Teacher held after having sex with teen students

A 24-year-old teacher has been remanded into custody on suspicion of child rape after admitting that he had sexual relations with a number of teenage pupils, according to a report in the Aftonbladet daily.

The man was fired from his job before the Christmas holidays after parents raised the alarm and is now being investigated on suspicion of sex offences involving six young girls at the school.
"He has confessed, but claims that everything has been consensual," the man's lawyer K-G Myhrberg told the newspaper.
The man was remanded into custody by a district court on Friday on suspicion of child rape and sexual abuse.
The rape charge concerns a 14-year-old girl who the man admits to having had sex with, claiming that he thought that she was 15-years-old at the time.
The abuse charge concerns a 15-year-old girl and refers to messages sent by SMS and on Facebook.
The incidents are reported to have occurred in an office at the school.
The man's actions were revealed when parents became suspicious after discovering incriminating sexually suggestive messages on their daughters' Facebook accounts.
The school immediately reported the matter to the police when they were informed of the situation in December.
The girls have been offered various forms of support and help to deal with the situation.
"You should be able to trust the adults they have in their proximity and feel safe in school," the school's principal told Aftonbladet.

Circumstances should matter.
If he was a she and had sex with a 14-15 old guy then it would have been "cute" not molestation...
Interesting. If the girl was not online when these messages were posted then surely, from earlier decisions about insensible women being unable to protest their bodies being touched because they were intoxicated so could not refuse, this would not have been molestation either. The girl concerned being unable to refuse because she wasn't there ... until later.
Equally even if she online as these things were being posted then how can typed words be "molestation"?
Are we seeing another of The Local's wonderful mis-translations?
Most male teachers of girls that age have to deal with seductionattempts, stalking etcetera. It is part of the job. It is still statuatory rape or the swedish equivalent. I think whoever educated this teacher should be investigated too. It is important to really stress this during education.
Maybe the comments around stalking etc of teenage girls would think different if they had daughters of their own - I'm sure they'd be calling for blood!
Ahh stevo1, my dear boy. I suggest you get out of the U.S. once in a while and see the world. The age of consent is 15 in Sweden. There is a large legal difference between 14 and 15. It's like the difference between 17 and 18 in the U.S.
Perhaps Americans would be mature and be adults sooner if they were not treated like children and second class citizens until their mid twenties...
