Ann-Britt Granström, 57, of Södertälje, south of Stockholm, had just curled up in bed next to her cat, her beloved bedfellow for the last 13 years, when the cuddly companion suddenly jumped down from the bed and started attacking her.

But why call the police? Even so, they could have been a little more sympathetic.

Well chosen pic btw.
Animal rights activists on vacation?
All responsible cat owners know that they sometimes can spaz out (vaccum, new people, a strange noise, brain ghosts etc. )and if you leave them alone for a bit they're fine. If they aren't okay after a while or if it's out of character for them, they need medical attention.
My guess is that she probably moved her arm weird and the cat thought that she was playing or something, many cats will hop under the cover to go after toes, arms etc. As a cat owner you need to be aware of and okay with the occasional scratch or nibble. If that's not what happened, there was probably something wrong with the poor thing.
Either way, she seriously overreacted by calling the police for some scratches and then having neighbors come over and murder the poor cat. It's sad.
Regarding the kind and loving dog comment... many years ago I had a corgy attack one of my stepsons friends, presumably unprovoked... he went right for the face. I was all for euthanasia, but the rest of the family wouldn't hear of it. The little dog lived out his remaining years in harmony with the world.
This story is just weird...
It is a cat, not a fighter dog, it can't kill you! She should just have given the cat soe time in another room to call down. She was playing probably, got too far.
have any expierience of this situation, but I have.
We had a cat 10 years ago and one night ,I was playing with my 18 mth old baby boy,It was about 10 pm ,My mum and dad were over here for 2 wks.Anyhow all of a sudden our cat ran over and attacked my little boy .,the cat was trying to claw out his eyes and biting him on the chin,my father had to literally rip the cat off his face and chin.We were lucky that the cat did not claw hes eyes out. There was lots of blood and the attack was so ferocious ,that it felt like a murderer had come in my house and tried to kill my son.It was like the cat was pocessed with evil or something.I was so enraged and shaken with freight, that I went after this damn killer cat and strangled it to death.
Was I going to give the cat,the benefit of the doubt , was i,or take a chance with my sons life some other time,or give the cat
to another home ,and risk it happening again to some one else.So to all you Kat lovers out there, dont make comments, based on,that you think it is cruel to have killed the animal.
To the Woman ,I know how you feel, and the
right actionss were taken.
she should have not panicked and grabbed the cat by the scruff and threw it out the window (does not matter which floor you are on) then sorted out her wounds.
The cat would have got a fright and the message (not good behaviour) and would have meekly returned home again when it was stabled out again. (and hungry)
Sounds more like 5 brain dead swedes, overreacting bunch of blood thirsty idiots.
I bet it would only take a few minutes on the phone to a vetinarian to find out who to call in such a case, but that would cost money of course, makes more sense to kill it with a knive...
normally I just get bitten and scratched but "gentle persuasion" works also!
as the others have said if she had just left it be it would probably have settled down again .... if not call your local hunter ! Cats and women have the occasional brain snap whereupon you leave them be for a while (judging this time is the tricky bit)
better still open the door and release a terrier dog that will teach it a lesson LOL
1st. I am not a cat hater, I just dont like them as pet, i like dog's... and i love animals... and cat are not pets...they are cat..like thier other's in their species.. leopard/tiger...
So no matter how much we may try, someday they will show their true color.. this is based on common intelligence to all(except you)..
2nd, who the hell are you to tell me to do something.... or are you like a cat..though you live in a civilized society you act like someone who does not care for other's...
by the way , the polis are there to protect human life, not just bullen
An adult couldn't even deal with a cat, and need the help of the police, how spectacular the evolution of human race. Why not give the cat a lethal kick? If you think your life is being threatened.
about safe guarding the cat and lertting it calm down, what a load of toffee.Did anyone take in my story ,and how serious it can become. If the cat has turned ,it should never be forgiven, just because it looks so cuddly and cute.Do like I had to do kill the damn thing. After all there is another 10 billion of the damn things in the world.
And no, Im not a cat hater,I have another cat now, years later ,after my terrible freightning expierience.with my baby boy.
I have a right to comment on here more than all of you because ,I went through what this woman went through, with my son,not to mention the terrible injections and medicine he had to endure.Cas have so much horrible poisonous toxins in there saliva.the treatment is horrible, specially for a 18month child.I rest my case.
My girlfriend's grandmother had some trouble with a huge iguana that suddenly appeared in her living room. After she rang the emergency number it took less than an hour for the special unit of the local police to get there and take care of the animal.
A cat is a small feline and, whether this story is true or not, dealing with an irate animal should always be the duty of an expert. I suffer from cynophobia so I wouldn't be able to deal even with a docile puppy. I can understand this woman's fear.
You should contact the authorities immediately.
