Couple guilty of trying to burn parents alive

A 28-year-old man and his 26-year-old girlfriend have been found guilty of trying to burn the woman's parents alive in an inheritance plot which they hoped would lead to a life of luxury in sunny Buenos Aires.

The couple had hoped that killing the woman's parents would allow them to cash in on a life insurance policy for which the 26-year-old woman was the sole beneficiary.

The Swedish pair had already bought one-way tickets to Buenos Aires and planned to flee Sweden after carrying out the plot, the Metro newspaper reported.

The young couple drugged the elderly pair with Sobril in their apartment in Solna near Stockhlm in October, ransacked the flat for valuables, and then set fire to the building in seven separate places.

The hope had been to inherit a summer cottage, life insurance and the apartment.

However, an attentive neighbour noticed the smoke and sounded the alarm, allowing rescue services to save the elderly couple before they were harmed.

The young couple was also charged with giving false testimony after giving police faked witness statements, in which they stated that a relative of the girlfriend had previously threatened to kill the parents.

The 28-year-old man stood as a candidate for the Green Party at the 2010 election although the party has since stated that once the man's views became known steps were taken to expel him.

Last week, the man and woman were found guilty by Solna District Court.

The couple continues to deny the charges and is set to undergo psychiatric evaluations ahead of sentencing, which is scheduled to take place next month, according to Metro.

Our parents struggle hard for us. they take care of us when we are not able to walk, eat and drink. they work to bring money and keep us happay untill we are able to support ourselves. Mothers feel discomfort when their sons or daughters are crying and struggle hard to make them happay. Is this the result of their struggle and mercy ?. For God sake my brothers and sisters , take care of your parents .Do not say even oops when they are old. Return the same help and mercy . Do not break their hearts. they are the only way to paradise. Make them happay and get a happay life in this world and a better eternal life in paradise. this is promise form God Almighty

I agree with you, salmanikram2003. Even under the worst of circumstances parents do not deserve this sort of treatment and disrespect.

The number of psychopaths in Western countries is steadily increasing, mainly due to incompetent parenting and culture that encourages making one's life better at the expense of others.

I agree. I feel so much for my own parents they lost their teenage years to the ww2,they made sure that life would be better for me and gave up alot so that i could live a better life. This couple have no heart and respect.

You have to be really cold hearted to even contemplate taking the live of your parents for a few million kronas, that's if you even get that much, this type of crime is common in places like the USA, nobody brings up their kids for them to even think about doing this, quite surprised that nobody has asked yet the names of the accused, to check if they are Swedes or from an immigrant background, in true thelocal fashion!!!

I don't care if they're immigrants or otherwise, but it certainly is silly to not print the names of those who are CONVICTED of a crime.

It took a while to find, but here it is:

"I valet till riksdagen 2010 stod 28-årige Daniel Arrospide Alata som kandidat på miljöpartiets valsedlar. Nu står den miljöpartistiske riksdagskandidaten åtalad för grov mordbrand, försök till mord, grovt rån och falsk tillvitelse.

Daniel Arrospide Alata åtalas för att tillsammans med 28-åriga Rut Patrickson ha försökt mörda Ruts föräldrar i föräldrarnas lägenhet på Johan Enbergs väg i Solna."

Google Translate:

"In the general election in 2010 was 28-year-old Daniel Arrospide Alata as a candidate for the Green Party ballots. Now it stands miljöpartistiske parliamentary candidate charged with aggravated arson, attempted murder, aggravated robbery and false accusation.

Daniel Arrospide Alata prosecuted for working with the 28-year-old Ruth Patrickson having attempted murder of Ruth's parents in the parents' apartment on Johan Enberg way in Solna."

So now they'll be sent to a physchiatric facility "spa" and spend years up to their ears in drugs, guns and porn surfing, until a quack says they're perfectly fine, let's them loose and they go and this time succeed in killing her parents.

Great. A psychiatric assessment.

The shrink will simply say 'no sane person would attempt to murder their parents. Clearly they are insane, and we must therefore give them trivial sentences, even by Swedish standards'.

6 weeks later, the same shrink will report that they have successfully completed a rehabilitation program where they have demonstrated that they can determine what shape of coloured wooden block fits into the right hole in a box, and so they should be released at once.

I pray that the Swedish justice system will prove me wrong this time.
