Princess Estelle's surname, or rather lack of one, has become a matter for the Parliamentary Ombudsman (Justitieombudsmannen, JO) to look into.

" I have recently become addicted to a website called Stockholms Källan. The site is an amazing treasure trove of historical images of Stockholm. You can search by names or locations to find old photos and documents relating to whatever you’re interested in. This image is from a 1960’s short film called “Ditt Stockholm” (“Your Stockholm”). I would like to know how this Tegenfeldt has come to the conclusion that "the Swedish people most likely approve of the Royal Family receiving special treatment in this way." Most people I know, both Swedish and immigrants, don't approve of anything to do with the royals. It's so middle ages.
Radicals are bombing businesses, and street shooting are becoming commonplace in Sweden, but ... the royals don't have last names ... that we cannot tolerate!
200. HM The King of Sweden (Carl XVI Gustaf Bernadotte , b 1946)
201. HRH The Duke of Värmland (Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte , b 1979)
202. HRH The Crown Princess of Sweden, Duchess of Västergötland (Princess Victoria Bernadotte , b 1977)
203. HRH The Duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland (Princess Madeleine Bernadotte , b 1982)
How they "like" to be known in Sweden has nothing to do with their actual names. They are all officially called Bernadotte on all legal documents. When the 3 Royal Kids were under 18 Gustaf and Silvia received state child benefit for them under the name of Bernadotte.
Interesting that if terrorists killed a certain 199 people that the King of Sweden would become King of the UK. Also interesting to note that Carl Philip, although younger than Vicky is listed above her as we (the UK) are still using male preference primogeniture. (Although moves are in place to use first born primogeniture instead in which case a lot of people will be moved around on the British list).
The voice of reason. Thanks for your comment!

Don't let the Swedish feminists hear you say that! LOL In Sweden people are free to choose their surnames. Women are free to keep their maiden names, their husband's surname or even a third totally unrelated name if they so wish (if their surname is considered too common). Men are likewise free to choose their wive's surnames when they marry as well. As far as I know, men taking their wives' surnames is not a modern conecpt in Sweden and has benn practiced for many centuries.
From Wikipedia's page about the Vasaloppet...
Carl XVI Gustaf blev 1977 den förste svenske kungen att delta, under namnet Carl Bernadotte. Han kom på 5 708:e plats.
Translated: Carl Gustaf XV1 became, in 1977, the first Swedish King to take part, under the name Carl Bernadotte. He came 5,708th.
From Vasaloppets result service, online,
Tjejvasa Recreation Class, 2008.
Start Number 2 687 Madeleine Bernadotte (SWE) 02:22:19
So it seems they have used this surname themselves when signing up for sports events and legal uses.
Of course the little baby Princess will be called Estrella Bernadotte.
What's all the fuss about and why would they not use the surname Bernadotte when Madeleine HERSELF used it at the Vasaloppet in 2008?
Proof wanted? Just go to the Vasaloppet dot se page...
I meant Estelle, Estrella is a bag of crips.
If they followed the male line like most of her subjects we would have Elizabeth Saxe-Coburg and Gotha whose heir is Charles Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Gluecksburg.
And Estrella is genius! "Estrella Chav" would be a great name for a little girl.
