A Stockholm-based psychiatrist had sex with one of his patients during a therapy session. The man has now been charged with sexually exploiting a person dependent of him.

"He denies the crime," prosecutor Birgitta Tholander Werme told the Metro newspaper.

The doctor and psychiatrist, a man in his fifties, worked at a large hospital in Stockholm, but also regularly had private sessions with patients in the evening.

The patient was a woman some 15 years his junior, according to Metro. One evening in late 2009 she was feeling very unwell, and booked another therapy session.

According to the patient, the psychiatrist gave her a strong beer. The therapy session ended with the two having sex, according to the prosecutor.

The prosecutor underlines that the woman was not physically forced into having sex with her therapist.

After the incident, the woman was shocked, but was finally talked into reporting the man to the police.

The charged psychiatrist admits certain circumstances, reports Metro, but denies the crime.

Much of the investigation has been marked as secret by Stockholm's district court.

The court date has been set for April.

"The investigation has taken a long time for several reasons," said Birgitta Tholander Werme to Metro.

That's why they are called the-rapists.

Swedish women seem to be so neurotic. Who would dare to make love to any of them?
17:12 February 11, 2012 by bira
Seems to be an epidemic in Sweden these days; woman has consensual sex with a man, feels guilty the next day and charges him with rape!

He must be a bad Psychiatrist. With a good Psychiatrist, the women are so grateful they keep it a secret forever.

Isn't having sex with a current client considered an ethics violation - one which would certainly requires the revocation of his license to practice psychiatry. Criminal or not it's certainly a breach of trust and professionally.
22:17 February 11, 2012 by TheWatchman
Well when I will be doing this sort of thing, I will have a no touching policy. They touch me, they're out. Besides a handshake of course.

@blursd, yes it is.

Who about Carl Jung and Sabina Spielrein? Together with Sigmund Freud they are the subject of the new David Cronenberg film "A Dangerous Method". In the movie Jung and Spielrein are portrayed as having a sexual relationship whilst her treatment was happening. If such behaviour is good enough for two of the founders of analysis why not for this psychiatrist too? After her treatment Sabina Spielrein went on to be a major figure in analysis and devised new techniques that both Jung and Freud took up in their own practice.

Sex is a very important component of any theraphy. It could be that the psychiatrist was doing is job.

""The investigation has taken a long time for several reasons," said Birgitta Tholander Werme to Metro"

Reason #1: The investigation is taking place in Sweden.

This is an advise for men, especially foreigners BEWARE of Swedish women even your girlfriend you consensually have sex with can accuse you of rape and you will go to jail. In this country the authorities dont care whether or not the woman is lying they will charge you like Julian A. So beware. The girls reading this ad you know what am talking about??????

"After the incident, the woman was shocked, but was **finally talked into** reporting the man to the police."

This in itself means that she was a victim of a certain amount of coercion which add pressure and leads to escalating results. She had the choice from the very start to report him, but with reluctance and pressure from a 3rd party did what someone else has talked her into doing and 3rd persons normally have a way of blowing things out of proportion for the safety of their friend/relative.

The Psychiatrist should have known better that this may bite him in the ass if he has seen any of the billion movies out there involving a Psychiatrist.

I don't understand....

Selling sex is not illegal in Sweden, I thought ?

Only buying it.

So the psychiatrist sold sex, and the woman bought it, and it's blindingly obvious that it's the woman that should be punished.

"The prosecutor underlines that the woman was not physically forced into having sex with her therapist.

After the incident, the woman was shocked, but was finally talked into reporting the man to the police"

What can anyone with thinking faculty made of the above lines? First the woman was feeling 'unwell', we did not know if it was just 'sexually deprived unwell'

Second, 'The session ended' which means the man finished his job, and has every right to his private life, and there is every sign the woman came for that.

Third, The woman was not 'physically forced'! So what is the problem here?

Fourth, the woman was 'talked into reporting the man to the police'.... More question than answer here.

What is the motive here, at what stage was this woman talked into this sudden change of mind? What if it happened that the woman actually raped the man at the session knowing that men have no human rights in that part of the world? How much was the girl promised to get if she go along with the 'Blackmail'?

The prosecutor need to get some serious training before jumping into some ridiculous cases, reminds of Julian Assange once again 'no case'.

Without sounding like supporting any side, one still wonder, What if the psychiatrist was forced into that act by the woman who at the time needed 'sexual healing' and got healed, only to turn around to report same man in hope of getting paid for that.

"The investigation has taken a long time for several reasons," said Birgitta Tholander Werme -Need say more.... Well they need more time for the 'feminists' to cook up enough damning charges against the poor guy.

Men are sure in deep sh*t in Sweden.

Yeah the whole thing is abolutely bizarre. Reading all these articles on thelocal it almost looks as there is some kind of "christian feminist taliban" conspiracy going on that is set on making any kind of sex a crime.

Is it even possible for a man in Sweden to have sex without the risk of being charged for "'buying sex" or "rape" ?
