New Ipad 'useless' on Swedish 4G: report

The new Apple Ipad, unveiled on Wednesday, will not be compatible with the Swedish 4G network as it is adapted for North American 4G, which operates at different frequencies to the Swedish network

The new Ipad will be released in Sweden on March 23rd, Apple confirmed in an email to TT, referring to an article in internet computer news site alltomac.se that states that the new Ipad would not be 4G compatible.
Apple told TT they had no more information than what had been said at the presentation of the new device.
According to Swedish telecom news site Telekomnyheterna, it would seem as if there is no version of the new Ipad that will work on the European 4G networks.
The new Ipad uses frequencies 700 and 2,100 megahertz, frequencies which in Sweden and in large parts of Europe are exclusive to 3G.
The first ipad was released in April 2010 and the second version was presented by Apple founder Steve Jobs in 2011.

Because Europe was before the US with 3 G, so it is the USA who should have followed Europe. It's funny much of the technology is invented in the USA but Europe usually implements it before the USA.
we have seen this with:
electricty - plugs and current/voltage
measurement systems
mobile phone networks
some things just never change. too bad.
As the previous post suggests, the LTE specs were designed in Europe with support from the whole world as a world wide standard.
The US has always been out of step when it comes to spectrum allocation, with one exception Clearwire. When Clearwire launches LTE on its 2.5GHz spectrum it will be compatible with Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, Russia, etc.

Ipads are a useful gadget and that's all, their function can be worked around with other product like smart phones that perform other functions too. Apple seriously needs some new ideas.
Liquid Monkey, Europe was using the mile etc. long before the US (about 2000yrs), it comes from the Romans, 1 mile = 1000 double paces when marching (milli etc.) Not sure how the Swedish mile became 10km though!!
Why do people put up with this nonsense? If I purchased a movie legally I should be able to play it on my TV.
