The Sweden Democrats have reacted in anger to the participation of a rabbi and an imam at the church service which is the traditional start of the customary pomp and ceremony before the opening of the Riksdag.

" I have recently become addicted to a website called Stockholms Källan. The site is an amazing treasure trove of historical images of Stockholm. You can search by names or locations to find old photos and documents relating to whatever you’re interested in. This image is from a 1960’s short film called “Ditt Stockholm” (“Your Stockholm”). ...Like "Love Thy Neighbour"...which I'm sure mr Åkesson follows faithfully...
Oh, and the original Swedish religion was "Asatru" I think....
Åkesson is just trying to distract from the message Dean Åke Bonnier is trying to communicate.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindu-Arabic_numeral_system
Can't your cake and eat it too : )
And last, this topic is just hilarious being that 95% of the swedes are atheist. So I really don't understand the arguement. I have yet to meet a swede that will identity themselves as a christian or any other faith for that matter.
George Washington
Most normal DEMOCRACIES, in fact.
On a side note:
"First they came for the......" You all know the quote.
What happened, I thought they only hate Muslims. OR????
"Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion."
Proverbs 11:22
Then christianity arrived and made everything significantly worse by adding faith and imperialism to the mixture, leading Sweden invading everyone it could safely reach, burning cities with most of there population in them in Poland, Slovakia, Czech republic, Germany, Denmark, estonia, Lithunania, Finland, Latvia, Norway, Belorussia, Russia and Ukraine on occassion. That was until Sweden was defeated in the Napoleonic wars.
In plain language, Sweden was founded in the same manner as the majority of other contries in Europe.
Jimmie Åkesson really needs to buy a history book and actually read it. That is, assuming he can actually read. I wonder if Swedish History for complete and utter imbecilies has been written, whihc would suit him nicely.
If, as stated, multi-faith services have been held in previous years, why is it such a big deal for Jimmie Åkesson now?
Heck you should be thrilled that they attend the Swedish Riksdag Service. If they are observing Swedish holidays, then Swedes can observe theirs! WOW! We know how much Swedish people love their holidays and they are always trying to figure out how to get a holiday Monday to start on Thursday night instead of Friday night . Heck trying to extend a fifteen minute Fika into a half hour, hour breaks into hour and a half breaks, quitting time to start 1 hour early, and findinf other ways to take a holiday is a Swedish fine art. But it takes so much THOUGHT. This is perfect!
Now you can ask for time off when their are the Jewish holidays:
Shavuot
NO WORK is permitted Sunset of June 7 through nightfall of June 9 YAY!!!!!!
Sukkot Oct 12th (nightfall)-19th
NO WORK permitted on Oct. 13-15.............YAY!
Shemini Atzeret Oct 19th (sunset)- Oct. 20th (nightfall)
NO WORK permitted.................YAY again!
or the Islamic holidays:
Aug 30th- Eid al-Fitr (End of Ramadan)
NO WORK...YAY!
Nov 6th- Eid al-Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice)
NO WORK.. YAY!!!!!
Nov 26th- Al-Hijra (Islamic New Year)
NO WORK again...YAY!!!
Mr Åkesson, I have dealt with Swedish people enough to understand that this is a golden opportunity for them to get extra time off work because, as lovely as Swedes are, work is not their strong point. Now if you could just get the Buddist and the Hindi to come, you may be able to figure out how you barely have to work at all and still get paid for it! That should really appeal to a lot the Swedish workers.
You should be thanking the Muslim Iman and the Jewish Rabbi. Heck, this could just be the pot of gold for the Swedes to find a way to get days off, and they won't have to waste any energy on thought!
And I hope they thoroughly search him before he enters the building as some of these religious nutters sometimes tend to explode when surrounded by kuffar.
LOL,
nicely thought and said!
You are right about Åkesson. He would have a Kristallnacht, if he thought he would get away with it.
I have worked with Polish people in Ireland and Sweden. I am Scots-Irish.
I would prefer to have a polish work colleague I can rely on in work, than the average Swede.
Also Polish are a lot more fun to socialise with. If I buy a Pole a beer, they buy one back. Swedes don't normally buy a round of beer, if someone buys them a beer. Polish also have better barbeques and bring good Tatra beer:)
Also, it is well known - there is a lot of antisemitismn in Poland. And a lot of hardcore nationalists, revisionists, Nazis. Being a Jew or a Gypsi is not helpful, too.
that s what we must avoid
Nice words. Its not about morals or ethics or right and wrong, its about protecting ones own. I realize that a majority of the posters on thelocal do not want us swedes to exist. This is why they are such fervent supporters of massive immigration. It is natural, what are we to them?
they have 7 or 8 childs a couple
we 1 or 2
that means in 20 years they will outnumber us 4 to one
who will be in charge by then ?
not us of course
it seems you touched a Nazi nerve that Tysknaden is having a hard time keeping it unseen ;)
But: SD is not Sweden. It is only a political party. SD does not accept my existence in this country, although I am willing and able to become assimilated, and I am living of my own money. I came by my own free will, because I love Sweden. But SD proselytes did insult me and tried to start mobbing. I will never forgive this. They should focus their ideas of deportation on criminals, parasites and people, who refuse assimilation. I personally met many immigrants, who are not like those hatebombs, who litter The Local's forum. And, by the way: SD people have a tendency to mingle refugees and migrants. It is not the same!
Yes there are those posters who really hates Sweden and Swedes. And at the same time are having the courage to demand respect from Swedes! I can only pity those posters, seeing that they really must hate their lives because of the fact that they ended up here.
"SD is not Sweden. It is only a political party. SD does not accept my existence in this country, although I am willing and able to become assimilated, and I am living of my own money."
You are totally ignorant of SD policies. Totally. SD have the idea of "open swedishness", ie, anyone can become a swede if they assimilate. When it comes to nationalism SD are beggars. It is probably the mildest nationalist party in all of europe.
Anyway, all other parties support this massive immigraion that already have killed sweden as a nation. They never sought a popular mandate for this policy, they and the journalists just did it on the sly while pumping out a solid walll of propaganda. You see, the politicians and the journalists were in agreement that sweden should seice to exist as a nation. So thhere was no need to ask the people.
Last election they changed the swedish constitution without even one word being said in the media and declared that sweden is no longer a nation but a multicultural society. For example, a foreigner can now become a government minister.
SD is the one party that is not actively working to destroy the swedes as a people. But in truth, it is pointless. 80 % of the population cannot assimilate 20 %, especially since a majority of the 80% are above 40 years old.
Don't buy this BS about SD from @jostein.
He is just a SD agent posing as a native Swede.
A brainwashed fool.
Oh yeah, 95% of native Swedes and journalists hate Sweden. Only the 5% of SD and their members are TRUE Swedes who love their country.
Heard this one before. Guess from who? (hint: 3rd R... Germany)
Are you afraid of democracy, free speech and different opinions?
See different in europeans news aggencies :
Imans can say whatever they wish, even the hate speaches, even more the call for murders and it is just kind of local colorits of islam, we must not take it as all embracing meaning of what is islam all about, we even are not allowed to judge it from our point of view " to do not offend all the muslims feeliing" .
Very strange isn´t it |?
Now some smart alec is going to tell us that ecumenism is meant to be representative of the social-political-religious-cultural structure of Moder Svea, or Moder Svea in parliament - and then the question is what about the Hindus, the Buddhists, the holy Shamans and Seers of the Sami people, not to mention the overwhelming majority of the atheists and some of the Marxists and Satanists among us? Should they also be subjected to the indignity of having to put up with a select holy hypocrisy of a ceremonial farce - if they really don't believe in anything but themselves?
"It is Christianity and its values that form the basis on which our society rests, although this seems to be difficult for many to accept," says Åkesson, this too is sadly true.
Swedish Church members 'don't believe in Jesus' :

The truth will cause panic in the streets and cause the current voters to rethink come next election year.
As far as the broadcasted statement on the radio station...
It's more than likely a call to ALL those insurgents to act now, it's what these cell groups have been waiting for, and the other way is that the Scandinavians have no excuse to dismiss 'their' intentions of living in Sverige.
I have no doubts that's there may be a good reason that I have seen at least 10 Gripen air-fighters in a row 'Screaming' over Sweden this morning in patrol, either that or there's an air show in the area, but I don't think so.
The reason comments are stopped on some stories is because they attract idiots like you two who just make crap inflammatory posts, that is all your pea brains can think of
http://www.thelocal.se/blogs/corneliushamelberg/2011/09/16/a-short-note-re-jimmie-akesson-unhappy-with-the-ecumenical-state-opening-of-parliament/
Go to their home page and read their documents? As any official representative. Talk to people?
@cowboykodp
No, i left SD. I cannot support their policy of an open swedeishness. If you ask me you can become a swede by marrying a swede or by adoption. Thats what it feels like to me and id feel like a hypocrit if i said anything else. According to SD im an extremist and they want nothing to do with my perspective.
Criticism of radical Islam and the non-white right wing nuts are not.
Pretty much sums up the situation Sweden.
Good work on creating the perfect analogy with your censorship The Local.
In Norway that's a word we associate with terrorist Anders Behring Breivik and his followers. So don't utter it if you ever come to Norway. Even blonde, blue-eyed Norwegians will take it as a personal insult.
I think that is a bit unfair. thelocal is quite liberal in their moderation of the comment-fields. Just keep it civil and you are normally ok. If they are extra sensitive about anti-muslim statements then that is understandable, after all this site can be read all over the world.
So double standards and the media deciding what opinions are permissible sounds like an open democracy to you? Sounds like extremism of another sort to me.
I guess the murderers of Theo Van Gogh and last week's would be murderers of Lars Vilks have done their job well then.
This is the objective of terrorism.
I wrote it earlier today and have the chance to post it now, so I will do it, although you withdrew your criticism of SD. I think it is important for everybody to know about SD.
SD is offering many ideas that are supported by immigrants. Not imigrants from Poland or Germany, but actually the "problematic" ones.
For one, they presented a "groundbreaking" idea of instead of investing huge amounts of money on bringing muslims into this country in 100 ton containers and then wonder how come they are not assimilating, but burning cars, stabbing swedes and beating Jewish 90y/o on the street, whilst whining about racism, why not invest this money into the immigrants that already live here?
Throw it into economic expansion of the ghettos here, as well as tighten the language requirements on the poor little immigrants and all of a sudden the innocent victims will start passing SFI earlier than after 5 years. All of a sudden, the "youth" will find jobs within their own community. All of a sudden, they will start paying taxes. Why not?
Or for example, they propose to start bringing skilled immigration, instead of the mmm (how to say it in PC form?) the "lower opportunity" representatives whose happiest day in life is selling their daughter to the highest bidder (if you do not consider the day their son became a shahid even a better day). Let the immigration policy require a plan for the immigrant and follow up on that plan. Why not? Canada does it. Australia does it. Japan too.
They are not as bad as our open-minded and peace loving muslim opponents try to represent (again, without any actual proof, but based on what their imam told them right between the "Jews are guilty in all our failures" and "Why women should be beaten only with hands" speeches).
@Uncle: I fully understand now. In Sweden the right of free speech is limited to those, who want to abolish it - and to their brainwashed tools.
Apparently encouraging killing of ANY group of people by prominent cleric is so noble as it deserves a journalist report, but criticizing it may be considered inflammatory.
How typical.
btw, I just read a sort of a satiric observation:
"Yesterday, in protest against burning of one copy of the Koran in USA, as well as against generalizing accusations against Islam of terrorism, barbarism and violent extremism, hundreds of thousands of peaceful demonstrators in the muslim world burned 7650 U.S. flags, 3532 Obama's portraits, 427 stuffed Uncle Sams, 3 U.S. and 5 other countries embassies and 19 people alive."
Tragic, but true.
I just came from a stateside forum; same thing.
A UK forum; same thing. Idiocy is universal and totally rampant.
When in Saudi the Brits told me the Two Buckets policy all who come there to work must have. Ask a Brit, he'll tell it to you.
In the meanwhile, I've never met a Brit anywhere than that he/she complained about the Locals. I guess that's why they assumed the white man's burden; to change the world to liken them and for the colonies' good, of course.
Just face it, the country is as it is. Learn to love it, even the misery of winters-----and a few other things I won't mention.
In summary, narrow-mindedness is the worst I know, but since so many are, you have to grin and look for the exceptions.
(No, I am not in this situation. I love Sweden and like the Swedes. Sweden is my home.)
No you are right. Let's not write about imams who encourage murder and not SD who wants to stop these people from coming here and living on taxes with their 12 futurless children.
Let's not discuss at all anything connected to muslims (except when they are fail to exterminate a nation and start telling everyone how oppressed they are like in the case of threads about Israel)
Let's write how racist swedes are since they don't want to hire whatever comes here in top positions directly from the airplane and obviously do not bring enough refugees, who clearly make everyone's life much better.
That is a good idea.
But that's okay. The Swedes will become a minority soon - and then they can do what the want without any fear of opposition.
Neeeh, Tysknaden... THEN it will be "encouraging towards extremism against the official majority of muslim population" for which there is a prison sentence. You don't really think that THEY have the same understanding of what democracy and freedom of speech means, do you?
The Swedish flag clearly represents Christianity.
Since xenophobia, anti-Semitism and islamophobia are problems in Sweden, we are to suppose that the ecumenical service with a Christian Bishop, a Jewish Rabbi and a Muslim Imam is calculated to reflect the harmony and trust that exists among the various religious trends within the realm or at least to show that Judaism and Islam in particular is not an enemy religion, especially considering that Islam is so often closely associated with the problem of world-wide Islamic terrorism - not least of all here in Sweden.
So the ecumenical service is a confidence-building measure and another attempt to show tolerance not only for multiculturalism but also for the diversity of peoples' faiths, in the new Sweden.
Considering it's aims, shouldn't such a bold, innovative step be applauded ? At least through the ecumenical service those represented ( Christianity, Judaism and Islam) do not feel left out, although perhaps some other religious branches/ denominations/ sects could be wondering, "What about us?"
It so happens that the ecumenical service at the state opening of Parliament is one way that the authorities have chosen to manifest diversity and tolerance.
In the United Kingdom, where there is an even greater diversity of people, cultures and faiths, than what we have in Sweden, the ceremonial state opening of Parliament is a several hundred years old tradition (back to the sixteenth century) and the (Anglican)Church of England's Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral do not figure in the ancient tradition of pomp and ceremony - and all that pageantry, nor does the ecumenical movement:
The State opening of Parliament in the UK
There is this significant modernisation that has taken place though: Prince Charles who will be the future King of England and head of the Church of England is no longer " Defender of the Faith", but recognising the diversity within the realm, Prince Charles is to be known as "Defender of Faith"
@Cornelus Hamelberg: Islam is not an enemy religion - thats for sure :-D
Live and let live. The motto is: Friend of all, enemy of none.
If you are friend to al-Islam, al-Islam will be a friend to you.
Here's some friendly fire:
Once upon a time it wasn't but now it is. According to Imam Othman Al Tawalbeh. "Ramadan is part of Swedish culture and we want to tell everybody about it" ….
http://www.google.com/search?q=imam+Othman+Al+Tawalbeh&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:sv-SE:official&client=firefox-a&hl=en
I do agree with a lot of the posters who I usually disgree with on this one. Why is it ok for this iman to voice such horrific, violent hate propoganda and have it be open to public scutiny, if it is not ok for others to post a reaction to it? Of course, I have not read the deleted posts, so I can only hypothesise. But unless they were inciting violence (and the imans did not?hmmm) they should be allowed to stand.
The sad thing is that those muslim immigrants who DO want to fit in here, adjust, evolve, integrate are having their lives threatened and there is no one who is protecting them. The islamic extremists won't , they will follow the murderous words of the imans such as this one. Also, the vast majority of Swedes won't as they see all muslims as the same. It is a terrible position to be in. Which ever way those people turn, they can not win.
Oh, yeah, I am sure that 1 million dead in Iraq that mostly exploded in markets and restaurants were enemies of Al-Islam. I am sure that everyone in the Twin Towers was also an enemy of this peaceloving religion. I am sure that thousands of dead Kurds and muslims in Darfur were bitter enemies of islam...
The theory of "be friend of everyone" does not apply for those who WANT to be your enemy because you do not believe in whatever they do. Or you DO believe, but not in the correct sort of whatever you believe in.
Haha, you wish :D You have no idea how I live. I really enjoy living in Sweden due to the respects I recieve from all Swedes!
Quite a few Swedish women and men have converted to Islam. So did Roger Garaudy...
The Muslim Establishment Worldwide has some difficulty with endorsing Article 18 of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This is because Muslims believe that the word of Allah cannot be abrogated by the United Nations.
In Sweden at least, I should think that there's also a slight difference in how the Sharia Law might be applied to someone who is born Muslim ( to Muslim parents) and to someone else who might repeat the Shadada by which a person becomes a Muslim and then five minutes later return to his beloved Christianity...
Article 18.
Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.
Apostasy in Islam:
http://www.google.com/search?sclient=psy-ab&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:sv-SE:official&source=hp&q=Apostasy+in+Islam&pbx=1&oq=Apostasy+in+Islam&aq=f&aqi=g1&gs_upl=301693l307331l0l307761l17l17l0l6l6l0l136l805l9.2l11l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1272&bih=849
Converting from Islam seems to guarantee that an apostate who seeks asylum in Sweden is not sent back to e.g. The Islamic Republic of Iran.
No you are right. Let's not write about imams who encourage murder and not SD who wants to stop these people from coming here and living on taxes with their 12 futurless children.
UNQUOTE
plus much more babble.
I got news for you cranks and bigots, the immigrants are taking over, and thank god for that. They have a cultural heritage that far exceeds the Swedish in diversity and age.
In India, there are 17 official national languages, in Syria there are three----and four religions. My heart center in Stockholm is owned and staffed by 20 Iranian doctors. My pharmacy on Ringvägen Södermalm has on a typical day 5 of 8 employees from immigrant families. My moroccan friend's oldest daughter is soon a registered nurse. Believe me the ones I know are working and working well too.
As for the fears of becoming a minority, that is to be feared if you wish. My friends back in NC USA are worried because they have become a minority, with a black majority in most urban areas.
But I look to other countries and see diversity and also discord.
No one regrets the horrors of Iraq or of Lebanon as I do, but I look for the real causes; not the information warfare and demagoguery which is conceals them.
Do they bottom in cultural and religious differences? I doubt it, instead it is a question of power and wealth sharing.
It is driven by oil, oil, oil.....and resource paucity in the ME otherwise----plus water of course.
We unfortunaltely embrace the illusion that we are all unique; and want to hold on to all proofs of that. We are in fact all prototypes; who after 10 generations will exist as one thousandth of the genes of a direct descendant.
So, search for commonality. Which in fact the muslims have come much closer to than we Christians ever will.
To them they are all brothers, and it can be seen daily in their relationships.
Homozygotism is not healthy, nor its cultural counterpart in a nation.
I guess rwanda and bosnia and turkey was oil too?
Furthermore, dont you think the people should have been consulted before my nation was turned into afghanistan? People like you are driven by hatered against white people, that is your one motivation.
