Swedish cannibal finds vampire love behind bars

After meeting at a high security ward and chatting on the internet, “the Skara Cannibal” and the “Vampire Woman”, two infamous Swedish murderers, have found love and are hoping to get married.

”We got together on November 13th. 'Do you want to be my girlfriend?' he asked on MSN. Then we decided to get engaged, which we did on December 9th,” the “Vampire Woman” Michelle Gustafsson told Expressen.

The couple are fellow inmates at the Karsuddens psychiatric facility near Katrineholm in eastern Sweden. They are both being treated for highly unusual crimes, making huge headlines in Sweden.

Gustafsson is convicted of the murder of a father of four in Stockholm in 2010. She stabbed him to death with a knife, but claims she does not remember the incident at all.

On her personal blog she had been writing about killing people on the Stockholm underground and published pictures of herself as a vampire with a bloodied mouth, brandishing a knife and a power saw, according to the paper.

Isakin Jonsson, or ”the Skara Cannibal” was convicted in March 2011 of the gruesome killing of his then girlfriend, mother of five, Helle Christensen. After stabbing her to death with a knife, Jonsson cut off her head and other parts of her body, some of which he then ate.

Jonsson showed no remorse during his trial and was found to suffer from severe mental illness by a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation. He couldn't explain why he had killed his girlfriend.

"That's something I also wonder about. I trust the doctors. There was no motive whatsoever. We were a couple with a future together. I've never felt this way with a girl before," he said during the trial, reported Expressen at the time.

Being inmates at the same faciltiy, the unlikely couple found each other and spent a lot of time on an internet chat room. Now they want to get married.

“I love Michelle. I have never met anyone like her. I'd like to lead a non-criminal life,” said Jonsson to Expressen.

Jonsson told the paper that he really had felt no compunction to eat his ex-girlfriend but only did so to seem sick and get psychiatric treatment instead of jail time.

The couple don’t know when they will be released from the clinic as they are both serving non-fixed sentences there. According to the clinic there are inmates who have spent more than 20 years within its walls.

Despite this, the couple are looking forward to living together at some point.

“We want to get to live together, keep dogs and spend time on our hobbies, piercing and tattoos,” said Gustafsson to Expressen.

My god. What kind of creatures will that couple have. To control them, the swedish government will have to hire animal trainers and veterinarians in place of teachers and medical doctors

Still a better love story than Twilight.
12:49 January 30, 2012 by karex
This entire story is an outrage: it shows how people not only get away with murder here, but gruesome one at that. And he only ate parts of his girlfriend so he could get away from prison???? And he admit this and is still in psychaiactric care? Being paid for by our tax money???

It's for crimes like these that I am in favor of capital punishment. People like this should be exterminated so they aren't a burden and threat to society and so they can't breed any more monsters.

@karex: You don't breed a monster. You become one. I think you are on the way to becoming one. Congratulations.

@karex

What do you mean by "get away with"? Isn't possibly going to be locked up for life enough for you?
14:06 January 30, 2012 by RobinHood
I agree with Karex. It's outrageous that this obviously sane man should be locked up in a psychiatric hospital for ever, just for killing and eating his girlfriend. He is no more an insane monster than … well …… than Karex the exterminator.

Well, he better not say "suck me", and she better avoid saying "eat me".
11:17 January 31, 2012 by karex
Funny but I get this feeling that had I suggested that Hitler be exterminated early on and thereby save millions of lives no one would call me a monster.

Monsters are bred as well as "taught": http://discovermagazine.com/2006/apr/violence
11:54 January 31, 2012 by Thebinary1
@karex: Do you even read the stuff that you provide?

"Fight-or-Flight" is a genetic fact across all life forms. And as the author says: "Whether or not any given person in any given situation will become violent is known to be almost impossible to predict."

And with regard to your Hitler comment, yes you would still be classified as a monster by suggesting Hitler be exterminated "early on" in order to save millions of lives. Would it not be better to educate Hitler "early on" regarding empathy and value-for-life? Your "kill-or-be-killed" mentality is what makes you a monster, because such a circumstance will almost never arise should human values be taught, understood, and upheld.

Thebinary1 wrote "You don't breed a monster. You become one."

Incorrect. There is both a genetic predisposition to such behavior as well as environmental influences. Any child born and bred by these individuals would face significant challenges in society.

And for all the things we missed like, they are allowed to use the internet, have hopes and dreams and other silly notions that these two are entertaining when in reality they should just be put down. At least sterilized since you still do that there.
21:19 February 1, 2012 by sureiam
Funny!!! when a dog attacks his owner or people on the street, he is put down for good...... What about these "TWO freaks" that have taken the life of two people who had their kids to live for...... Poor kids that are left to live with "nightmares" of their dad and mum being stabbed and furthermore disturbing one being eaten, too much!.........."LETHAL INJECTION" would work better for them, fools talking about playing "INSANITY" if they know "LOVE" and feel it, where does insanity lies..... it seems to me that they are completely sane!
17:43 February 3, 2012 by Britt-Marie7
Karex, I agree with you, in cases like these, we should have had the death penalty.

Look how many lives they destroyed!

Unfortunately, it seems like in reading this, some feel "sorry" for the murderers instead, like Thebinary 1. Unbelievable!

We can only hope that these monsters never get out of prison, obviously, they have no regrets!

Amazing that they could even meet in prison? Are we talking about a holiday vacation place?

Careful, people. If they ever get out you can have Swedish version of Ian Brady and Myra Hindley :/

@karex and others with the same mindset who want Sweden to murder these two:

"Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you".

Friedrich Nietzsche

If we killed people for killing people, that would make us no better than them!

Too late, we're all already monsters, you were born weren't you.
