Palestinians hopeful of Swedish UN vote

The new Palestinian ambassador to Sweden, Hala Husni Fariz, is hoping that Sweden will vote in favour of the Palestinian territories at least getting non-member permanent observer status in the General Assembly, the same as Vatican City, if the matter is brought up before the UN' next week.

Things are hectic for Hala Husni Fariz at the moment. It wasn't until last week that her status as general delegate was upgraded to the role of ambassador to Sweden by the Swedish government.
”It was proof that the Swedish support for our efforts in building up our own state and civil service,” said the ambassador.
The government, as well as foreign minister Carl Bildt, were slammed over the decision by the Liberals' and the Christian Democrats' spokespeople on foreign policy.
”It is regrettable that Carl Bildt has made this decision and it is unfortunate that it happens just at the time when the UN is set to discuss the recognition of the Palestinian state,” the Liberal's Fredrik Malm said to TT at the time.
It was feared among government parties that this upgrade precluded Sweden’s vote in the General Assembly discussion on the Palestinian territories.
“I am surprised that the decision for the change comes now when the issue is such a hot potato in the UN,” Desirée Pethrus of the Christian Democrats told TT lafter the news broke.
Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas has time and again explained that he will demand a full membership for the territories in the UN next week. But the United States has made it clear that such a demand will disrupt peace talks with Israel and that the US would veto it in the security council.
”I am only partly informed as to what he is going to do, and not at all in what order. But yesterday he said when meeting with EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton that we are going to the UN to get our member status and that there is no return,” Hala Husni Fariz told TT.
If the road to full member status turns out to be closed off due to a US veto, the Palestinians could demand the same status as the Vatican city in the UN.
The Vatican City is recognised as a sovereign state, but not a s a UN member. Currently, the Palestinian territories are viewed as a non-member entity.

Jordan is Palestine, it includes 78% of the British Mandate of Palestine that was to be a homeland for the Jews. This after the Arabs had various new countries, including Lebanon, Syria, Trans/Jordan etc.

I'm neither suggesting anything to Swedes nor advocate anything in Iran. According to wikileaks Palestinians Authorities wanted to give up nearly all their rights for current occupied territories and right of return for Palestinians but Israel rejected the deal. Neither of them have commented on this claim since it is equally disgraceful for both sides. It clearly shows that Israel looks for nothing short of totall annihilation of Palestinians. As a result it is a moral objective to recognise and support Palestinians and future of Jews since this path of Isreali government is unsustainable for the future of the Isreal.

You are in state of denial. You don't want to accept the fact that Isreali government rejected the peace deal with Palestinians despite Palestinians gave up eveything! Because you know that it will make Isreal nothing short of an apartheid state as South Africa and it doesn't suit your agenda!
Once Palestine is recognised as a soverign state, another state can legally declare war on them if they commit an act of agression. Firing thousands of rockets counts as an act of agression, which Israel could legally allow Israel to declare war. The Palestinian authotiry could also be brought to the International Criminal Court for for agression after 2017 when the rules of the ICC change.
The sooner there are two states the better. The problem is, there are so many lunatics on all sides trying to turn the place into a permanent war zone. Palestinians need to have a think about this and deal with the rocket firers, in case they backfires on palestine by there actions.

Israel offered the Palestinians a very good offer in Camp David in 2000 with the mediatore Pres. Bill Clinton, it included withdrown from most part of west Jordanland ,Gazza,and the muslem parts of est Jerusalem,
Arafat rejected it and opened the first Intifada against us,Clinton was angry with Arafat and told him that the Palestinians did twice mistakes in 1947 by rejecting the decision 181 on the division of Palestine in 2 states an Arab one and Jewish one, the second in 2000 rejecting Barack 's offer.
They got that decision from the UN allready on 29.11.47 with resolution 181 which decided the divion of Palestine in a Jewish and a Palestinian state-they rejected it.
Between 1948 and 1967 Gazza and West Jordan land were in arabs hand-why did not they build a Palestinian state then? [PLO came to world in 1956]
The answer is because the issue was not Palestinian state but eliminate Israel,then they attack us again in 1967 and lost these territories in war,and then came the demand for Palestinian state, how come it did not bother them between 1948 and 1967,there was enough time for them to build a Palestinian state inside 1967 borders.

Kevin, First of all Egypt was not a friend. since Israel gave up all of the Sinai, for a scrap of paper, there has been a cold peace only, manipulated by the Egyptians. Mubarrak made sure of that. Turkiye is now ruled by an Islamist that has caused the relations to sour between israel and Turkiye (correct spelling). The present turkish leader has imprisoned the remainder of the Armed Forces High Command that did not resign. The turkish military has really ruled the country since Ataturk, to try and keep the country fairly secular. Sadly, Turiye has now become Islamist and what you have today is the result of that. Nothing more and nothing less.
Israel has very good relations with many countries including Greece, Cyprus in the neighbourhood, Canada, Australia, many other countries in the expanding industrialised countries further east. and most important.
