So who is the law protecting? He'll have a smile on his face for many months... except for having legal intrusion into his private life. The law is an ass, and is protecting no-one.
Until we know what their relationship was, we won't understand why she is being held, but we can assume that because she is being held that the two of them must have one of those questionable associations such as teacher-student. But if not, this is a ridiculous non-issue. Most 16-year-old boys I know would never say no to the opportunity.
Unbelievable!

As for the woman, extremely unwise to fall for a 16 year old, but it shouldn't be illegal. True love occassionaly crosses the divide. A middle aged Oliver Reed horrified his friends by falling for a 16 year old girl. He married her, and lived with her in happiness for years until his death. As the old folks say, you never can tell!
Now, as a man i feel differently about female teacher, male student, it doesnt feel as wrong, somehow. However, can the law really discriminate like that?
So you would be fine if a youth club leader or sports coach was grooming and having sex with your 15 year old daughter??
I think that the law is entirely reasonable demanding a higher age of consent of 18 where the adult is in a position of responsibility over a child
We have no idea either how long the relationship has been going on - the Courts have found the case to be serious as the woman has been remanded in custody!
What if a mature social worker man had sex with a teen? I hope she gets the same treatment, that would be equality.
Until you do, and without knowledge of the particulars of the case, most men would assume that this could be the sexual highlight of a lifetime for the 16 year old.
If the 16 year old has some sort of mental or physical illness or handicap, then the law should be modified to address that particular case. Otherwise the so called victim appears to many people to be more of a lottery winner than a victim.
Please read the story more carefully. It involves a 16 year old boy and a charity worker. What an earth does my non- existant 15 year old daughter, a youth club leader and grooming have to do with any of this? More focus please, and much less of your rather disturbing fixation on the sexual activities of members of my family.
I found the article, and it says that the 16 year old does not consider himself to be a victim of rape.

But when it does happen that women do it to boys, the story comes out because the boys are BRAGGING. (Which sort of implies that they boys are not embarrassed or hurt.)
But the women have to be prosecuted so that no one admits the obvious. Sometimes boys and girls are not the same! We can't let facts stand in the way of indiscriminate ideology.
But I have never considered the nonsensical idea that I was abused, or raped.
To the contrary, I felt then and still today feel greatly gratified and wiser for these experiences.
Where was she when I was 16?
Well, Sven, I would imagine that she wasn't even born when you were 16! :-)
A 16 year old ?
Something jives not !
That the law is stupid....a foregone conclusion.
And how about that blond in the blue sweater working the laptop ?
What scares me is this : The Swedish Social Democrats being so unpopular..
Have they gone too far ?
Sweden should protect the young more with tougher punishments.
Can anyone really produce any hard evidence that this has ever been the case?
As a teenager, I was very lonely and depressed and I'm sure that if some older woman had seduced me that would have cheered me up a bit.
When I was 16 all I wanted was to dip my wick.... I would have been over the moon.... Sometimes this country makes me scratch my head!!
( And all the bleeding hearts should remember, at 16 its fine to join the Army back in the UK, but there is something wrong with a spot of nooky with a Mrs Robinson ... Come on!!)
