Swedish police were too busy staking out middle aged hookers. That was a shame, they would have caught Breivik months ago if they had done their job properly.
12:15 July 27, 2011 by viroz
I don't a give a rassclad if that fassy is discribed as gunman or terrorist but i know where i come from he wud have gotten an instant. justice, and i can't stand this crap suggestion that he might be insane, that's foolisness.
12:32 July 27, 2011 by SaraMx
The thing I can't stand is that this guy may just get a sentence of maximum 30 years in prison, according to what's been reported.

That's disgusting... Paying 4 months in prison for each life he took away??
14:22 July 27, 2011 by Swedesmith
Go organic. Terrorists would have a hard time making a manure bomb.
14:54 July 27, 2011 by Scambaiter
Technically Breivik isn't a "terrorist", he's a delusional, sociopathic mass-murderer, possibly a psychopath. This is because a "terrorist" is a militant who indiscriminately targets the civilian population, which Breivik did not.

And hey, where are all the regular bigots and islamophobes like syftesfel and the rest of the riff-raff with the hate and bile? Cat got their tongues?
15:08 July 27, 2011 by Rick Methven
"Go organic. Terrorists would have a hard time making a manure bomb. "

But a fully loaded manure spreader is a powerful weapon when used on intruders
15:15 July 27, 2011 by Streja
Of course the Swedish police have not said that attacks can't occur in Sweden. Some of you can't speak Swedish and that's why you don't know the facts.
07:08 July 28, 2011 by Da Goat
It is not the fertiliser it is the diesel that is the active ingredient make diesel illegal the fertiliser is just the oxidiser (supplies the oxygen to the diesel)
14:54 July 28, 2011 by Nemesis
Just thinking. Aluminium powder does not have any legitamate household uses.

Apart from being used to cure the surface coatings of gliders and a few other aeronautical uses, it is used in thermite and for increasing blast radius in explosions in daisy cutters.

In legitamate explosive uses aluminium powder has no use at all, as demolition or quarrying requires very highly localised explosions with wide area effects being undesireable. Aluminium powder would only be useful for a daisy cutter and not much else.

In the UK or Ireland if you try to purchase aluminium powder over the counter, you would find yourself in a police station within an hour or two being interviewed by police officers with no concept of political correctness in any capacity, for very good reason.

Why are the Swedish authorities allowing people to puchase aluminium powder without a license for legitimate use?
