Reverend Jesse Jackson called for global unity in a speech in Lund on Wednesday night, telling students “it is in your interest to fight for multiculturalism,” in a visit prompted by the slave auction controversy in April.

A disappointed Swede who attended one of Reverend Jesse Jackson's seminars in Lund this week said "I really thought Jesse Jackson would be better than this. He hasn't attacked the Jews, said he is "sick and tired of hearing about the Holocaust", called anyone a n*****, threatened to cut the nuts off the president of the United States, or called the Prime Minister of Israel a terrorist. He's just not very good."
Delegates hope the Reverend Jesse Jackson will get better soon. The Reverend Jesse Jackson is in southern Sweden on a mission to bring about his version of global unity and racial harmony to Sweden. Very few Jews attended the Reverend's lectures, partly because of his decidedly racially inharmonious anti-semitic remarks, and partly because the Simon Wiesenthal Center advises Jews to stay away from southern Sweden anyway.
Wouldn't you?
As so many others have so often said, multiculturalism is often interpreted as doublespeak for Sharia law. When you, Reverend Jackson, speak of multiculturalism, should we therefore understand that you have come to Sweden to campaign for Sharia law?
The concept of race should not be confused with culture, as the two are not inseparably seamed. So, if you want to promote love-thy-neighbor among people who perceive variation of physical features as deviant, then talk about racism and sexism.
But Reverend, please do not confuse this as the struggle between proponents of secular law, which emphasizes equality among all humans, and proponents of religiously-based law, which enforces social hierarchy based on genitalia and adherence to one belief system, etc.
"Hymie Town"
Racist? Him? You bet!
you need multiculturalism like you need a hole in the head
multi-ethnic maybe, but for sure, one and only one culture
Sweden has seen peace and relative prosperity for hundreds of years. Very unlike most if not all other parts of the world and has developed a culture based on this.
A culture founded in peace, prosperity, education, secularism and empathy will be superior (yes, Superior!) to a culture founded in war, strife, oppression, superstition and jealousy...
Shame on the sorry posters here.
What's happened is the same thing as why the 'slave auction' was held in the first place, and why a party (the Sverigedemokraterna) with neo-Nazi roots is in the Riksdag. As in a prior period in the early 1990s when economic problems existed here, and when a group called 'New Democracy' made it to the Parliament on a platform similar to the Sweden Democrats, a tide of xenophobia and racism washed over the country. This culminated in things like the so-called 'Laser Man' (Lasermannen) who went around randomly shooting immigrants. Of course, about a year ago a fellow was caught doing the same thing in Malmö.
The arrogant, racist 'edge' on things here is all too real, but it's perhaps better seen as 'xenophobia' because such conduct often extends to any of foreign origins, whites included.
Having said this, I do agree with Jesse Jackson -- Swedes are better than this. In my opinion, the greatest tragedy is the way xenophobia has been fanned here to provide a scapegoat for the real pain many Swedes are feeling due to the societal service cuts brought on by neoliberal 'reform', the huge tax cuts and corporate welfare that's part of it. But, it's easier to have a scapegoat than address difficult internal problems...and, by focusing on the scapegoat and scapegoating, nobody is examining the 'reforms' as the real cause of ongoing societal pain.
On every level, a tragedy...especially for this land that once really was the 'closest place on earth to heaven'.
I must add for all the Sverige Democrats and their sympathizers here, I have no wish to waste my time debating this comment with any of you...so, end of conversation - punkt slut.
You are right. Many Swede's attitude to immigration into Sweden has indeed changed these past few years. Particularly among Swedes who live in the major cities where crime, violence, intimidation, rape, gang warfare, burning cars, and even bombs are now prevelant.
What do you think might have been the catalyst for Swede's change in attitude towards immigration as their cities also changed from the once pleasant place Kid Rasta enjoyed 25 years ago, into the place it is now? (Socialist dogma about evil corporations exluded - Not Dumb - we don't need any more of that nonsense thank you).
Really Mr Jackson? And why is that? Who the friggin hell are you to tell me or anyone else what is in our interest and what is not?
As far as I am concerned you are just another failed globalist shill who is trying to
push the failed concept of multiculturalism so why don`t you go back preaching the gospel in some god foresaken church in Bronx where your place is and leave this country at once.
The postscriptum speech filter is a little too English for me. By that I mean its stand with regard to plain english denotations for excrement reminds me of our english secretary's views on and abhorration of references to bodily functions in the 1970's.
And if you're smart, change it so it rings a bell so writers can change wordst to suit your cultural thresholds.
And to repeat the central message of my comment:
Why does there appear to be such a concentration of xenophobia at the Local?
Surely not the quality of the editorial material.
But once the flies are here they perhaps are attracting others.
Like buzzards in the African sky.
