Teen uses 'Zlatan' move to swipe cop's iPhone

A Spanish teenager was recently charged with theft after being caught with a stolen mobile iPhone, pick-pocketed from a Swedish police officer while showing off a Zlatan Ibrahimovic football move.

The police officer was on an undercover patrol when he encountered the 19-year-old, who was hanging around with two other friends, in the central parts of Malmö, the local Skånska Dagbladet newspaper reported.

The teenager approached the officer, said he was in the country on holiday, shook the officer's hand and introduced himself.

Then the subject of conversation turned to football in general, and Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Barcelona in particular.

At one point in the conversation, the 19-year-old took hold of the officer to demonstrate to him how Zlatan kicks his opponents in the shins.

Soon after the teenager bid the officer a good evening and they parted ways.

A short while later the officer reached for his iPhone, only to realize that it was no longer in his pocket.

It dawned on the officer that the teenager must have pocketed the phone when showing off his footballing moves.

He contacted a colleague and together they activated the iPhone's tracking function.

Several patrol cars moved towards where the three teenagers had been tracked down.

Despite the crafty teens having changed outfits, the officer had no problems identifying the Zlatan-fan.

The iPhone was later found in the pocket of one of his companions.

The teenager has since been charged with aggravated theft and the officer has also filed a second suit for the insult.

Despite being caught with the phone, the teenager has denied all allegations.

This is a common pick-pockets move from Spain. After working for a while in Barcelona a few years back, we'd see this happening on several occasions; a teen would cleverly challenge the mark to a game of football, and pick your pockets in the meantime... Classic! I warned all my clients, but some would never learn. Pretty humorous actually!

So Spanish kids are moving to Sweden to pickpocket? Is the market in Spain such that there are only empty pockets left or is it just easier here? Wonder how many others this kid got before he chose the wrong undercover cop?

Hi:

Iam spanish citizen,i have my permanent address in Madrid.I own a house in the north of sweden. Please,be accurate. Most of pickpockets in spain come from Rumania(eastern europe) and southamerica.I have never seen pickpockets from spain in Madrid.

So please be honest.we are really scared about this kind of people, and government allows them to enter our country, so please go away (not to sweden,of course)

Moral of the story: If you spend more than one second in the company of a male with a complexion darker than peach; check your pockets.

Javier, my apologies. My time in Spain was fantastic and I found the Spanish to be wonderful people in general. I cannot comment as to the ethnicity of the pickpockets, and you may well be right. All I know is that there was an awful lot of pickpocketing going on. Personally, I had my wallet on a chain, and got in my fair share of "discussions" with people holding onto my wallet, chained to my belt!

lol @ javier - it's not us, it's the foreigners! Like the Romanians saying (re: their gypsies) they're not us, they're from India or Eastern Europe! Pathetic.
