Two men were shot in central Malmö on the night between Friday and Saturday. The men, both in their twenties, were taken to hospital with bullet wounds that aren't life threatening. A suspect was arrested by police nearby shortly after the incident.

All three men are known to have criminal ties.

According to Marie Keismar, officer on duty with the Skåne police, it's still too early to say whether the shooting has any connection with other, unresolved, shootings and violent acts that have rattled Malmö recently.

It's also unclear what caused the shooting, which occurred near the intersection of Södergatan and Baltzargatan.

"We know very little about what's happened. I also don't know whether the crime will be classified as attempted murder, attempted manslaughter, or aggravated assault," said Keismar to news agency TT.

Because of a party at night club Slagthuset, several police officers were already in the area when the shooting occurred at 3.30am.

"We were able to run over to the suspect and arrest him," explained Keismar.

She was unwilling to comment on whether a weapon had been found, or what type of weapon the suspect may have used.

On Saturday morning, police investigators were working to scour both the crime scene and the suspect's escape route, hoping to find some evidence.

"It's pretty extensive work," said Keismar.

The suspect was interrogated on Saturday morning, but police have not revealed whether he's made any confessions.

Keismar wouldn't comment on what type of criminal ties the two wounded men and the suspect have.

"I don't want to get in to that. But we know who they are," she said.

Not to repeat the obvious, but Malmö is becoming the kak-hole of Sweden. I can not imagine staying in this city after we get kids... it is just too dangerous. This recent shooting is right in the middle of the city. What a shame that Sweden's 3rd largest and promoted as multi-kulti is just going down the kak hole faster and faster...

I prefer them dead than give them internet, lessons, food and acomodation (jail) for 4 years

Criminals vs criminals = keep up with the good work and kill eachother!!!

The only positive aftermath of this!!!

why sweden just ship these "swedes" back to where they came from and let them shoot each other.

I dont live in Sweden and probably would never have enough money to even visit the country, but I have always loved this country as a nation of tolerant, peaceful, and fun loving people indulged in creativity of science and art.

PLEASE check the emigration laws...PLEASE do not spoil this nation.

A person cannot go to Kenya and shoot protected animals...there are environmental protection laws even in devloping states like Pakistan...HELLO SWEDEN WAKE UP...save your self. Dont allow the immigrants to spoil your environment.

My inlaws were originally from Malmo but haven't been back to Sweden for many years. They just cringe whenever they hear these stories. Its not the same Malmo that they once knew.

"It's also unclear what caused the shooting, which occurred near the intersection of Södergatan and Baltzargatan."

Nonsense. Everybody knows what caused the shooting. It was the colonisation of Malmo by the 3rd World.

Nice job Local. I'm pretty sure this is the same standard "Malmö shooting" picture as last week.

Would it be possible to save some metaphorical ink and only mention the town when it isn't Malmö.

I have been to Sweden several times and it seems as it has been getting worse no thanks to the governments far left liberal policies. Malmö use to be a nice clean city before the Muslims had 'taken over' and I have seen several neighborhoods in Stockholm that are deteriorating in like fashion You Swedes have to elect officials that will stop all that immigration, just like what many of we in USA are trying to do by electing right minded officials who love our country

Good luck.

This will be every city in Sweden soon enough.

Brought to you by... multiculturalism. Where rhetoric overrules reality every time.

"Two men shot in Malmø"

This cannot be true. Not in the multicultural Zlatan city.

The major has reassured us that Malmø is a multicultural model city, so something is not right. This must be a mistake.

I haven't been on for a few days, but of course, when I return, another article about this place. Doesn't surprise me. I feel bad for any regular white people living here, or Jews even more so.

Who cares about this? It musn't distract police from investigating the sexist innebandy coach.
10:56 January 29, 2012 by SecondGen
Well, it's not quite like a U.S. city @Migga

"Chicago Violence: At Least 52 Shot, Seven Dead Over The Weekend" is a headline about the city I live in (although you have to keep in mind, the Chicago metro area is about 8 million people and Chicago alone is just under 3 million).

I was driving down a major street in Chicago one summer day in my Porsche passing a public housing project when I heard a kid yell "that car" and suddenly 3 teenage girls stepped out off the curb and threw bricks at me as I sped past. Luckily they hadn't been little leaguers as it appeared they only scored 1 hit (it was a wide street and traffic was light fortunately so I had room to accelerate).

I had heard Sweden had a high incidence of violence. My question is, is this it (all the shootings in Malmo) or are there many, many shootings that don't make the news? As an example, in Chicago, most shootings don't make the news.
14:26 January 29, 2012 by redcrown
you expect shooting in chicago it been multi cultural for a long time, sweden is just at the beginning ,but will catch up
15:01 January 29, 2012 by Chickybee
This is just simply men being men but in the Balkanised style that is 'enriching' Swedish society and serves as its ample reward and gratitude from Sweden's new generation :-)
11:07 January 30, 2012 by johnny1939
I live both in Sweden and the US and I must admit that I feel much safer walking the streets in the US than in Sweden these days. At least in the US we have police presence and they are not afraid to jump in when there is a problem. Swedish police are not allowed to use force of any kind, at least that what it seems to me & the people do not seem to support their police whatsoever.

I have always felt that being members of the EU does not work for Sweden at all. Just my personal opinion .
12:21 January 30, 2012 by seekingthetruth
Sweden is a very safe place. Swedes are very spoiled people. In my homland, there were shootings every 15 minutes!
15:25 February 2, 2012 by Chickybee
@seekingthetruth Sweden was NEVER like this.

It was the stupidity of the Swedish government to import Muslim immigrants.

Guess what - do we see any ther immigrant group on a daily basis involved with killing and guns when it's second nature in their home culture.

It's disgusting how Malmo is being changed.
