Knock those off and you're a 1/4 the way there!
When you lose or when you win?
If you win the government gets taxes from you.
When you lose the government gets your wager money.

I admit that I have a low tolerance to even carnival games... anything where persons can be lured into thinking that their skill will give them a significant advantage over the house... when most of us know the only sure winner IS the HOUSE.
Perhaps treatment programs could be tied into the collections process for persons with a "losing" problem.
Like almost all Swedish myndigheter, they have an irrepressible desire to expand. The more people they can designate sick or deviant, the more money and time they can waste on devising cures and solutions. If nobody stops them, soon 100% of the population will officially be diagnosed with some disorder or anomaly that requires intervention or treatment. This being Sweden, there is of course not a single person in the country capable of taking care of himself. The nanny state has to help all these poor people suck their thumbs and hug their security blankets..
I recently published a second book, Switching Addictions, describing additional issues that confront the recovering addict. If a person who has an addictive personality, doesn't admit to at least two addictions, he's not being honest. These are two books you might consider adding to your library. I also publish a free online newsletter, Women Helping Women, which has been on-line for more than ten years and is read by hundreds of women (and men) from around the world. (www.femalegamblers.info). I have been interviewed many times, and appeared on the 60 Minutes show in January 2011, which was moderated by Leslie Stahl.
Sincerely,
Marilyn Lancelot
