Swedish gyno takes heat for stimulating 'demo'

A gynaecologist in Gothenburg has been charged with two cases of sexual abuse after allegedly sexually molesting two patients during their examinations.

The doctor denies the allegations, however.

“It is a question of a routine exercise of his duties, where the plaintiffs somehow have misunderstood the situation,” said the man's defence lawyer Urban Gilborne to local paper Göteborgsposten (GP).

The man works for the public health service in the Gothenburg municipality. The two women reported him separately, not aware of the other's complaint, according to the paper.

The crime were allegedly committed at the man's examination room in the Gothenburg area. In January 2010, he allegedly pushed his fingers back and forward into a woman's genitals in a “sexualized manner”.

In December 2010, he is reported to have performed a hands-on demonstration of the so-called “windscreen wiper” technique to reach sexual climax on another woman, reports GP.

According to the prosecutor the man has severely taken advantage of the victim's vulnerable position.

The man has no previous criminal record and despite the allegations against him, is still actively working, though not in the same clinic.

The man was reported to the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) at the beginning of last year, but the agency has yet to decide on the matter.

The trial date for the legal proceedings remains to be set.

Women, don't flatter yourselves. I used to work in ERs and clinics and if I never do another pelvic exam again, it will be too soon.
21:10 February 21, 2012 by dizzymoe33
Here in the States a female nurse must be present at all times before, during and after the examinations! To prevent these things from happening. I can't believe he is still allowed to continue working. He should be put on leave until this is thoroughly investigated and then if found guilty lose his license to practice medicine.
