A 30-year-old man from western Sweden has been sentenced to prison after he stripped down naked and assaulted passengers on a train in November, while under the influence of drugs.

The incident occurred in November on a train between Gothenburg to Örebro in central Sweden.

According to police, the man smoked marijuana somewhere along the journey, after which he began behaving erratically.

After threatening an assaulting a conductor, the man removed all his clothes and began roaming through the train asking people if they wanted to have sex with him.

One woman, who told the man to put his clothes back on, received several kicks to the stomach by the raving man, according to newspaper Skövde Nyheter.

Eventually, the pot-fuelled perpetrator tried to force another woman to perform oral sex on him.

During the trial one of the assaulted women testified that he had claimed to be “a warrior who was going to rape and kill everyone”, according to the paper.

And according to police reports at the time, the man also threatened to kill everyone who left the train.

To one passenger he allegedly shouted:

“Look at me when I am speaking to you, I am going to cut your throat.”

When the train stopped at a station most of the passengers nevertheless evacuated the carriage.

When police arrived they found the 30-year-old alone on the train talking to a woman he had trapped in the corner. When police drew near, he threatened to kill the woman, forcing police to act fast.

The man resisted arrest, which meant that the police used pepper spray.

Shortly after his arrest, the man was ordered held on remand by the district court on suspicion of assault, attempted rape, and threatening behaviour, violent resistance to his arrest and narcotics crimes.

The court sentenced him to one year and ten months in prison. He will also pay 32,000 kronor ($4,600) to the woman he tried to rape, 10,000 kronor to the conductor and 12,000 kronor to the woman he kicked.

The man is clearly deranged and if indeed it was marijuana he smoked it probably did little to affect his actions.

Agreed, Johnjohn. This guy needs the psycho ward for a long time.

I don't get it... shouldn't he have been innocent due to temporary insanity? A couple of weeks ago a drunk was not charged for an offense because he could not be held responsible as he was drunk... but here a real crazy is being sent to prison...

Strange rulings!

That's 54,000 Kronor that will never be paid to the victims, ridiculous Mickey Mouse sentencing.

swedish cowardice! A train with a bunch of people on it evacutated instead of helping to stop this man. Let me tell you if i was there I would have attacked this person.

@ Douglas garner

Your ideas about being found innocent based on temporary insanity does not exist in Swedish law

Swedish law does not contain any provision to absolve criminal responsibility for insanity - even the most mentally disturbed offender is always tried and found guilty (unless they are innocent of course)

The only time where mental health is considered is when sentencing takes place - to recieve a forensic psychiatric sentence to hospital requires that the person has a serious and treatable mental disorder at the time of the offence - all other offenders are sentenced to jail

Obviously deeply unhappy with his life in Sweden. Would it not be kinder to all concerned for him to return to his home country of Somalia?

I agree with JohnJohn. Pot-fuelled? Pot doesn't fuel anything but laziness, giggles and munchies.

How you figured out he is Somalian! I'm not Somalian but still wondering how you came up with this idea! As far as I know, Swedes use drugs more than others!

@underskyof sweden

When this event happened a few weeks back it was widely reported in the press, including a cell phone picture taken by a passenger on the train!!! Information given in the daily paper was that the offender was an immigrant from Somalia, and that he had previously offendeded similarly.
