A 20-year-old woman had the word “whore” carved into her arm in connection with a knife attack in Landskrona in southern Sweden.

The woman told police she was attacked around 11pm on Saturday night when she got off a bus in central Landskrona, the local Helsingborgs Dagbladet newspaper reported.

Two men suddenly appeared and threw the woman to the ground.

One then held her down while the other took out a knife and carved “hora", the Swedish word for "whore" into her arm.

The woman, who was also reportedly cut in the face, was later taken to hospital by relatives.

Local police confirmed the incident for the newspaper, but refused to divulge many details about the circumstances of the attack.

“We have quite a bit to go on and we're doing our best to solve it,” a police spokesperson told Helsingborgs Dagbladet.

The incident has been classified as a case of particularly aggravated assault.

Police spent Sunday investigating the incident, but have yet to make any arrests for the suspected knife attack.

Some scepticism is probably a good idea until more is known. These cases have often been selfinflicted. Poor girl, no matter the backstory..

This is terrible! Please would The Local tell us what the knifemen looked like, so they can be caught, and the women of Landskrona protected against it happening again.

@jostein

I can't imagine a back story that would justify such cowardice that the men displayed!

I bet it is some of those 'ethnic' Swedes again
11:41 February 6, 2012 by philster61
Of course Frobobbies. When did you last hear an ethnic swede call a girl a whore?
13:39 February 6, 2012 by godnatt
These men were just expressing their diverse multicultural view of immodest women.

Don't judge racists!

The honor brigade is on the prowl again.
17:12 February 6, 2012 by Hahastupidsweden
you dont even know if these men were non-swedish but there are 3 comments already about the assumption that they were...thats just stupid. well then again, sweden is stupid.
17:44 February 6, 2012 by Rod Munch
Make that 4 comments assuming they were. And if things like this didn't happen all the time (from the same group of people) then maybe people wouldn't assume.
18:02 February 6, 2012 by strixy
Sounds like the work of a rape squad (they used to operate in the UK too but luckily were shown little mercy by the authorities).

@Svensksmith

Flashback wisdom:

It seems improbable that this is honorrelated. Honorviolence has two purpuses. Either it is simple abuse as punishment and as a way to control the behaviour of a familymember, so that they will not bring "shame" on the family. Or, it is lethal force to dispel "shame" that has already been brought upon the family. Enscribing such shame on a familymember would be totally counterproductive and write the familys shame for all to see, as it were.

Imho, a scenario is still selfmutilation. Us humans are quirky and pain takes many different forms. Thats why i think that its best to avoid screaming for blood when comenting this article. There are things that point to selfmutilation (previous cases, choice of bodypart, the difficulty of cutting letters into someone that is in pain and resisting, unknown perps). There are things that point in other directions (cut in the face). And sincere apologies if im wrong. I just think its important not to jump to conclusions with such little information..

@Hahastupidsweden

According to a commentator in the blogosphere that phoned the police and pestered them the report claims that the perps are "white" and "immigrants".

Could be right, jostein and, if so, I'll eat my words. Won't be the first time...

Not long ago a girl over here in the US threw acid in her own face and then claimed she was attacked. I don't know if anyone ever got the full story of why, but the most commonly accepted idea was that she was unhappy with her appearance - possibly even bullied - and wanted attention.

On the other hand, equally senseless attacks happen too. Either way, I hope the answer is found and the girl is helped in whatever way she needs help.

ofc theyre swedes, other nationalities would give her a permanent handicap so she never gets another boyfriend

I am totally sure it's a real Swede. Because women are whores for hugging a man in Sweden's native culture.

@SvenskSmith

I kind of laughed but yes this is serious.
