Juholt slammed for 'failing' Social Democrats

Following continued bad results in polls for the Social Democrats, party member and former minister Ylva Johansson in her blog on Sunday criticized both the party and leader, Håkan Juholt, for the low confidence of voters.

"It is a serious failure of Social Democracy and of our party leader. The confidence in Håkan Juholt was down to a catastrophic 16 percent shortly before Christmas. Our awful position and low trust cannot be blamed on anyone else."

Ex-minister Johansson wrote on her blog that the former giant Swedish political party now seems to be stuck at 25 percent of voter support, which she is not satisfied with.

"It is the party itself and our leader who have messed up," she added.

However, despite the stinging criticism Johansson doesn't wish to see Juholt step down.

Maintaining that she believes Juholt has failed in his task, she said that it is now up to him and the party to make it right again.

The object of writing in the blog was to highlight how this is a problem for the party to solve together, that the blame can't be passed on to someone else, she told news agency TT.

"This is a very serious situation. Month after month we get historically low results in polls both for the party and for the party leader," she said.

"What I want to say in the blog is that we can't blame this on anyone else and that it is in our own hands."

Despite the harsh words, Johansson claims she still has faith in Juholt, and that she simply wishes he is able to turn the situation around.

"I hope so," she told TT.

Ylva Johansson is currently the deputy chair of the Riksdag Committee on the Labour Market, and has held a number of ministerial position throughout her career as a Social Democrat politician.

Ha ha ha ha, this is even funnier than American wrestling. Sweden is not exactly world-famous for its stand-up comedians, but S are doing their best to rectify the matter.

Please keep going until the 2014 elections, guys and gals. By that time the only people still voting for S will be those who believe it is the duty of other taxpayers to provide them with an income for life. Unless even they have defected to V.

I am certain the electorate will soon recognise Mr Julholt's as the right man to lead Sweden to a better future. The Social Democrat party must stick with him and the policies that have served it so well these past two elections.

Johan... I disagree with alot of what you have to say... but not this time!

Perhaps this is a well laid-out plan by S. To undo the damage to their image created by Juholt would be an uphill battle. But, if they let Juholt remain until the economic or other parts of the political system display significant strain... THEN pull a new leader in to rally the troops and gain dissatisfied members of other parties they would appear much more attractive.

Either Mr Juholt will lead the Social Democrats to victory in the 2014 election (as Robin Hood suggests) - or he will fail, quite possibly resign, and a new leader take over with new window dressing - sorry policies. Lol!

Any man with a moustache like that is a born leader.
