Sweden Democrats in 'honour crime' ad retreat

Published: 17 Mar 12 15:27 CET | Print version
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/39732/20120317/

The Sweden Democrats’ Women's Association (SD-kvinnor) has announced that it has edited a campaign film released last week that it claimed was intended to highlight honour-related violence.

The controversial film has been amended after the Sweden Democrats were contacted by STIM (Swedish Performance Rights Society) and threatened with legal action over the use of a rights-protected psalm.

STIM informed the Sweden Democrats that the psalm had been used without the permission of the copyright owner, according to a report in the Dagen.se news website.

The party has now re-released the film without music in order to conform with STIM's demand.

The film, which was released to coincide with International Women’s Day last Thursday, shows a young immigrant woman who is beaten by what appears to be members of her family and other relatives while a mournful tune is played.

The violent scenes are concluded by a blonde and pale-skinned woman wiping up blood from the floor.

The narrative, which is all in rhyme, poses questions such as ”what if tolerance is just naivety” and ”what if culture kills”.

The film was quickly slammed by influential feminists and other commentators who argued that the message was simplistic.

In an interview with The Local last week, Carl Emanuelsson of the Feminist Initiative (Feministiskt Initiativ, FI) said it was regrettable that the Sweden Democrats attempt to make men’s violence against women into a race issue.

SD-Kvinnor spokesperson Therese Borg, however, said that the Sweden Democrats wanted to create awareness of a phenomenon that they claim is lost among other feminist issues such as equal pay and affirmative action.

The Local's attempts to reach the Sweden Democrats on Saturday for comment were unsuccessful.

Recognizing a copyright infringement and correcting it is a "retreat".

What a purposefully deceiving headline.

Shame on the Local.

Muslim guys treat women better than Western guys. The rape crime per capita against women in Sweden is much higher than that of any other Muslim country,

Google: nationmaster rapes

Yunis,

Do the numbers from Muslim countries include the rapes where the female victim is persecuted as a whore and the rapist gets off scott free? I think not.

Now this is a far superior manner for Swedish women to spend their valuable time than to go along with America's banking and intelligence establishment to crucify and villify Wikileaks' Julian Assange.

Honor killings are not a racist issue, the overwhelming majority are religious.

Honor killings is a cultural invention to maintain your people intact even thught you have been invaded. It is a way of waging longterm low intensity cultural war. This is where its found in volatile regions where invasions and subjugations are run of the mill.

Ah yes, lying to the infidel,Taqqiyah. Don't think I am your average infidel boys. Islamic culture, Cultures in Islam, Muslim countries, blah, blah. Don't think for a second anyone with even one brain cell (this does not include any Swedish politician other than a member of SD) buys your bs. Women are second class citizens in Muslim countries. That will not be tolerated here in Sweden. Sweden is waking up, finally, to this bs. 2014 is going to be a banner election year for SD.

@mash kavash

In islamic countries it's very difficult for a woman to prove she has been raped. Normally, she needs six witnesses who are willing to testify. Most wouldn't even have one witness besides themselves. So how is the rapist going to die without six witnesses?

In Western countries it's enough for the woman alone to go to the police and give a statement. If she's able to submit to a rape kit so that DNA evidence is available then she has an even stronger case. If she has no physical evidence then it's up to the courts to decide if a crime was comitted and what the punishment is to be. I know a lot of rapists in western countries get off scott-free but how often do you hear a woman in a western country claiming she's been raped but instead of getting justice ends up being stoned because it's believed she wasn't raped but committed adultery?

As someone who has lived in the middle east (for work) I can tell you that women are not as valued by muslim men as you claim. And I was wasn't even raped. In fact, even in Sweden I don't see women treated as "precious" by muslim men. I mainly see (and experience) the opposite.

You really need to pump out that air from your head. You'll have plenty for the flat wheels on your car.

@mash kavash

''So how is the rapist going to die without six witnesses?''

what does that mean? how will he be prosecuted is my best guess. some of women who are raped in the middle east are concidered ''used'' and usually their families don't know what to do with them. some other, they will either marry them off to someone to save the family's honour and hers or they will let her be untill she chooses to be with someone, and then of course she will have to say the truth and see if the other person is good enough for her, i.e. for the other to accept that she has been raped and that she needs support. there are women who go to the police and legal action is taken against the perpetrator. also, no body gets stoned, unless you live in saudi arabia or Iran and both hate each others guts, yet both treat women in most unhumane way, how ironic.

''As someone who has lived in the middle east (for work) I can tell you that women are not as valued by muslim men as you claim.''

of course! then everyone should absolutely trust your statement in this case...because you lived there for a while and you know exactly how the men there feel and treat their women. am not saying all arab/muslim men are good to their women but neither are all christian, jewish, buddhist, atheist, mystic, straight, bisexuall men are good to their women, so cut your propaganda.

"Justification for Rape in the Koran"

Excerpt,

Chapter 33 verse 50 of the Koran:

"O Prophet! Lo! We have made lawful unto thee thy wives unto whom thou hast paid their dowries, and those whom thy right hand possesseth of those whom Allah hath given thee as spoils of war, and the daughters of thine uncle on the father's side and the daughters of thine aunts on the father's side, and the daughters of thine uncles on the mother's side and the daughters of thine aunts on the mother's side who emigrated with thee, and a believing woman if she give herself unto the Prophet and the Prophet desire to ask her in marriage a privilege for thee only, not for the [rest of] believers. We are aware of that which We enjoined upon them concerning their wives and those whom their right hand possess that thou mayst be free from blame, for Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."

Thus, the Prophet is given sexual access to first cousins, captives, and any believing woman whom he desires to wed. In fact, he is given certain liberties denied to all others. Allah is here not only forgiving but also quite liberal, at least on the behalf of his Prophet. The term "whom your right hand possesses" refers to women captured in battle. Captive women were considered legitimate trophies of war and in fact the Prophet marries a Jewess whose husband has been slain. Although we can construe this practice to be "pro-sexuality," it is hard to imagine how this paleolithic approach to romance serves the interests of feminism.

"How a Woman Must Prove Rape"
17:35 March 18, 2012 by cathk
I think the issue here is not actually Islam. I grew up in an area with a very large muslim community, which is not in Europe, or the middle east. And I promise you honour killings are unheard of, and women have equal rights. sure fathers are maybe a little bit more protacktive of there daughters and some women where scarves on their heads, but there is nothing close to the type of oppression of women that we see in some muslim communities in sweden. perhaps these things have emerged as a way to fiersly protect culture against what may be seen as bad western practices such as teen drinking ans sex etc etc. But please lets not fool ourselves and say that Islam as a religion is to blame. Islam is at its core a peaceful loving religion much like most others. all extremist muslim countries that stone rape victems and treat their ppl like worthless animals, have obviosly not even looked at their holy book in a very very long time. These problems are cultural and unacceptable in Sweden. The SD should maybe focus on that and not on the religion. because this is not a common thing in Islam.

Meanwhile in Morocco, a shariah judge failed to understand Islam and makes a woman marry the man who raped her (leading to her Islamophobic suicide).

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2012/03/14/Moroccan-girl-suicide

And let's not forget the Afghans who failed to understand how Islam respects women by engaging in a brutal gang rape.

Anyone who says Muslims treat women just as good or better than Christians, Jews or Buddhists is probably on cocaine. I'm sure stoning them for adultery or ignoring rape (or even then, considering them sluts for being raped) is a nice thing to do.
22:34 March 18, 2012 by sarah02
@omar kavash sorry, my comment wa meant to @radhus not you.

@omar kavash - You are the ignnorat am afraid. If you think by mentioning you're Sunni Muslim that you are - by default - a better person, a person who knows more about ''real'' Islam than Shee'a Muslims or any other Muslim sect for that matter, then you need to rethink.

- Be conscious when you say (the prophet) and (the book of God) . A Christian might claim the same, a Jew the same. What makes your version of a person and a book the right one? I mean no disrespect here. It is merely a good question. Also, Your version of ''the prophet'' and Islam is NOT the same as the other 300 million people in the Arab world. There are more than 10 different copies of Qur'an used in different Arab countries. (shocked?) Every one of them names their version of Qur'an as the book of God. So do not be all self rightous. that is either hypocracy or idiocy... take your pick.

3- Just to comment on what you said. I was not talking about religion. I was talking about dictators in Iran and Saudi Arabia. Both are equally tyrant. Except for the fact that the US will do anything to protect their beloved oil in the gulf area. so Irani dictatorship won't last as long as the Saudi one.

By the way, am not a Christian, a Muslim, a Jew or an athiest. I have nothing against good people following different idiologies though. A little puzzle for ya!

Nothing but feminism and equality in the new "democracy" of Egypt too.

Clearly all Swedish women should move there for better treatment like the liberal, equality minded Muslims here say.

Yunis make a "litle" mistake. Maybe the rate of rapes is higher in Sweden that in the arabian countries. However, he forget to tell that most of the rapers in Sweden are muslims. Continuing with the rate of rapes in muslim countries, I do not believe at all it is lower than in occident. It is only an artefact, a semantic one. By the word "rape" muslims understand quite another thing. Rape for them is a man´s demostration of unconditional love for a kid, a teenager or a woman
23:28 March 18, 2012 by tercel
@ yunis

"The rape crime per capita against women in Sweden is much higher than that of any other Muslim country,"

The reason is undoubtedly because of sharia law, as the following will prove. The chances of convicting a rapist in a moslem country is virtually ZERO, thus your statistics are worthless.

Sharia Law:  The rapist will be punished to death if force on the victim is proven.[9]

Clear enough. But exactly how can "force on the victim" be proven?  The answer must surely rank as one of the most insane and sexist laws in human history.

(A)  "Proof of Zina (adultery) or Zina Bil-Jabr (rape) liable to Hadd shall be one of the following:

        (a) The accused makes confession or

        (b) There are at least four Muslim adult male witnesses"[10]

(B)    "Proof of adultery or rape liable to Hadd shall be one of the following:

         (a) The accused makes confession, or

         (b) There are at least four Muslim adult male witnesses."[11]

(C)    "Punishment will take place when Zina or rape have been proved by witness."[12]

(D)    Sharia Law rejects the witness of women in Hudood cases.[13]

(E)    "The evidence of women is originally inadmissible on account of their weakness of understanding, want of memory and incapacity of governing."[14]

Because such "proofs" are almost impossible to obtain and because circumstantial evidence is not accepted, a rape cannot be proved as rape in a Sharia court. Instead, "sex outside marriage" is proved for the woman by her complaint or physical scars or torn cloths or pregnancy etc. Then the law of "Punishment for Sex Outside Marriage" i.e. stoning to death for married adulterers and flogging and exile for unmarried adulterers are applied to the rape-victims.[15] On the other hand, a rapist has simply to deny the crime and go scott free. As the New York Times reports: "Ms. Lawal, a divorced woman, identified a man as the father of her child. The man denied the charge, swore on the Koran, and was deemed innocent by the trial court. No one suggested DNA tests."[16]

But DNA tests have no place in Hudood Laws either. The BBC reported that Zafran Bibi of  Pakistan "went to the police to register a case of rape, but she herself was instead sentenced to death for having an adulterous affair."[17] About conducting a DNA test to identify the rapist, the Dawn reports: "Justice Ali Nawaz Chauhan of the Lahore High Court has observed that the DNA test is not acceptable as evidence to establish the offence of Zina under the Hudood laws which require a direct testimony in such cases.."[18]

More evidence that islam is a cult mired in the darkness of the 7th century.

By the way we have had at least 10 honor killings here in the US by moslems who "undoubtedly" do not understand their "religion". All are spending 20 years to life in prison.

Further proof that Sweden should ban all Muslims from this country! They rape their own women & now rape Swedish women. I really hope the SD's keep

gaining more power!
03:36 March 19, 2012 by nathan45
If we didn't let tens of thousands of people into Sweden every year from places that honor killings are common and tolerated than we would not have to deal with such issues. And yes it is possible to run a country with out mass immigration. You just need some financial reforms and you have to spend the money that gets spent on immigrants every year on women's benifets to encourage them to have 2 children. Yes there will be a slight drop in population at first but it will level out once the baby boomer generation dies off.
07:47 March 19, 2012 by orangetree
@Yunis ; I am muslim and female and I know and you know that after the raping the victims are mostly blamed for that crime. They blamed to make it happen.. so it ends up by killing the victim also..

So can you tell me in which muslim countries rape numbers are correct?

In muslim countries woman are respected if they are under the shadow of a man(father or husband).

The outsider females are always on target.

Please make a short look of the martyries wifes in Afganistan.. In which conditions are they forced to live in and feed their children?

Great post by Tercel and also a great post by Orangetree!

Anyone with half of a brain knows that Muslim men treat their women like garbage. It can be seen in the news, on the street or in the stats everyday. Statements like those made by Yunis and his other Muslim "brother" in this thread are exactly the reason why you can never believe what a Muslim male says. Honestly, they have no purpose in Europe. Muslim men should really be back in their countries where their lying, mysoginistic and criminal behavior is accepted.
10:55 March 20, 2012 by Iraniboy
Hypocrisy at its highest level?!

It is extremely fascinating that SD cares about women with immigrant background yet it wants to expel all of them out Sweden.

It is extremely fascinating when Sweden wants to ban import of Halal and Kosher for animals rights yet it supports Swede's high rank in arm sale which is used to kill people(and probably animals!).
13:36 March 20, 2012 by bcterry
"It is extremely fascinating that SD cares about women with immigrant background yet it wants to expel all of them out Sweden."

Link?

As far as slaughtering for halal and kosher are concerned, this sick practice is nothing short of sadistic, and this is done because of some ridiculous, ignorant, barbaric manmade religious ritual?
13:02 March 21, 2012 by orangetree
@Rod Munch;

Woman rights is not only a Muslim issue but in many societies you can see it. Indians , Christian Arabs, Jews .. You can see woman is the victim in violence. So this is not only about Islam.

Actually sheria is moslty shaped by Arab culture but not with Kuran itself.

So I see this problem not related with religion but understanding of gender and sex.
