And as we are in Europe the word is petrol not 'gas'.
Ah, those Britons who think they can tell everyone how to speak English ...
It's 'petrol', not gas in British English. But in continental Europe, they say 'gas", like the rest of the world.
The English are the best people to comment on the English language - certainly they are more qualified than unworldly 'septics' who have bastardised our beautiful language for far too long.
Now why don't you toddle off and start a website covering Sweden's news in American.
Do you honestly care more about the fact that someone used the word "gas" for petrol? Wow.
And don't we get enough "real" news as it is? You know, news reporting on the depths of human misery and depravity. The really uplifting and "important" stuff. There's nothing wrong with a little feel good human interest story once and a while. Nobody died. The kitten is okay. And I think that's just lovely. No apologies.
You may now begin heaping abuse on me.
:)
When people click on the headline to look at the story, they already show that they are interested in that topic, and I agree with StockholmSam that The Local and the advertizers who fund it know that too. If you do not like the topic, don't click, the paper is not written for only one or two people. It's for all kinds of readers. I like world news better but I don't complain.
People, come on. The kitten is cute and it survived. I'll take a story like this over the usual thefts, killings, and politicians calling each other idiots any day.
Front page news............
And as we are in Europe the word is petrol not 'gas'.
And as we are in a so-called English copycat "newspaper", we can call petrol, gas or whatever.

What kind of media is this?
Good question that has just one answer that we all are aware of… well, some are not.

Finally an article published that is of interest. We are dealing with far too much bad news. What a heart touching story!
If any medium published this type of stories more often, they would not sell a copy.

How did the kitten get in that position?
Because the kitten was laid there by The Local. Just watch the photo. The cute cat is trying to relax in a nice soft cushion or whatever.

And in Spanish it is called "gasolina" and so what. Are we discussing the fate of the little cat, or how to sell petrol, gas or "gasolina" Just wondering! Oh, but in English the word gasoline can be used.
@Farugia
The English are the best people to comment on the English language -
And they are also the best to teach how to be a pirate of the Caribbean.

Really? Maybe I'm a bit biased (check my username) but isn't anyone here at all happy that the poor kitten is okay
Of course, what worried me is that the poor kitten was a passenger of that woman.

Don't be such a moron, rude boy. The Local has NO TOP STORIES. It is not a real newspaper.
You just discovered the luke warm water and the hole for doughnuts.

I'd rather read a hundred stories like this rather than one story about a mad man killing kids.
Have a good trip to the country of Utopia.
Whether the little animal was on the gas or the petrol tank is of little consequence.
The little bugger obviously crawled up threre to get out of sight, and the person who heard the mewing did everything that she could to find the kitten. Both she and the mechanics are to be commended for their humanity towards this tiny creature.
It's always nice to read stories like this and it gives us a break from the usually depressing news. There should be more reporting of nice things in the news.
Something similar happened to a friends cat who was in the engine compartment for 50Km in -10C weather. He got out of the house and apparently tried to get warm but when she left for work the cat was in for a ride. The cat survived but doesn't sneak out of the house anymore.

And of course, the brave little kitten MUST be named "Mad Max", for the kitty is a true road warrior...
