Charges 'imminent' for Swedish terror suspects

Danish prosecutor Helene Schröder said on Monday that charges will soon be filed against the four men from Sweden suspected of planning a terrorist attack against Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten in Copenhagen in December 2010.

”I think that charges could be filed in December or January,” Schröder told news agency TT.

Three of the men, Munir Awad, Omar Abdalla and Mounir Dhahri were arrested in Copenhagen on December 29th last year.

The men were based in Sweden and had travelled over to Denmark by car the night therefore they were arrested in Copenhagen.

A fourth, Sahbi Zalouti, was later apprehended by police in Sweden. He was subsequently extradited to Denmark.

The four men are under suspicion for preparing what Danish officials called a plan to "kill as many people as possible" in an assault on the Copenhagen offices of the Jyllands-Posten daily.

Jyllands-Posten published a dozen cartoons in 2005 of the Prophet Muhammad that triggered violent and sometimes deadly protests around the world.

It has since been the target of many foiled attacks.

According to Schröder, the matter must first pass through the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (Rigsadvokaten), the special international crimes office (Statsadvokaten) and the Danish ministry for justice (Justitsdepatementet).

Therefore she is still unable to say exactly when charges will be filed.

”I don't know how long it will take for it to pass through the system,” she said.

But even after charges have been filed, there may be some time before the actual trial can be held, according to Schröder.

”Maybe in April, May or even June. There are many defence lawyers involved and the date has to suit them all,” she said to TT.

So this where the producers of the excellent danish TV drama THe Killing2 found their ideas.

Of course, Moslems cannot accept ridicule or criticism of mohammed. But it is okay for them to say that Jews are descended from monkeys and pigs.. I have asked if this includes the very first Jews such as Avraham and Moses? Xexon, Iraniboy and others, any comments on this at all? I look forward to your response.

I should think so

Brought to you by the "religion of peace".

Right, so these four Jews thought they could blow up a building for publishing material they thought was critical of Judaism, and spread massive death and destruction across Denmark. What's that ...? They're Muslims!?! Well that doesn't make any sense ... Since when have Muslim blown anything up? I mean the history of Jewish suicide bombings spurred by religious teachings is very well established. What ...? You mean there hasn't been a single Jewish suicide bomber in the history of ever! Well, now I just don't know what to think ...

I can only echo the thoughts expressed here.

Islam demands tolerance and respect but is only happy to kill quite openly and implore the killing of ex-Muslims. The imam on Radio Sweden is only one example.

There are many Muslims who are grateful for the freedom they have in Sweden and this is something we cannot forget.

Asylum seekers come to Sweden because of what it was - maybe not what is it becoming now.

Continue to practice "diversity" and "multiculturalism" at your peril.

The muslims don't care how nice you are. They wish to kill you.

@ Chickybee "Islam demands tolerance and respect" HA! did you not read the article mabe you should read the other article on here about the muslim who blew himself up right here in Sweden trying to kill innocent people.

Got to love this multicultural thing every one is doing.

These men didn't actually do anything, no one was harmed. Hopefully they have learned a lesson from this and have changed and can now move forward and be good citizens in society.

One of the principal aims of Islamic terrorism is to spread fear and mistrust of Islam, and create divisiveness between religions, to help them bring about their evil aims.

Congratulations Motti, Godnatt, Blursd, Chickybee, 45 auto and Nathan 45 who seem more than happy to help terrorists. Good job guys. Terrorists everywhere will sleep better knowing they can rely on people like you to make terrorism really worthwhile.

@ robinhood

Maybe if we just appease them they'll stop trying to kill us. Great insight.

While we're at it why don't we ban free speech, put our daughters in headscarves and kill homosexuals just to be safe to show our solidarity with them.

They should've put the "scare quotes" on Swedish instead of imminent in the headline.
